Teddy Pendergrass, who became R&B's reigning sex symbol in the 1970s and '80s with his forceful, masculine voice and passionate love ballads and later became an inspirational figure after suffering a devastating car accident that left him paralyzed, died Wednesday at age 59.

Leafing through the POST after dinner just now noticed sportscaster Art Rust Jr died Tuesday at 82. Being an oldster, I remember him from his days hosting sports talk at WABC-AM in the 80s, pretty much against the FAN. He also wrote some sports books and did some tv. He passed after a long battle with Parkinsons.

Arthur George, you're on the air!
Remember listening to him when the FAN was just starting out. He'd follow the Yanks on 77.

Apparently JD Salinger, author of the overrated Catcher in the Rye, has died. 91 years old. So says his son.

Sometimes a good one hits you instantly. Best one I can remember since Tug McGraw died and I said, "you gotta bereave."

R.I.P. Donald Goerke
Spaghettios Inventor Donald Goerke Dies At 83.
Donald Goerke was 83. A Campbell spokesman confirmed that Goerke died of heart failure Sunday in his home in Delran.
He was the marketing research director of Campbell's Franco-American line in the early 1960s when his group started dreaming up pasta in shapes that would appeal to kids.
He chose the o's. They were marketed with the unforgettable tag line, "Uh-oh, SpaghettiOs."

That sauce for spaghetti-Os, while highly recognizable, was downright awful.

It was West Egg and East Egg in The Great Gatsby (Great Neck and Manhasset).
ETA: I should add that East Egg might be Sands Point or Manorhaven.

easy now, high school was quite a number of years ago... Ronnie was still in the WH, first term. It was West Egg and East Egg in The Great Gatsby (Great Neck and Manhasset). ETA: I should add that East Egg might be Sands Point or Manorhaven.

It was that far west? I had assumed it was supposed to be somewhere around Oyster Bay... although I have not picked up a Fitzgerald novel since, well, some time during the 2nd term of that aforementioned President.
I was a bit younger than Pete... Miami Vice was my favorite show, my locker was plastered with pictures of Don Johnson, I had Madonna's Like A Virgin & Whitney Houston's first album on vinyl, my MOM took my brother and I to see Back to the Future in the theatres, Dave Winfield was my favorite Yankee, the Super Bowl Shuffle was playing on Z100 & the NY Mets had only won one World Series, ever.
