James, James...the bruise on your head. I know how that happened! You told me the whole story. You were standing on your toilet, and you were hanging a clock, and you fell, and you hit your head on the sink. And that's when you came up with the idea for the Flux Capacitor so you could go back in time and verify Laura's horse's-assiness.
(sorry, Laura...just havin' fun)

LOL who stands on a toilet to hang a clock?
But that's exactly right. I finally invented something that works. I remember old man Laura used to own all this farmland, had this crazy idea about breeding pine needles. Was Laura ever not a horses ass?

So who is stuck at work today? Im here, but I think they will free us around noon - 2PM. Not only is it slow, I am currently the ONLY PERSON in the Long Island office. I'm in until Noon. The roads were pretty damn light this morning. I usually allow 30 minutes for the drive to work but made it in 20. Im drinking tea. Wish I had something to spike it with - although I have never spiked tea before. What would be a good mixer to spike tea? There are a number of ways to spike coffee but never thought of tea. Not that I can experiment but I have three bottles of wine staring at me.

The roads will probably be less fun to navigate on your way home, as its pouring now.
I cant imagine a good mixer - going by what a taste expert would say - for tea. But it would not me from dumping a hard shot in there. Maybe some Bushmills into some Irish Breakfast tea!

Just found out what my increase will be for 2009. Wasn't thrilled with my bonus (got that the day before Thanksgiving) but at least I got one.
Had to revise my flexible spending contribution to prepare for the baby's arrival so my take home will probably be around the same.

Hi Dana!
So this sucks, it's pouring rain by me. Yay, it's the most shittiest time of the year, what a winter wonderland. And worse off, I got a famoly party at 3 then a xmas party at night so I have to refrain from cracking open a heineken since I need to be semi functional for most of the day. Rain makes me want to stay in and kill time by drinking, what lse is there to do? This fucking blows monkey nuts. And I swear if I hear Frosty the Jizz bucket one more time I'm going to burn down a christmas tree.
Btw, I love how this thread turned into a "this sucks" thread after being a back to the future thread. With such a faggy name for a thread this is the best place to just talk about shitty things. BEST THREAD IN THE WORLD!

I hate this damn rain. I hate the damn winter too. I also hate that my buddy left his car keys in San Diego, which meant we couldn't go to the Hoover Dam. Damn.

Sounds like an awful xmas eve to me. Why is this suppose to be the time of happiness and people are just getting screwed left and right? Time for me to hit the shitty roads and go to a family gathering 30 minutes away. Goddammit, fuck.

I'm off for 2 weeks. The company basically shut down operations for 2 weeks and put us all "on-call" status.
So far, no calls, so all is well.
But, I am a contractor on the side as well, and that business knows no holidays....but I can kinda schedule that stuff when I want.

Ugh, who needs that fucking stress. Is there no compassion in the world?
Last night coming home I passed a nice fucked up car, luckily no traffic jam for me but that ass was a selfish prick skidding and fucking his shit up. It could have ruined someone elses day, the fucks.

Nah... I'm feeling very Marlon Brando. I got an offer that I'm just not sure if I can refuse...
About 3 weeks ago, I had a really shitty week at work, so I sent a couple of resumes out... I really was not thinking much about it... was not planning to make a jump quite yet, but wanted to keep my options open. I got a couple of calls last week, so I accepted a couple of interviews... again, I wasn't thinking much of it. I figured that interviewing occasionally is good practice, and what's the worst thing that happens? I get an offer and turn it down, because I am happy where I am? Anyway, the interview on Wednesday morning went really well and the offer came in yesterday afternoon.
I really DO like my job... but the financial increase would be HUGE, I'd get my evenings and weekends back, and the career benefits would be phenomenal... and my inappropriate coworker does not work there...

Well, I really LIKE my job... I love doing crisis work. The new job is for a program in under the psychiatry department of a medical center (a huge plus) but the program itself is a substance abuse treatment program (a minor minus)...
The other partial downside is the location... the neighborhood is COMPLETE shitsville, and while I have no problem working in bad areas, I need to think about my safety a little bit. The commute would increase from 10 miles to 37 miles with $90/month parking or an hour train ride with $250/month for a monthly ticket... but it would be nice to have a job accesible by train (and close to the A, C, 2 & 3 trains)... I also like working in an urban environment much more than my current suburban job. Another bonus is that because the job is in Brooklyn, I have the potential of an additional $26,000 in student loan cancelling *if* the state funding does not disappear...
And the final factor of hesitation is the schedule... whilst I am not so thrilled to work Sun-Thurs 2:30-11pm... the new job would be M-F 6a-2:30p... leaving for work at 5am is SCARY early...

"Well, I really LIKE my job... I love doing crisis work."
I guess I just don't relate to this.
I have friends, a married couple. He is a financial services salesman (not a financial adviser, a salesman). She has an interior design degree and works for a small firm with a casual fun trendy hip work environment but known for savagely underpaying and trying to cut corners financially. He pulls in about 50K...could be more with incentives....she's pulling in somewhere in the 30s.
She knows she could probably command double her salary at a more established firm, but doesn't want to leave the comfortability.
And oh by the way, they are in debt consolidation mode meanwhile.
I just don't get this thinking.

or an hour train ride with $250/month for a monthly ticket
Until the fares go up 25% on June 1st, as seems to be the case. And dont forget the $50-100 for subway fares, on top...
An hour train ride, to the subway...how much longer is the subway ride?
And you would leave at 5AM for a job that starts at 6AM in Brooklyn? I see being late everywhere you go is not going to change!

In this economy, to secure another job with a salary increase is commendable.
If the benefits of taking this position are substantial, then the pain in the ass factors involving the commute and the hours could be outweighed.
Also, at that hour or arrival, I would think about driving to work vs. dealing with the train. You can fly on the Belt to get to work by 6 but traffic does start to build when you leave at 2:30; it shouldn't be too terrible at that hour but it gets worse as the afternoon progresses.
You're already making a car payment and the way I see it, the commuting costs between the LIRR, NYCT & station parking is the equivalent of another car payment and I seriously doubt you will be blowing 5 bills a month to gas your car for work.
