Ron Carey, who played Officer Levitt on Barney Miller, has gone to that 12th Precinct in the sky... Who would have ever thought that he would be outlived by Abe Vigoda (who is still alive).

*** the thing about this is that I knew...and by "knew" I mean we ran around amongst the same cricle of people...Brent as well as Mike Ness, John Mauer, Johnny Wickersham, Dennis Dannell and others. It's really funny, in a not so funny way, that Mike Ness is more or less a rock star God in punk rock circles these days, while Liles was a 43 year man riding a BMX bike across the crosswalk of a freeway onramp....all you need to know is that a 43 year old man was on a kid's bike to know that Liles' life hadn't taken a turn for the better lately.***
Brent Liles Posted in ODD Guests, Music on January 22nd, 2007 From the OC Register comes word that
Brent Liles, early Social Distortion bassist, was killed by big rig in Placentia California.
Liles played bass on the group’s groundbreaking “Mommy’s Little Monster” recording in 1983 and went on to play with other well-known Orange County punk acts such as the group Agent Orange. He was 43.
“Brent was a fun-loving guy who approached his bass playing with a lot of enthusiasm and that made him a lot of fun to be around,” said Frank Agnew, a fellow musician and friend.
Liles, wearing casual clothing, was riding a small dirt bicycle westbound on Orangethorpe Avenue just after 11:30 a.m. Thursday, California Highway Patrol officials said.
As he entered the crosswalk at the Orange (57) Freeway, a big rig carrying a trailer turned right onto the on-ramp and accelerated, hitting Liles. He was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
The driver, Javier Lopez of Rancho Cucamonga, was turning on a green light. He was not immediately cited, CHP officials said. The crash is still being investigated.

"Killed by big rig" just sounds wrong.
Rest in peace.

The stingray regime had been looking for some real recognition for years but was always in the shadows of other ocean terrorists such as the great white sharks and certain scorpion fish sleeper cells. Steve Irwin's death has put them on the map.
In all seriousness, I like his daughter Bindi! She's not torn up over it, either, she is a smart and adorable girl who could possible bring some respect to the Irwin name when all is said and done.

Eh, I find Bindi polarizing. There are just as many people griping about her on TV that there are happy about it. And thats never a good thing for an innocent entertainer.
As to stingrays, I am more a giant squid sort of guy.

You think this will affect the reality show?
The truly sad part is all the money that is going to go to the government because of the death tax.
