I don't know how true that really is, but that's still not the point. There is no law prohibiting eyewitness testimony alone as a general rule. And Chris--you are not right. Eyewitness testimony can be the sole reason someone gets convicted.
I've shown you case law showing that general rule. I've even called a prosecutor I know and asked him about it. He knows more criminal law than the both of us put together. But this is also a common sense thing. There are some exceptions where corroborating evidence is required. But not as a general rule.

Maybe Brendan Donnelley didn't use HGH. If it's supposed to make you heal quickly, that is.
When he got his nose busted a few seasons back, he kept bleeding like a virgin for months and months.

"Eyewitness testimony can be the sole reason someone gets convicted"
Yes, that's correct, and I've said as much many time. Eyewitness testimony can be the sole reason someone gets convicted. In order for that to happen that eyewitness testimony must be deemed credible. Exactly how does testimony become credible? With independent supporting/corroborating facts.
For example, the receipt showing me in the store at the time of the theft supports Balls' testimony that I stole the money from the cash register. Without that independent piece of information (or some other relevant facts) Balls' testimony has NO credibility and therefore will NEVER, EVER, in any court of law be sufficient evidence up which to convict, let alone arrest.
I AM right. I have stated much case law stating this verbatim and anyone from Balls to Pete to Balls' Lawyer friends, to anyone else on this board is free to research and will find endless entries upon research stating as such, and even the cases Balls himself stated (who conveniently claims after the fact that the "specifics" aren't important)
But you know what Balls....since it's SO important to you, you're right Boss....you THE MAN!

That's not supporting evidence. Of course, the witness needs to show he was there, and saw it. That's all you need. Obviously, if the witness isn't credible, his testimony means nothing. But that's not corroborating evidence. That's just showing the witness was there.
No receipt in my example. Let's say you're an employee and I saw you take some money out of the register. I can testify to that. And you can be convicted based on my testimony.

"No receipt in my example. Let's say you're an employee and I saw you take some money out of the register. I can testify to that. And you can be convicted based on my testimony" - errrrrrrr....me being an employee AND you seeing me at my place of employment at the scene of the crime AND the probability that there's a time card or something puts me at the scene of the crime - SUPPORTING EVIDENCE. You ATTENDED law school, or just enrolled?
But...Yeah....you're RIGHT... I see the light!!!! Thanks Balls.
absolutely ridiculous.

Maybe not...
if I were on trial for murder and Balls were prosecuting and I had to endure his persistent denial even while be slapped in the face with fact (think about EVERY long standing argument that Balls has been involved in: Jason Giambi, the statistical concept of an average (batting), this legal concept, Don Mattingly, and the list goes on and on ... in which he relentlessly refutes established fact) over and over, I might change my plea to guilty regardless of the truth, just to end the insanity already.

That's NOT corroborating evidence. By your logic, there is corroborating evidence from McNammee just based on the fact that he was an employee of the Yankees.

That's not entirely accurate AJ, because in Balls' case he would assume it's accurate just because it's HIS advice...and even if proven wrong, he'd go to the grave defending it anyway.

Seems SEVERAL of the NY papers are calling for Clemens to put his money where his mouth is, and testify before Congress.
That's risky unless he really is innocent. If more evidence is dug up, he could face perjury charges if he lies.
He can't win a defamation suit because he's a public figure, and there's a different standard which Clemens could never meet.

I know that. You want to talk boring, yesterday, I was so bored, I was counting the dandruff flakes on the jacket of the guy in front of me. In the two days, I also counted the number of ceiling tiles in the room, the number of light fixtures, and the number of bald guys within my immediate vicinity.

I read a 400 page book a week. I have not yet read the Mitchelll report, cause quite frankly it will bore me. I have read voluminous accounts of what is in it, and opinion and snippets of it online and in the papers.
But stop acting like stopping to read something is an impossibility. I guess it is when you spend your time watching One Day at a Time episodes over and over, but I choose to read.

I don't know everything at all, but some of the things we were talking about weren't opinions. They were facts. It would be like you arguing that Aaron hit 423 HRs, while I am showing you 755 over and over.
I was reading this book called the Iowa Baseball Confederacy, by the same guy who wrote Field of Dreams. Not all that impressed with the book.
