Well, last night sucked monkey.
Is Park Korean for Wang?
The hitters did their jobs, though Granderson did what he does against lefties and failed.
Tex in April=bad.
Well, at least historically.
Too bad we weakened the pen. Bit us in the ass in Game 1.

Chan Ho Park fucking sucks.
I know last night was only one game. But it's the way the lost. Squandered TWO leads.
I'm not just piling on now, I didn't like the Park signing since day one and I'm sure there are posts here from me stating as much dating back to the day of his signing.
He's been hovering around or above a 5.00 ERA since 2002. He was a flash in the pan early in his career, but he's clearly been done for a LONG LONG TIME. This was a shithead signing by the Yankees and throughout the season he'll hurt us more than he helps us.

Eh. I said Park is Korean for Wang in a text message.
CC did shit it late, but it's opening day, and Girardi should have yanked him a little earlier.
It's a bit unfair to completely write Park off as a reliever. As a starter, he's done. But he's not a starter.

Let's give him a few weeks. But I think he will end up in the "he sucks" category.

It's BS, I know ratings are through the roof, but shouldn't each of these squads work ou the kinks before playing when it matters on opening day?? I much rather see them deeper in the season than right off to bat.......Yanks lineup looks solid, Johnson is going to see a ton of pitches and be able to create opportunity. Granderson is gonna have a great year with bat & glove.....Tex just needs to rebound from early season swoons from past......& final piece is gonna be bridging that 8th inning gap.....Aceves is a stud!!! Joba emotions always equal success but insights the other team....F'ck Joba.....do you......let's see how Andy does, plus Yanks have taxed their bully pretty hard last 2 games.

HILARIOUS
Nick Johnson been to the plate 9 times, is 0-5, .000 batting average, .500 OBP with an RBI.

As long as he gets on base who cares if it is a hit or walk...just another guy on base for Tex and A-Rod.

He can't run, so a hit is better than a walk. Hits do matter.

I don't know if you're much of a hockey fan, Balls. But you can think of baserunners like shots on goal.
Why would anyone care about shots on goal...why wouldn't we only care about goals? Well, clearly if the opportunity to score goals (shots on goal) are plentiful, then it's safe to assume that goals will be more plentiful than they are for the teams that don't have a lot of shots on goal.
You seem to have a real ax to grind with guys that walk a lot. A baserunner is a viable opportunity for a run, no matter how he got there. Nick Johnson has a .000 batting average but has been on base 50% of his plate appearances. If that keeps up, those walks are going to translate to runs at some point. It's nothing to turn your nose up at.
This is also why you savagely underrate Giambi.

I guess it's unclear. I don't mind walking a lot. I like that, but you have to HIT too. A low average matters when pitchers throw strikes. Johnson though doesn't fit into the category of guys I don't like though. He hit .290, which is a very good average.
He did it all except hit HRs, and I don't mind that because of the team he plays on. I don't like that he's in the 2 spot though because his lack of speed will lead to DPs and base clogging.

Number 2 is perfect for him. High OBP guys with less power (Jeter, Johnson) should ALWAYS be the tablesetters.
Tex and Arod are linedrive and fly ball hitters mostly, so double plays won't be that rampant.

A few things - I'm STILL not a Chan Ho Park fan. I think it will play out that Aceves is our middle relief, Joba will wind up in the 8th.
I like what we're seeing from Swisher, but the pessimist in me knows this cannot last.
I love the outfield defensive replacements late in the game - we have three viable, skilled center-fielders playing the outfield all at once. I think you're going to see that configuration pay dividends in the long run.

Park is more talented than Aceves. At the end of the day, Park will slot fine into his role, and be a boost to our pen. Joba had one crap appearance, and one dominant appearance. Jury still out on him, Im far from sold.

But being a table setter is not a true fit for Johnson because he is so slow.
If Park is better than Aceves, that's a great pickup for the Yankees, because Aceves is really solid. Park is garbage as a starter, but can be stellar as a reliever.

The paramount skill to being a table setter is getting on base. Speed is a nice to have (Kenny Lofton, Ricky Henderson), but clearly secondary.
Like I said, I'd rather have Nick Johnson's high OBP ensuring that Tex and A-Rod have runners (slow or fast) to knock in.

I guess the real issue here is that, there is no one on this team better suited to hit #2 other than Jeter who is hitting leadoff...and if you switched them, then you're faced with the issue of Jeter's propensity for hitting into DPs.
Who else would you have. You want speed? Cano? He doesn't have nearly a good enough OBP. Gardner? He's not on base at all.

I have to agree that Johnson is probably the best call. You need both speed AND OBP. Granderson is the ideal #2 guy but the man can't hit a lefty. Too bad we can't give Granderson's speed to Johnson. Then it would be Johnny who.

Ehh, I'll sacrifice Damon's speed for Johnson's far superior OBP.
I wanted Damon back too....and not too thrilled about having to get 2 guys to make up for Damon's stats....but Granderson's power numbers eclipse Damon's, and Johnson is on base more.

Damon's power, speed, and ability to hit in the clutch makes him the better player. Plus his durability also is a factor.
Hopefully Johnson will stay healthy and do what he does.

So in yesterday's game, the A's pitcher Dallas Braden made a big deal out of ARod walking on the mound after he got out. Wow. This guy has like 2 wins in the majors, and he's calling out ARod?
He was saying things to ARod, like "get off MY mound." Serious? And he continued jawing over it after the inning was over AND to the press after the game.
When ARod does something bush like the "ha" play, I get it. But Braden is a jackass.

Outstanding game last night. Well, at least the ending was outstanding. I guess Park had diarrhea again.
Very little tops a walk off win against Boston.

Yeah, that was one of those games the Yankees always seem to pull out, adding to the drama. Fun all around. While I missed it as it was Monday Night Raw evening, I had the pic in pic going, and followed pretty much every batter on the Blackberry.
They wont be playing tonight, so its kind of nice they will be able to sit on this one for a bit.
Happy Hughes did not get a loss, though he came back to Earth. That may have been needed, cause way too many people are already talking Cy Young. Not many bigger fans of Hughes than me, but lets chill out here.
