"The First Wave with Richard Blade" on XM.
Early new wave.
Richard Blade was one of the pioneering DJs on what was possibly America's pioneering "Alternative" radio station - LA's KROQ. KROQ was one of the first radio stations world wide to play bands like The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, etc...
Right now, 80s New Wave Queen Josie Cotton ("Johnny Are You Queer") is guest-DJing with Blade, playing her favorite early 80s new wave/alternative tunes.

Ted Nugent is outstanding driving music. As for me, currently enjoying my Springsteen hangover with some of his slower stuff:

The Doors "Roadhouse Blues" is a badass song...The Rangers broadcast just used it as bumper music.

Great choice Nettles!
The Creeps is one of the greatest punk rock songs ever.

Lots of great stuff on that disc
I love that sound when smash the glass, if I get caught they're gonna kick my ass. Mommy is worried about the way I drink, Daddy can't deal with the way I think....
Then they followed that up with what I thought was, at the time, the best, most mature punk rock record ever...Prison Bound.
Too bad after that they turned into a rockabilly band.

. Too bad after that they turned into a rockabilly band. You're gonna criticize that they became a rockabilly band when White Light, White Heat, White Trash was the greatest record they ever made. Granted, the sound has changed but that album is amazing. Easily their best work. I love Social Distortion. Among my top 10 favorite bands. Mainliner is also awesome but it's not a studio album.

What's Mainliner? That's a song, not an album?
Are you talking about that compilation of old outtakes and "b-sides?" That stuff was all off of Social D's old Posh Boy recordings (Hell Comes To Your House, The Story of Posh Boy, etc..)
White Light White Heat White Trash was a decent record...no, strike that...a very good record. So was Sex, Love, And Rock N Roll. I could do without the self-titled and Somewhere Between Heaven And Hell.
I'm not talking crap on Social Distortion...I like that band, I like the members of the band, I'm in recovery with a couple of them, I was in Ness' car club once - good guys, great band, legends in OC.
But, what I am saying is that the once raw dangerous So Cal punk scene that Social D once ruled eventually turned into a rockasilly poseur-fest when Mike started wearing a pompadour, bucket-cuff jeans...and all of a sudden every pimply face 16 year old in OC was a Mike Ness wannabe. The whole move toward the rockabilly scene by the band really changed things....and the "scene" that followed this band changed and it will never be back to what it once was back in the 80s and particularly in the Prison Bound days.
And for the record, Prison Bound is the band's GREATEST work....BY FAR. Prison Bound is AS GOOD and AS IMPORTANT to punk rock as X's "Los Angeles" The Germs "GI", or the first TSOL E.P. Prison Bound was a seminal record in that it was the first time that proved punk rockers could be real musicians and play music that wasn't just 1..2..Fuck..You.

Listening to TANKARD today...just ordered the best-of, which contains a lot of pricey import grab tunes for a nice price.
