Not to put up a stink here, but seeing how you're anticipating this one, why wouldn't the Perfect DVD set get it's own thread? Not that I care anyway, I just think it warrants it's own thread than being tossed in the OBSCURE wrestling DVD thread. I mean honestly, it goes ROH then the Perfect DVD. That's spitting in his face in my mind.
And you don't have ask me twice, I LOVE 45 minute/hour long matches. I pretty much got my love from wrestling from seeing a draw for the first 60 minutes of the iron man match, and since then don't care who it is, or what promotion, I love the psychology of it.
Small tidbit, Perfect gave Michaels the Heartbreak Kid name, as well as the Showstoppa nickname. Perfect was a big HBK fan. I look forward to Bret Hart MSG match as well as the IC Title match between Shawn and Perfect. I sort of remember it, it's a bit a blur but Summerslam 93 and 94 were one of the first ppvs I ever saw but I only remember bits and peices. I know I could check it out on youtube but I want it on the big screen TV.

Why SHOULD it get its own thread? And, actually, I like the idea better of grouping all DVDs, cause someone interested in purchasing some can use that whole thread as a reference point. I myself have gone back to look at what people had to say about one DVD or another. A thread on a single DVD will get lost on page 2 and then 3 quickly enough around here.
I love long matches too. One of my favorite matches is a Ric Flair / Wahoo McDaniel 2 of 3 falls battle that went just under 50 minutes. I agree with the psychology aspect too. James, I just saw that Hennig / Bock draw on ESPN - its a fantastic match.

This coming January WWE is releasing a 3 disc set called LEGENDS OF WRESTLING. Basically this is is a compendium of the best rountable Legends of Wrestling segments on WWE 24/7. These were good watches, but I never taped them cause i have too much on tape. I actually did hope they released these on DVD, and wondered why it took so long.
With panelists from Hayes, Flair, Foley, Tazz, Dusty, Bischoff, Lawler, Patterson, and moderators Jim Ross or Mean Gene, these were entertaining to say the least.

Just a note - thanks to pwtorch.com for this - I got a heap of TNA DVDs, and just got the Sting one new from a trader on Amazon for $3.99. But if anyone is into any TNA DVDs and by a Best Buy....
TNA announced a new partnership with Best Buy today to sell previous TNA DVD titles at a discount price during the Christmas shopping season.
Starting November 30 and continuing through Dec. 20, Best Buy will sell past TNA PPV DVDs and previous special feature DVDs, such as the Christian Cage, Sting, and 50 Greatest Moments, for $5.99.

So my go-to trader was running a $2 a disc sale, and I grabbed a couple of comps and a shoot interview. The comps were Million Dollar Man in WWF (11 discs, which extends from my Ted Dibiase in Mid-South 7 disc set) and Honky Tonk Man in WWF 8 disc set. The shoot is Ken Patera, and apparently he was drunk and off the rails for the thing.
HISTORY OF TED DIBIASE IN THE WWF vol. 1 (VG - GOOD Q) 2 HRS 55min
THE EARLY WWF YEARS
1. Ted DiBiase v. Pat Patterson (Pat Patterson is defending the Intercontinental Title - 1979) Interesting note here: Pat Patterson was the first Intercontinental Champion, while DiBiase entered the WWF as the North American Champion. On 9/79, Patterson defeated DiBiase for the NA title. The weird thing, is that While DiBiase is not, and HAS NEVER been acknowledged by the WWF as a former IC champion (or North American Champion for that matter), Vince McMahon himself doing commentary references DiBiase losing the title to Patterson in a previous match. ENTER THE MILLION DOLLAR MAN ! 2. "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase promo - he gets a paper cut and pays off the doctor's office to get immediate attention (Challenge 6/28/87 ) 3. Update: "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase promo - he buys a seat at a restaurant without waiting in line (challenge 7/5/87 ) 4. "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase promo - he buys a public pool (superstars 7/19/87 ) 5. "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase promo - he throws $100 bills at the crowd (challenge 7/11/87 ) 6. Update: "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase promo - gives a kid $100 to kiss his foot. That kid grew up to be ROB VAN DAM! (superstars) 7. "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase promo - he pays a girl $100 to wipe the sweat off his body (Challenge 7/26/87 ) 8. "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase promo - he pays a hotel to kick newlyweds out of their honeymoon suite (superstars 8/1/87 ) 9. Ted Dibiase promo #7 - Dibiase gives $300 to a lady to act like a dog. (superstars 8/16/87 ) 10. Int – Ted DiBiase (Prime Time 8/87) 11. Ted Dibiase pays a Jobber (Arthur Washington) $5,000 to fight his opponent (Chris Curtis) Dibiase's hired replacement loses the match and Dibiase & Virgil beat the hell out of him. HILARIOUS! (challenge 8/23/87 ) 12. Ted DiBiase v. Lanny Poffo (challenge 9/13/87 ) 13. Ted DiBiase v. The Junkyard Dog (Ted offers JYD $500 to take the night off, but JYD snatches the money and hands it out to the people in the audience! WWF TV 9/18/87 ) 14. Ted DiBiase v. Sivi Avi (DiBiase wins with the Sharpshooter – Superstars 10/31/87 ) 15. Ted DiBiase v. Ivan Putski (DiBiase gets a clean pin with one of the best powerslams in the business! msg 11/24/87 ) 16. Ted DiBiase kicks his "Million Dollar Man- Gimmick into high gear with his famous skit where he best a kid from the audience $100.00 that he can't bounce a basketball 15 times. Ted kicks the ball away at 14. PRICELESS! (WWF TV December 1987) 17. Ted DiBiase attempts to buy the WWF Title from Hulk Hogan. Hogan isn't impressed. (WWF TV 12/87) challenge jan-feb88 18. Special Interview – Ted DiBiase, who welcomes Bobby Heenan to the interview set and lets the world know that he has purchased Andre The Giant’s contract! (challenge 1/9/88 ) 19. Special Interview – Ted DiBiase and Andre the Giant. Andre will soon be wrestling Hulk Hogan on the 2/5/88 Main Event Special for the WWF Title. (challenge 1/16/88 ) 20. Special Report – The upcoming title match between Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan. Ted DiBiase has a few words for Hogan, and Andre promises to give DiBiase the Title after the match. (challenge 1/30/88 ) 21. Ted DiBiase & Virgil v. Hulk Hogan & Bamm Bamm Bigelow (MSG 1/25/88 ) 22. Ted DiBiase v. Hulk Hogan(Hogan was still WWF Champ at this time, so this match probably took place in late 1987 or January of 1988 ) 23. Hulk Hogan v. Andre the Giant (With the help of a corrupt referee, ANDRE WINS THE WWF TITLE! Andre then hands over The title to Ted DiBiase! SNME 2/5/88 ) 24. Post match interview with Hulk Hogan 25. Int – Ted DiBiase with the WWF Title Belt around his waist (challenge 2/13/88 ) 26. Ted DiBiase & Andre the Giant v. Hulk Hogan & Bam Bam Bigelow ( RARE MATCH, as Ted DiBiase is introduced as the New WWF Champion! I think this is the only match with DiBiase as champion before he was stripped of the title. Boston 2/22/88 ) 27. WWF President Jack Tunney strips DiBiase of the WWF Title, and announces a single elimination tournament for Wrestlemania 4. (challenge 2/13/88 ) 28. Int DiBiase and Andre the Giant. Needless to say, DiBiase isn’t happy about being stripped of the WWF Championship (challenge 2/13/88 ) 29. Ted DiBiase v. Bam Bam Bigelow (MSG 2/22/88 ) 30. Int – DiBiase & Andre the Giant (challenge 2/27/88 ) same #117 31. Ted DiBiase v. Randy "Macho Man- Savage (GREAT MATCH! Saturday Night's Main Event [SNME] 3/12/88 ) HISTORY OF TED DIBIASE IN THE WWF vol. 2 (VG - GOOD Q) 2 HRS
1. Several Ted DiBiase promos and interviews regarding the upcoming Wrestlemania 4 tournament. Including a pretty funny one with Baseball personality Bob Euker. 2. Ted DiBiase v. Outback Jack (And then, there's the OPPOSITE of a great match! Even Ted couldn't carry this guy! WWF TV 3/88 ) 3. Ted DiBiase v. "Hacksaw- Jim Duggan (First round of the WWF Championship tournament - Wrestlemania 4) 4. Ted DiBiase v. "The Rock- Don Muraco (Muraco was so much better as a heel. Second round of the tournament - WM4) 5. Ted DiBiase v. Savage (Another very good match. Savage wins the WWF Title - WM 4) (Interesting story here, as Savage was supposed to win the Intercontinental Title from the Honkytonk Man at the 2/5/88 Main Event TV special. HTM however, complained about doing the job to Savage and threatened to jump ship to the NWA with the IC title still in his possession. McMahon relented and changed the script to allow HTM to keep the title, but then Savage heard about this, he promised to SHOOT on HTM during the show which was to be broadcast LIVE! In order to avert a surefire disaster, McMahon promised Savage the World Title at Wrestlemania 4, which was supposed to be won by DiBiase. Good thing DiBiase didn't get upset huh?) THE MILLION DOLLAR MAN FEUDS WITH THE MACHO MAN ! 6. Ted DiBiase v. Ted DiBiase (GREAT MATCH! DiBiase and Savage were BY FAR the 2 best workers in the WWF at the time. Just about everything they did in the ring together was GOLD .MSG 4/25/88 ) 7. Ted DiBiase v. Frank DeFalco (Ted DiBiase’s finisher is officially named the Million Dollar Dream. WWF TV 4/88) 8. In the opening minutes of the match, Savage DRILLS DiBiase with a vicious forearm, breaking his nose in the process. msg 5/27/88 ) 11. Ted DiBiase v. Virgil (DiBiase of course, gets involved. WWF TV) 12. Ted DiBiase v. Randy Savage (Cage Match - Watch as some idiot mark fan actually climbs the cage and attacks Virgil! Msg 6/25/88 ) 13. Ted DiBiase v. Randy Savage (ONCE AGAIN, A FANTASTIC MATCH! Savage even manages to score a clean pin on DiBiase this time - WrestleFest 1988, Milwaukee ) HISTORY OF TED DIBIASE IN THE WWF vol. 3 (VG - GOOD Q) 2 HRS
1. DiBiase is the guest on the first ever Brother Love show. (WWF TV 6/26/88 ) 2. Randy Savage is attacked by Andre the Giant and Ted DiBiase. Jim Brunzell (WWF TV /88 – Pretty Good match) 4. Brother Love Show – Jesse Ventura is interviewed and speculates on whether or not he’ll be an impartial referee. Ted DiBiase and Andre the Giant come out and place several hundred dollar bills in Jesse’s pocket, furthering the speculation as to whether or not the already heel oriented Ventura will help stack the deck in favor of the Megabucks and the Megapowers. 5. Ted DiBiase v. Koko B. Ware (WWF TV) HISTORY OF TED DIBIASE IN THE WWF vol. 4 (VG QUALITY) 1HR 35MIN
1. Ted DiBiase v. Hercules (SNME - 2/3/89 ) 2. Ted DiBiase v. Hogan (lumberjack match - The commentators discuss this match as if Hogan is still champion, but the actual match had to have occurred after Hogan had lost the title. First of all, Hogan didn't come out with the WWF Title. Second, among the various Lumberjacks, were the masked Killer Bees (working as HEELS no less.) The Bees only wore their masks near the finish of the match, and these guys wore their masks for the entire time that they were out there. This was probably because B.Brian Blair had already left the WWF, and they didn't want to acknowledge that there were different men under the masks.) 3. Ted goes to a World Famous jeweler to commission the creation of his Million $$$ belt 4. Ted DiBiase debuts his new Million $$$ Belt on the Brother Love show. 5. Ted DiBiase v. Blue Blazer (Good Match! The Blue Blazer of course, is Owen Hart under a mask. Ted insists now, on being called "THE MILLION DOLLAR CHAMPION!” SNME - 3/11/89 ) 6. Ted DiBiase v. The DiBiase/Roberts feud takes a new turn, as Jake runs in during a DiBiase squash AND STEALS THE MILLION $$$ BELT! (WWF TV) 1/28/90 6. Footage of the Big Bossman attacking Jake Roberts on the orders of Ted DiBiase. Bossman handcuffs Jake and walks away with Jake’s bag containing not only Damien, but Ted’s Million $$$ Belt! Ted immediately appears on the Brother Love set and thanks Slick for sending the Bossman to do his bidding. Bossman gets upset that Slick had been bribed into taking Ted’s belt back and instead of giving the belt back to DiBiase, he storms off the set, returns to the ring, un- handcuffs Jake, AND RETURNS JAKE’S BAG WITH THE MILLION$$$ BELT! This sparks Big Bossman’s babyface turn. WWF TV 2/11/90 7. Ted DiBiase v. Jake Roberts (Ted manages to get his belt back. I'll always remember how all the managers fought to sign him, to manage him. Bobby Heenan, Mr. Fuji, who else? Was Slick around yet? Every week Savage would eliminate one manager

That stuff just played out in the last couple of months during the Prime Time Wrestling replays. And then I saw it come around again, with Bam Bam Bigelow the guy the managers were fawning over.
I remember being miffed Liz got the role. I was a fan of the goofy manager, over the attractive woman at ringside, which really was not done.

I also remember him being on some mainstream entertainment show, totally in character. Liz ordered a drink, and Savage squashed it, saying when he is in training, so is she...no booze. It's amazing that he and Leaping Lanny Poffo are brothers, and that he was a minor league catcher. Quite a story to tell there, too bad there's no documentary on the DVD

WWE News: WWE releases official details on "Rise and Fall of WCW" DVD; project receiving significant internal focusBy James Caldwell, Torch assistant editor www.pwtorch.comWWE's upcoming DVD chronicling the history of the WCW promotion, "The Rise and Fall of WCW," is scheduled for release on August 25, which is two days after the Summerslam PPV in Los Angeles.
WWE Smackdown announcer Jim Ross says the DVD project has been the subject of significant discussion internally in WWE. He anticipates a good DVD product based on the amount of effort WWE is expected to put into completing the product.
"I do know that this DVD is getting tons of internal attention and I fully anticipate that it will be a compelling DVD and one that I can't wait to watch," Ross said on jrsbarbq.com yesterday.
Ross said the DVD will "no doubt create controversy which in turn creates cash" - an obvious play on the title of Eric Bischoff's autobiography. Bischoff said earlier this week he had no interest in participating in the DVD project. Ross says he understands.
"For the record, I don't 'blame' anyone from the old, WCW regime for not wanting to be involved in this process and for a variety of reasons," Ross said. "Some have refused to be interviewed for this project which is understandable for many who have already discussed the topic endlessly."
Ross was interviewed extensively about his career in WCW as a lead broadcaster in the early 1990s. He says the DVD will focus on the people who were involved in the company and not just observing the company's highs and lows from a distance.
"This DVD, as I understand it, will focus more on the WCW side of this equation from those who were there," Ross said. "I wasn't there when it 'fell' and arguably wasn't there when it 'rose,' but I came in to WCW with the original class and discussed my tenure in Atlanta which was more positive than negative."

Pulling this from a trading website I found, a nice heads-up from one of the members...
Just thought I'd pass along that Best Buy has a sale on some of the newer WWE dvd sets this week. I stopped by the other day and the following were all $12.99:
Hell in a Cell History of the IC Title Edge: Decade of Decadence Essential Starrcade Raw 15th Anniversary Best of SNME Twisted, Disturbed Life of Kane Twist of Fate: Hardy Boys The Rock: Most Electrifying Legacy of Stone Cold Viva La Raza: Eddie Guerrero
Not sure when this ends...I just went online and grabbed the Starcade set, the Kane set, and the Hell in a Cell set, all for $50 shipped. I already own the Raw, SNME, Rock, Edge, Hardys, and Eddie sets.

So the Savage DVD is just a collection of his most famous matches? Nothing more?

Correct.
While its not a tribute with people ruminating on how great he is, its also not a burial like the Ultimate Warrior set was.
Again, Savage is still pretty much persona-non-grata with Vince, for whatever the reasons. You wont see him on WWE tv as a promotional tie-in.

I'm surprised he has NO RIGHTS at all to make money off this. But it sounds like a weak DVD. Well, maybe not weak, but not what it could be.
