Sheiff
Wasn't Tommy Missy's first boyfriend in wrestling, the story I heard was that he got her when she was only 16

Ah, that story did not make it over to this board, I trumpeted it on the last bleacher board. They were not a "couple" per se - she was a ring rat who hopped into his car after a show at a local haunt, and she hobbed his knob at a nearby traffic light, while traffic sat and waited for them to go about their business. And yeah, if I remember the tale correctly, she was quite the wee one. 16 sounds about right.
I actually own Missy Hyatt's tawdry tome and she freely admits to the encounter, so she certainly is not hiding the account.

Fuckin' fantastic, with Ric Flair at his verbose best. Tommy Rich and Ric Flair, 1981, Georgia Championship Wrestling. With a cameos from the likes of "Iron Mike" Sharpe and Rich's longstanding foe Masked Superstar. www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYSS560Z7UA

Awesome. Watching the AWA broadcast I DVRd in the wee hours this morning, and here's my man Tommy "Wildfire" Rich. In a raucous battle with Boogie Woogie Man Jimmy Valient, of all people. Lee Marshall was ripping Rich for being introduced at 242 pounds when "he is at least 260."
Rich was the heel here, and Marshall for some reason could not say Tommy Rich without throwing "Wildfire" in the middle. It was like, "kneedrop from Tommy "Wildfire" Rich....the Boogie Woogie man rolls out of the ring before Tommy "Wildfire" Rich can lay the boots to him....the ref is imploring Tommy "Wildfire" Rich to leave Valient alone on the floor....this is what makes the fans disillusioned with Tommy "Wildfire" Rich...
Rich ended up konking out the ref with a punch, and then started pasting him with kicks. Valient cleared the ring, then a new ref ran in and Valient punched him out. Tommy "Wildfire" Rich and Valient continued pounding on one another before the locker room emptied, and among the guys breaking up this battle back there in 1988 were Cactus Jack and Scott Steiner.

Been a lot of Rich on the AWA shows the last couple of weeks, mainly centering around his battles with Paul E and his man, Adrian Adonis. After Rich scored a squash win, Adonis hit the ring and beat down Wildfire. With Paul Es help, they draped a dress over his head, and to add insult to injury they wiped him up with some lipstick and makeup.
Obviously Rich was a house afire at this, swearing revenge. Rich's promos were fun to see.

So I scored the mother lode from a trader friend this past week. A set I had seen before on a site that died before I got to order it, and I finally stumbled upon it again and nailed it.
The wild Memphis feud between Rich and his cronies Austin Idol and Paul E, vs Jerry the King Lawler.
Here's whats on this 5-disc set which I purchased for a whole 12 bucks.
Voted 1987 Feud of the Year by the readers of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this incarnation of Jerry Lawler's feud with Austin Idol & Tommy Rich is one of my favorites. Tons of great promos, classic angles, and heated brawls with everyone on the top of their game. I included is just about everything that made tape from this feud, plus more from before and after to fill out the last disc.

Taken to IM. As to Rich, just watched the famous cage match where Lawler lost his hair in the cage to Idol. Idol had promised to "refund everyones ticket money" if he lost the match. Paul E was barred from being inside the cage, and he and Idol feigned dismay. Cause the plan was in effect!
15 minutes into the grueling battle, down goes the ref, and TOMMY RICH clambers out from under the cage. Fans go bezerk. Of course Rich helps batter Lawler to secure the Idol victory, sparking a mini-riot in the Memphis Mid-South Coliseum. The backstory to this is amusing, as Rich camped under the ring ALL DAY INTO THE NIGHT so the fans never caught wise to the plot.
I read he went down there with a bunch of beer, and was drinking down there, pissing in one corner. The heat was off the charts for this, and it was fun to watch.

For any of you guys who have 24/7, they are running Jerry Lawler on the "legends" category, and I noticed a tag team match where Lawler teams with Tommy "Wildfire" Rich, against the nefarious masked Nightmares, circa 1984 on there. I'll be watching later, I recommend you do the same.
Rich and Lawler always had quite the enigmatic relationship, feuding in spurts, teaming up in others. One of those odd wrestling dynamics.

Awesome arm-wrestling challenge, between Tommy Rich and Kevin "Mr Magnificent" Kelly, accompanied by Sherri Martel. All Hell breaks loose, as it usually does, in this sort of thing. Nick Bockwinkel on color, and watch announcer Larry Nelson at the end dancing up a storm as Rich riles up the crowd! www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7Ax3BwXR64
