For me 1998-2001 was the sweetspot on Raw..........Things like when The Rock threw the Stone Cold belt into the river (I think it was Detroit) and the like......I think this DVD is a must have just because it includes a Mean Street Posse Match..........Pete Gas is gold!!! People don't realize how rough the streets of Greenwich, CT really are.....

I'm looking foward to the Owen vs Shawn from 95. IfIm not mistaken, that's the "concussion" angle where Raw goes off with dead air. Btw, all HBKs idea, Vince wanted to sit there and still call the aftermath as Raw goes off the air, but Shawn talked him into it. Genius. Not even the EMTs knew what was going on. Oh and his match with Shelton from the gold rush tournament is a great fucking match. Let's not forget the greatest superkick of all time when he taugh Hogan lesson.
Im also happy the entire HHH/Steph wedding is on there. I remember marking out huge when that happened and was pissed that Raw ended, I wanted more. Then I marked out bigger when Steph turned on Vince on the PPV. Fucking great. It really looks like a solid DVD, I will def be purchasing this.

I could care less about that RAW DVD, what I will get and I expect to spend many posts here with Captain and Emails with Tom is the WCCW DVD.
Von Erichs Vs. Freebirds is can't miss.

The WCCW set is supposed to drop this coming Tuesday, but people have found it in stores already, and Amazon is shipping it. Yeah, its a must grab, I am going to make a move for it just after Christmas with some of the moolah/gift certificates I am sure to hoard. The documentary portion is supposed to be hot stuff, but many are "dissapointed" with the extras. They do, however, show the infamous Christmas 82 cage match in its entirety, and yeah, the whole thing has Freebirds/Von Erichs all over it.
That said, I must admit I am very happy with the listings for this Raw DVD set. I do have just about all that stuff on various tapes, but this will be a good thing to have all in one place.

--If you get the Raw 15th DVD at Wal-Mart, there is a bonus disc that contains the very first episode of Raw from January 11, 1993 (thanks to Richard Wierzbowski) www.wrestlingobserver.com I got the World Class and XPW discs for Christmas - whoo hoo - and will be discussing both in due time.

That is because I'm awesome.
I think you can order from Walmart online and still get the extra. I did that when the Hogan dvd came out and the Walmart one had an extra disc or something.

Saw this on a fairly reputed site, gerweck.net. Most of these releases I had murmerings about, but there are some surprises....Sting? Yeah, WWE has all the WCW footage, but the guy STILL works for TNA (and recently signed an extension that will keep him making sporadic appearances for them)
I cant buy everything...sign me up for the Hardys (Emma loves em), Starcade, Mr Perfect (been waiting for this one) and probably the Savage releases. I am on the fence with the Austin disc, he used to be my favorite wrestler but that ship sailed and I have seen his footage played to death.
Here is WWE's tentative non-PPV DVD release schedule for 2008.
2/12: The Legacy of Stone Cold Steve Austin 3/25: Triple H: The King of Kings 5/6: Evolution of the Hardys 6/3: The Rock 7/8: Best of Starrcade 8/5: 20-disc SummerSlam Anthology 8/5: Life and Times of Mr. Perfect 11/4: Edge 11/18: RANDY SAVAGE: MACHO MADNESS 12/9: STING

Sting? I realize they own the footage to his pre-TNA career, but why do something to promote a wrestler for another organization? If he were a free agent, it would make sense. Savage is a different story, since he's not a part of TNA.

Actually, early murmerings are wondering if Savage is the one who is going to be baked like a cake. There is real heat there. Even the word "Madness" in the title, although part of Savage's catchphrase, can be spun to entitle a riff on him.
As to Sting, WWE has no reason - nor any ammunition - to work him over. And why would they. He was a centerpiece of a promotion they now own the library of, is a quality guy all around, and had a Hell of a career and matches to put out a good set.

The reason is quite simple, money. Anyone who is going to buy the set because they are a Sting fan from before he was with TNA already knows he is with TNA now so it isn't like they are going to stop watching WWE and only watch TNA, either they have already done that, or they follow both. Also, there may be people (though probably not many) who only really know Sting from TNA and may like him enough to spend some money to see his old matches and stuff. There is nothing for them to "lose" on the deal.

Also, way things are now Sting may wrestle as few as 3, or as many as 5, matches for TNA all year. He is inherently done. Putting out a Sting disc right now would be nothing like putting out an Angle or Booker disc, at this point they can be considered TNA fixtures. Sting is an added attraction that makes appearances for them.
What makes me laugh is Balls is questioning this, but he would have been first in line without asking any questions if the WWE put out a Backlund set while Backlund was wasting time running around TNA acting like a crazy person.

Why would the WWE not want to cash in on the footage of one of the top ten some say top 5 wrestlers of all time? It's not like they aren't showing him on 24/7 at all. LOL

Mr. Backlund has a pretty big history with the WWE, and if you notice, the WWE did NOT do anything of the sort while Mr. Backlund was under contract with TNA. They'll make some money, but they will be making money for TNA as well.

What the fuck are you talking about? Stop arguing just for the sake of arguing, you are testing the patience of EVERYONE.

Mr. Backlund = big history with WWE
Sting = big in wrestling history overall
Let it go. Your penny pinching scrooge ways are not comparable to someone who has billions. Vince will make more on this then TNA will make on Sting, and he knows this, and could care less about the trivial amount TNA makes off it.
So help me god you dare fucking start this argument I will quit this board and never come back.

Shit Balls, really what the fuck are you thinking? I agree with Dana, any moron already knows where he wrestles, it's not promoting him as much as it is capaitalizing on him, again like Dana said, a lot of people are familiar with him cause of his latest TNA stint so why not get some of their money to see pre TNA shit? You're making Grover leave for this? For fucks sake just leave the wrestling talk to the people who know wrestling, you make it impossible to have any real discussions in this section.

I left 39 and that was that, and for real reasons. And I'm not dwelling on it a year and a half later.
You just argue for the sake of arguing, and then accuse me of doing what you do.
I'm not making Grover leave. It's up to him. I'd like him to stay, but I sure as hell won't kiss his ass to make him stay.
But I am tired of the constant crying. Look at what happened. All I did was comment on the idea of promoting a star of another organization. There was no reason to jump down my throat for that.
And James shut the fuck up already with the pompous "leave wrestling talk for the people who know wrestling" shit. There was absolutely nothing wrong with bringing up what I brought up. You're just being a dick, and if you don't like what I say, fuck you. Get over it.
You are not some wrestling guru, and I've been watching wrestling since you were crapping in your diapers. It's almost like you have a stock answer no matter what. Here's a simple fact for your simple mind--I will comment on any wrestling topic I choose when I choose to. You have no control, or no say over what I post. Therefore, you have a choice--either comment back, or do not comment back. And this will be the last time I will respond to one of your pompous rants. The sad part is, when you leave that stuff out, like in the first half of your post, you could have had a decent point.
Capitalizing on Sting is understandable, but they have a lot of stuff in their library without promoting stars of TNA. You don't see them doing Kurt Angle or Booker T stuff. Name another TNA wrestler that the WWE promoted specifically.
If you want to say, "hey, there's money to be made, and they don't care," cool. But jumping down someone's throat for thinking that isn't the greatest idea is just you being a dickhead.
The only reason it's impossible to have a real discussion is because people like you need to lace every comment with bitching.

Post by cactusjames on Dec 30, 2007 21:14:45 GMT -5
As opposed to what? You're dumb jokes and lame references that put a halt on every conversation? Sorry my opinon that every discussion dies at your hands upsets you, as you pointed out, I'm allowed to express my opinion so fuck you, get over it if it doesn't please you. Fact is, everyone in the wrestling section says the same thing, there's always bitching cause you inject every post with malarky and nothing is ever relevant, you kill any kind of discussion with some obscure reference to some 80's or 90's douche. I know you choose to comment on whatever, but it never has substance, so for people who try and have a real discussion about wrestling, it can't happen. I could give a fuck if you respond or not, you ruin this shit for more people than just me, but I guess it don't matter to you. Soon you'll be the only one in here having discussions with yourself about hogan, Backlund and Buschwhacker Luke, so it works out in your favor. Ass.
Btw, your take on the Sting dvd is absurd and wrong.

What kills the discussions is your constant whining and your parrotting of other people. Not to mention your elitist attitude over something that is one of the least elite topics you can have. You don't like the jokes? Tough shit. Don't respond. But the fact is, you interject yourself into things that have nothing to do with you, which only makes things worse. No one was talking to you but you had to stick your nose in it, not about the actual topic, but about me. That's what brings this section down.
Again, you have a choice, either respond, or do not respond, but the way you currently handle things does a lot more to hurt this section than a reference to an actual wrestler.

Because people like to fight with me. Seriously--all that happened here was I asked about the idea of marketing another organization's wrestler. That's like McDonalds marketing the Whopper. I didn't ask Grover or James to jump down my throat.

Balls, stop baiting us. If you can figure out legal issue fine print you can figure out that Vince knows TNA will not win anyone over on a guy who is wrestling 2 to 3 times a month. You're looking at it YOUR way, and not Vince's way.
And don't compare Sting to Backlund, because there is none.

Actually by the time this DVD drops Sting may be wresling 2 or 3 times a year. He was worked out what is being described as a VERY limited schedule. Thats good, too - at this point in time Sting works best in small doses.
