The top pics are very apropos for this tale here, good job with timing, Balls.
Tommy Lasorda, all 81 years old of him, is filling in for Joe Torre who is with the "A Dodger team" who is headed to Japan. So he is managing his first game in years yesterday, and James Loney taps a grounder the ump calls fair, and Loney is nipped on. Lasorda goes bezerk, runs to the field, shouts down the ump, apparently kicks dirt and puts on a show, and is run out of the game.
What a maniac! LOL

You guys have to admit, this whole story is beyond gay, and the fact that he produced a friggin' SKETCH of his bride is beyond campy. The guy is the laughing stock of the baseball blogosphere. Nice drawing, jerk!

This is more of a Yankee story, but the fact is, he managed to con Jeter and Abreu out of $1000, which is pretty damn funny.

Yeah, if you forget the fact that losing $1000 to a ballplayer is like long a dime to us.
And "Yankee story" or no - its a jokey LOL story that makes all parties involved look stupid. It was certainly not worth its own thread, thus its placement in baseball lol.

This is a wack one...how funny is it that the girls name was Alexa Rodriguez. Another thing on that....that may be the first non-white person ever seen in the stands at Fenway that was not cleaning it. FOXNEWS.COM HOME > U.S. Hawk Attacks Girl on Tour of Boston's Fenway ParkBOSTON — Once again, an A-Rod got an unfriendly welcome from the home of Red Sox Nation.
This time, it was 13-year-old Alexa Rodriguez and not the Yankees All-Star third baseman Alex Rodriguez.
She was touring Fenway Park on a school trip Thursday and was attacked by a resident red-tailed hawk that drew blood from her scalp. Rodriguez wasn't seriously hurt.
Vince Jennetta, a teacher who chaperoned her class trip from Memorial Boulevard Middle School in Bristol, Conn., told The Boston Globe that Alexa is "a little shaken, but OK."
The hawk was perched on a railing in the upper deck behind home plate while the group toured the stadium. The hawk flew at the girl and swooped with its talons extended, scratching her scalp.
A single egg lay in the hawk's nearby nest in an overhang near the stadium's press booth.
The nest and egg were removed at the direction of state wildlife officials.

I blame the teacher. She should have been watching her like a hawk.

Grumble grumble grumble. It is definitely bizarre that out of however many people were on this tour, the one named Alexa Rodriguez got attacked.

Anyone catch the Baseball Tonight ad that has Kruk telling the "true story" of the Bugs game and basically mocking Joba? Guess he won't live that one down for a while. Jw

Balls, Joba is scared of mites. A lot of people around baseball would say he has NO balls.

We all watched the game Tom. Carmona was even remotely close the being swarmed with gnats the way that Joba was. Certainly the insect swarm was NOT the reason that the Yankees were outplayed from wire to wire in that series. To pin the loss on that moment - as if it was mano y mano, Joba vs Carmona, and Joba was out-dueled?

If you made a list of the top 100 reason that the Yankees lost THAT series, neither Joba nor the insects would make the list.

Joba was a savage dissapointment in that series. And no, I did not use the adjective "savage" cause of Joba's Indian heritage.
As to Lasorda, I am no fan either, per se. But I have to say, i read his autobiography many years ago, and it was hilarious. Very funny. I enjoyed it very much.

LOL @ this. From the POST, regarding the contest to pick the Mutts a new "8th inning song"
"The online prank the resulted in more than 5 million write-in votes for Rick Astley's cheesy 80s hit "Never Gonna Give You Up" to be the 8th inning song fell flat yesterday. The crowd roundly booed the song when it was played."

LOL - especially the bolded part! And "charged with affray."
TAMPA -- Rays reliever Al Reyes was arrested early Friday morning after "falling down, picking a fight and spitting blood at the patrons of a popular Hyde Park night spot," according to a report in the St. Petersburg Times.
Reyes was celebrating his 38th birthday on Thursday following the Rays' 7-0 win, their first victory in the past five games. Reyes did not pitch on Thursday.
"We are looking into the situation as we are just learning of it," Rays spokesman Rick Vaughn told the Times.
Witnesses said the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. ET when Reyes "fell against a ceramic pot inside the bar" and apparently thought he had been pushed. The 38-year-old than began exchanging words with patron Eduardo Mora, who promptly punched Reyes in the face. The paper reported that Reyes than "began to spit blood on the people in the area and began to swing his arms about."
Tampa Police Lt. William Ferguson wrote in the official release that Reyes "continued spitting blood and thrashing about," despite frequent attempts by the police to contain the 230-pound right-hander.
Reyes was Tasered twice after refusing command from police authorities to stay down.
According to the Tampa Tribune, Reyes was eventually calmed, but refused to be transported to a hospital. The reliever was treated on the scene for a cut on his nose and charged with affray.
The paper also reported that both Reyes and Mora were released on their own recognizance.

LOL. This fucking guy. Steroid link, brother killed in a cycle wreck this year, and now this. This age lying used to be VERY common, but its so easy to root out these days less people try to play that card.
Astros star Tejada reveals he's two years older than listed
CBSSports.com wire reports PHILADELPHIA -- Houston Astros shortstop Miguel Tejada has told the team he's actually 33, two years older than he's listed in the club's media guide and other baseball records. Saying he wanted to rid himself of a burden, Tejada approached general manager Ed Wade and asked to correct misinformation he gave the Oakland Athletics when he signed in 1993.
"I was a poor kid," Tejada said before the Astros finished a three-game series against the Phillies on Thursday. "I wanted to sign a professional contract, and that was the only way to do it. I didn't want or mean to do anything wrong. At the time, I was two years older than they thought."
Tejada was actually 19 when he signed out of poverty-stricken Bani, Dominican Republic. At the time, he says, a local coach encouraged him to say he was 17.
"It was brought to our attention that the date we carry for Tejada, the year of birth, is incorrect," Wade said. "We told Miguel we were going to go ahead and make the appropriate changes and all the information was put forward. But the fact of the matter is he's playing like he was 25."
The former American League MVP was signed out of the Dominican Republic by Hall of Famer Juan Marichal, but he was clear Marichal had no part in the deception. Moreover, Wade and Tejada both said the shortstop's green card, driver's license and other legal papers in the United States reflect his actual birthday, May 25, 1974.
The Astros' media guide lists his birthday as May 25, 1976.
"It's something that happened the first time I signed my contract," Tejada said. "I had no intention of doing anything wrong. And now I feel like I'm 25 years old, maybe younger. I feel my legs are stronger than I used to be feeling. I feel great. I have a lot of energy."
