I saw the title of this thread and I thought you were going to munch on some crow and admit your grudging surprise that the Fantasia Barrino movie was not only the NUMBER ONE RATED SHOW ON CABLE last week, but the replay was NUMBER THREE. And you say she has "no buzz." Fantasia is big business, and although I hate her music stylings and dont care for her personally, she was a worthy Idol winner.

Summer reruns, and it was heavily promoted. Still doesn't change that no one buys that crap she calls music and that she sucks. Far more impressive were the ratings of the William Shatner Roast, which aired at 10pm on a less watched network.

Those Shatner ratings were NOT impressive. While it was the 3rd most watched "roast" on Comedy Central (out of what, 5?) it had HALF THE AUDIENCE of the Jeff Foxworthy roast. It also trailed the Pam Anderson one. Yeah, carry the flag for that one, Balls. Thats a crushing blow. And just cause something is "heavily promoted" does not mean people will watch. "Snakes on a Plane" anyone?

The Shatner ratings were the highest of any original program on Comedy Central in 2006. It is widely being heralded as a success. Considering American Idol has an audience of 20 million, 6.6 million for Fantasia only shows how forgotten she really is.

Who cares? HALF THE AUDIENCE OF THE JEFF FOXWORTHY ROAST. And saying you are the #1 rated show on Comedy Central is like saying you are the least smelliest cow dropping on a barn floor. It is widely being heralded as a success. Considering American Idol has an audience of 20 million, 6.6 million for Fantasia only shows how forgotten she really is.
Sorry, but that does not work. AGAIN, #1 rated show on all of cable for the week, and the replay was #3. Considering it slaughtered the Shatner roast, for one, tells me Shatner may be the forgotten one.

Given the timeslots of the two programs, and the demographic, Shatner kicked her ass.

Back to the topic, apparently, Mikalah Gordon got bitchslapped to the pavement and had a panic attack. Wish I had that on film.

I was hoping when I saw this thread that Ryan Seacrest, Simon, Paula and Randy had died in a plane carsh and the show was taken off the air.

James, that could happen in real life, and the show STILL wouldn't be taken off the air.

It's all about the ratings. The show has them. Making money hand over fist.

Still doesn't take away how horrible it is. I only watch the first few episodes when you have the really bad ones who stank up the place and then cry when they lose because they think they can sing. Same reason I like the LLWS, I love seeing those little bastards crying.

Somehow I think the LLWS crying is more entertaining.

Simon Cowell is blessing us with yet another project, the vaunted "Celebrity Duets" where some quasi-celebs sing with superstars of the music world. I am sure you are all already on board with this info, but the show will feature the likes of that pothead Cheech Marin, Fresh Prince's Alfonso Ribiero, and your favorite and mine, Chris Jericho! Starts up next Tuesday. I got the drinks on ice, and we'll be watchin!

Because a former contestant, one universally hated by everyone we know, was mugged and abused, which of course, given who she was, is funny.

And another former contestant scored huge ratings for two different showings of her biopic on the Lifetime Network.

Fantasia continues to milk the "I can't read" claim.
The current issue of PEOPLE magazine features "CELEB SUMMER READS."
Fantasia Barrino: "Let me be honest- I hate reading! But I have [learned how]. A friend gave me Billie Holiday's "Lady Sings the Blues," and I kid you not, I want to read it. She's an idol, and it's a pageturner. Thank God I'm reading!"

If only Alfonso Ribiero was performing with Tom Jones, my life would be complete. The show sounds a tad interesting but I doubt I can tolerate Wayne Brady long enough to watch any of it. These singing shows aren't exactly my thing and I tend to do what James explained-watch the first episodes and laugh at the people who suck.

Its going to be a grueling run through the show tomorrow, as the premiere is 2 full hours long. It will be replayed on Thursday, which after tonight is its normal slot.

Given that it is very likely that both my softball game and the Yankee game will be rained out today, I look forward to this, and yes, Carlton has to do Tom Jones. Carlton actually started out on Broadway before Silver Spoons. Hope they don't choose boring songs.

Got to give the crowd what they want. I am sure he's a good enough singer too.
