Well, it's that time of year, and what a great year it was for celebrity deaths!
This year, I'm going to name a MVP for 2009 in our pool. That honor goes to AJ Freakz, whose pick of Michael Jackson sent this death pool on its ear. Best pick of all time.
So as the message board gets older, our lists are growing. Here are the past picks, and the 2010 picks will be at the bottom. Picks with the line through it are dead. I have a 3 year streak of at least killing one person.
Previous picks.
1. Bob Barker 2. Bob Shepard 3. Kirk Douglas 4. Mickey Rooney 5. Farrah Fawcett
Unfortunately, none of these people died this year. But I still feel lucky with these 5, and will stick to it. The last thing I want to do is remove someone from my list and have them die.
2008:
6. Bobby Heenan 7. Betty White 8. Fidel Castro 9. Bobby Murcer 10. For the young pick--Brittney Spears.
The 2009 list.
11. Amy Weinhouse 12. Patrick Swayze 13. Kim Jong Il 14. Chyna 15. Elizabeth Taylor
2010:
16: Ruth Bader Ginsburg (US Supreme Court) 17. Peter Gammons 18. Margaret Thatcher 19 Steve Jobs 20. Kirstee Alley

Can we just get 5 picks to rule out all this previous years stuff?

I thought the previous rollover was the beauty of this thing.
Me:
2008/2009 rollovers are: Lindsay Lohan, Abe Vigoda, Ernie Harwell, Tony Bennett, Bob Sheppard, George Steinbrenner, Jeff Conaway, OJ Simpson
2010: Peter O'Toole, John Wooden, Rush Limbaugh, Vern Troyer, Gary Busey

Why would you want to eliminate living people from your list?

Liz--if you had Ruby Dee in 2009, you don't have to repeat. She's still on the list. You can feel free to edit.

The only change I made from 2009 was replacing Adam West with Carol Channing, who was on my 2008 list.

That's fine, though you're not limited to 5. You can add more. Gives you more people to root for as the years go by.
I have a nice consecutive streak going, where at least one person has been knocked off my list in each year.

Pick your 5 people, and that's it. What fun is a death pool when you have 200 entries?

The fun isn't the entries. The fun is when someone dies and you get to say, "I called it."
Besides, it will take 40 years before we have 200 entries.

I dunno, it's like betting all the numbers in roulette. Plus I forgot what I had last year.

That's why we keep the other threads around. Just click on the 2009 thread, and it should be there. In roulette, there are only about 30 numbers. Here, there are thousands of celebrities.

Who's Mitch Miller?
Jack LaLanne is an interesting call. It would suck if he died because here's a man who dedicated his whole life to physical fitness, and late into his 90s, he's doing phenomenal. So is his wife.
If he doesn't make 100, that would blow ass.

That's like a completed pass being overturned on an instant replay. Nice try though, but sadly, he's still alive. I like the movie Beer League.

Fucking hell! Its March and its the 1st day this year that I've logged on to Heckle house. Whats the situation with any predictions I make? Last year there were thoughts that a prediction in march was "too late" for 2009 & should be logged as 2010s. Personally, I think if you guys are carrying over your predictions anyway then it shouldnt matter that its March.

Bob -perennially on this list- Sheppard
G. - very common pick- Steinbrenner
Ted -oh come on its brain cancer- Kennedy Sumner Redstone -- this recession will kill him Steve Jobs - oh how I hope I am 100% wrong on this one!
