The ESPN commercial where Irwin tackles the Florida Gator mascot in the hall and is actually wrestled to a disadvantage is a hoot. That bad boy can be found on YouTube.

Wow this is getting interesting....The Death of Daniel Smith has been found to be "suspicious"
"The death of Anna Nicole Smith's 20-year-old son was termed "suspicious" by the coroner's office Wednesday, and a formal inquiry that could lead to criminal charges has been scheduled.
Authorities said at least one other person was in the hospital room when Daniel Wayne Smith died Sunday while visiting his mother, a reality TV star and former Playboy playmate, three days after she gave birth to a baby girl.
"I can confirm that there was definitely a third person in the room at the time of death and I do know who that person is," Virgill said. "But I am unwilling to reveal that information at this time for various reasons."

Ex-Yankeee exec (other teams, as well) Syd Thrift, from AP:
Syd Thrift, who spent nearly 50 years in pro baseball as a player, scout and executive, died Monday in Milford, Del., the Baltimore Orioles announced. He was 77.
Thrift had undergone knee replacement surgery at Milford Hospital, and an autopsy was scheduled to determine the cause of the death, the team said.
Thrift spent eight seasons in the team's front office as vice president for basball operations, after front-office jobs with the Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates, Oakland Athletics and Kansas City Royals.

Don't remember his name but the guy that says "tequila" in the song "Tequila" has died. The report of his death was on the net for about a minute.
Guess a shot of tequila is in order.

That little ditty has been around for almost 50 years. Hey, way to sign away the rights, idiot!
Danny Flores, composer of "Tequila," a huge hit for the Champs in 1958, has died. He was 77.
Flores, who performed under the name Chuck Rio, lived in Westminster for years. He died Tuesday, family members said, after suffering for years from Parkinson's disease.
The classic instrumental featured Flores' instantly recognizable saxophone line and his periodic growl of the sole lyric – "Tequila!"
Though the song sold millions and has been prominently featured in movies such as "Pee-wee's Big Adventure," Flores made only a fraction of what he might have.
A heavy drinker during the early days of the band, Flores signed away his rights to the U.S. royalties for a pittance. European rights brought in about $70,000 a year, he said in an interview with the Register in 2000.
"Everybody is OK with his death, only because he knew that when he died he was going home to God," said Kirk Munsell, who grew up around Flores after Munsell's sister Sharee married Flores 33 years ago.
"I think as we leave the church, a lot of people play hymns, but we're going to play 'Tequila' today," Munsell said of the services held today at Forest Lawn-Cypress.

Songwriter Paul Vance, who earned pop culture immortality with the 1960 smash about a bashful bather, "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini," has died. He was 68. The New Milford-raised Vance, whose real name was Paul Van Valkenburgh, died Sept. 6 at his home in Ormond Beach, Fla., said his wife of 32 years, Rose Leroux. He had been battling lung cancer for two years.

Just hit the wires today. His family held this one close to the vest, what can I tell ya. Well, here's a fresh one for ya. Byron Nelson, who had the greatest year in the history of professional golf when he won 18 tournaments in 1945, including a record 11 in a row, died Tuesday. He was 94. His death was confirmed by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office. No cause of death was listed on its Web site. Known as Lord Byron for his elegant swing and gentle manner, Nelson won 31 of 54 tournaments in 1944-45. Then, at age 34, he retired after the 1946 season to spend more time on his Texas ranch. That incentive pushed Nelson to become one of the best players of his era. He won the Masters in 1937 and '42, the U.S. Open in 1939 and the PGA Championship in 1940 and '45. He also finished second once in the U.S. Open, twice in the Masters and three times in the PGA. Nelson played in British Open only twice, finishing fifth in 1937.

Balls, enough. You're entertaining no one but yourself. I wish you would stop with this stupid gimmick of yours and help keep this a semi-serious place to post. You act like you're in 4th grade.

From Fox News: Tamara Dobson, the stunning Amazonian model-turned-actress who portrayed a strong female role as Cleopatra Jones in two so-called blaxploitation films, has died. At 6 feet, 2 inches tall and with a traffic-stopping, hourglass figure, Dobson was striking as the kung-fu fighting, huge-Afro-wearing government agent Cleopatra Jones in 1973. She reprised the role in 1975's "Cleopatra Jones and the Casino of Gold." "She was not afraid to start a trend. She designed a lot of the clothing that so many women emulated. With the knowledge from her degree and her natural creativity, she helped develop elegant fashions, especially for tall women," her brother, Peter Dobson of Houston, said. Dobson also appeared in "Come Back, Charleston Blue," "Norman, Is That You?" "Murder at the World Series," and "Chained Heat." She had TV roles in the early 1980s in "Jason of Star Command" and "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century."

John "Buck" O'Neil has left us. In recent years I was weary of this guy popping up all over the place, and he even took some at-bats this spring as a promo for some minor league team, but he was quite the ambassador for the game, and a living testament to the Negro Leagues. A very important name in the history of baseball, and I lift this glass of brandy to my right in his name. Balls, leave your stupid jokes out of this thread. I would like this to stay a thread of reference and respect. mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060928&content_id=1687696&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
