Another solid year for predicting death, and our 2010 MVP is definitely Pete, who killed off quite a few people this year.
I personally had a terrible year as sadly, none of my 2010 picks died. Sure, I was able to scratch off Bob Sheppard, but he's been on my list since 2007. But Pete's list took a nice hit, as FOUR people from the last two years of picks died. That's awesome.
The lists still are growing, which gives you more people to root for. Here are the past picks, and the 2011 picks will be at the bottom.
Previous picks. 2007:
1. Bob Barker 2. Bob Shepard 3. Kirk Douglas 4. Mickey Rooney 5. Farrah Fawcett
2008:
6. Bobby Heenan 7. Betty White 8. Fidel Castro 9. Bobby Murcer 10. For the young pick--Brittney Spears.
The 2009 list.
11. Amy Weinhouse 12. Patrick Swayze 13. Kim Jong Il 14. Chyna 15. Elizabeth Taylor
2010:
16: Ruth Bader Ginsburg (US Supreme Court) 17. Peter Gammons 18. Margaret Thatcher
19 Steve Jobs 20. Kirstee Alley
2011:
21. Aretha Franklin 22. Michael Douglas (first father/son combo) 23. Noel Neill 24. Zsa Zsa Gabor 25. Judge Wapner

Hmmmm I must think about this, as it is a very important thing, not to be taken lightly by any means.

Guys, just tallying the numbers, I have FOUR correct picks in 2010! 3 rollover deaths, and 1 current death (thanks for the strikethroughs, Balls): Bob Shepperd, John Wooden, George Steinbrenner, and Ernie Harwell. But to be clear, MVP honors go to those whose current year picks died that year? Rollover picks don't gain you consideration?
Going for 5 in 2011
Just to confirm - the rollovers are still intact, right?
2008/2009: Lindsay Lohan, Abe Vigoda Tony Bennett Jeff Conaway OJ Simpson
George Steinbrenner, Ernie Harwell, and John Wooden (died in 2010)
2010: Peter O'Toole Rush Limbaugh Vern Troyer Gary Busey
Bob Shepperd (died in 2010)
I'll edit this post later with my complete 2011 picks.
So far I have...
2011: Conrad Bain Dick Clark Willie Nelson (his lung collapsed in 2008) Jimmy Carter Vin Scully

The rollovers are always in tact. Why not? No money involved, and it gives you more to root for.

Ah, so Pete had more than four last year?
Also, I see Nettles had Jimmy Carter last year ... does that mean I have to remove him from my picks this year?

You do not have to remove any picks, and duplication is absolutely allowed. Basically, no rules. It's not a money pool or anything, so there are no points. You just get the pleasure of being right. We all had more than 5 last year (if you participated in multiple years). But Pete had a very good 2010, killing no less than 3 of his 5. That's a record for a single year's picks, and that doesn't include his prior year picks that keeled over.

ok, point me to the old thread. Not the 2010 version, the historical one. I see that MSB pulled all his old ones out, and now the # of picks giambi had make more sense. Balls has 25 total. Ok, cool. Giambi, your list is convoluted, but I'm sure we can figure it out.
How do ya make the line go through the names?

What Ball's did not have Gerry Rafferty this year ? I'll go for the easy "lay up" with Chuck Berry.

From 2008: #1.) Jerry Lee Lewis looked like hell at the grammys. He's on my list for this year.
Possibly Steinbrenner too considering the way people are talking about him almost posthumously already.
Richard Nixon is still dead - in case you had your doubts.
From 2009:
2.) Bob -perennially on this list- Sheppard
3.) G. - very common pick- Steinbrenner
4.) Ted -oh come on its brain cancer- Kennedy 5.) Sumner Redstone -- this recession will kill him
6.) Steve Jobs - oh how I hope I am 100% wrong on this one!
I gotta say it was nice to see Mr. Jobs made the recovery he did after that liver transplant.
From 2010: Ok, 7.) Jerry Lewis 8.) Andy Rooney 9.) Fidel Castro 10.) Conrad Bain 11.) Dennis Hopper
and now for my 2011 picks (and for the 1st time I got them posted in JANUARY)...
12.) Etta James 13.) Penny Marshall 14.) Senator Robert Byrd 15.) Zsa Zsa <---- joining the bandwagon pick 16.) James Garner

I like how you have both Jerry Lewis and Jerry LEE Lewis. That's almost as cool as having Joe Montana and Joe Montenga.
Unfortunately, those Joes are both healthy, so it would waste picks.

That's a record for a single year's picks, and that doesn't include his prior year picks that keeled over. Screw Pete, Giambi had six kills in 2010! Also... Chris needs to add a name to his list. In 2008 He selected six candidates instead of 5, but choice #2 was Abe Vigoda whom he already picked in 2007. That nullifies the second Abe, and shifts his two-named first pick into their own spots. Shorthand: Add Britney Spears as your choice #2 in 2008, move Vigoda to '07.

Kenny, Pete and Giambi are one in the same. I changed my name many years ago to Giambi..... too lazy to change it.
I also had LaLanne.
