I don't know how Sanjaya made the top 4 last week, but it won't happen again. He was just awful and will go home tomorrow.
I also think that AJ Tabaldo will be gone as well. He has a good voice, but I think the song choice will hurt him.

If the hindu Indians are voting in force, regardless of performance, it would help Sanjaya.
Part of me hopes he wins because he is less marketable than Tom Brown.

3 things:
1) Jared needs to stop w/ the crotch thrusts.
2) Everyone is less marketable than Tom Brown.
AND
3) I LOVE BLAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's all for now.
Oh, make that four things. I really like Gina. Maybe not the "best" voice but she is kinda chick rocker and I like it.

Those pictures were fake.
As for last night, again, the women were better than the men. This is the second worst season of Idol. The only worse season was 3, where they pretty much all sucked. Yeah, Jennifer Hudson got the role of a lifetime and ran with it, but for 3 years she did nothing and on the show, she just wasn't that good.
Season 3 produced garbage. Season 6 at least will produce 2 talented singers. I don't know how marketable they'll be post-Idol, but at least they can sing really well.
I can't decide who I would rather see win at this point between Officer Hooks and Lardass Lakisha. But the two of them are probably pissed that the other one is in the competition. One of them may get eliminated toward the end in a "shocker." But I believe Simon will sign them both. They're too good.
Lakisha incidentally, did the same song Paris did last year. Lakisha blew Paris away.
I think that Melinda gets a slight edge in pure talent. She probably has a slight edge in likeability too. But I still have issues with the professional background singer gigs. Lakisha doesn't have that, which makes her story a little better.
On to the irrelevant rest:
Gina--very good singer. Started off good but not great. Finished great.
Stephanie Edwards--she's also very talented. Should make the finals. Consistent from last week.
Sabrina Sloan--I liked her better the week before. But still very good. She's just going to get crushed eventually by the Plumpettes.
Haley--I thought she was underrated. The judges want her gone for some reason. They underrated her performance. She was actually in the top half of the night, and the women last night were very good. I liked her a lot, but think she could be in trouble.
Leslie Hunt--decent, but not memorable. She could be in danger.
Alaina--she SHOULD be one of the people going. I didn't like her performance at all. Second worst on the night.
Antonella--I don't like her. She's hot, but she's not as hot as she thinks she is. I think her personality is making her less hot to me. Reminds me of bitchy people I've met in my life. It's a type. I have a similar issue with Gina, but Gina at least can sing. I think the producers want her gone. They wouldn't have put her following the two strongest singers in the competition if they didn't. Plus, what kind of idiot told her she could sing a Celine Dion song? I don't get why she even made the semis. She was good enough to go to Hollywood. She was not good enough to be in the top 24.
Jordin--I think she's really good, and even though she wasn't in my top 6 this week, she is probably in my top 6 overall. The judges like her, so that will keep her going a bit. She should have entered this thing 5 years from now. But in the end, she won't win.

Balls, dont waste time comparing seasons to seasons. Means nothing, and basically confuses the issue. Also, to talk about anyone "blowing Fantasia away" on a song is ridiculous, as Fantasia won the show for a reason.
Anyway, Gina is really good. She has a bit of everything, some attitude (but not an overly bitchy one), a decent spunky look, and a great voice. The big surprise to me, as she had flown under my radar before last night, was Sabrina Sloan. She is a certain darkhorse. Jordin Sparks is also one to watch, although I am not a fan.
The two that Balls continues to insult, beating that dead horse to the ground, have talent that speaks for itself. There are your frontrunners. Too many of the other girls are interchangable.
As for Antonella, sure, she should go. She's terrible. But she has some things going for her - her looks, which I dont find too astounding, but its out there that she is the hot coal in the competition to the horny male contingent, even before the "pictures." Also, votefortheworst.com is pushing for her to stay in the competition. That won't hurt her. And, finally, there is the contingent that feels sorry for her, feels she was wronged, all that garbage.
By the way, those faces she made last night are reason enough to go. That was just surly petulance, and usually that does not play well with the viewing public. I have never seen a look of disgust like she flashed while she was being brow-beaten by the judges.

Fantasia won the show for a reason--there were no talented singers on the show, and the producers and judges wanted her to win.
Bottom line is the real truth is that Fantasia fell of the map for a reason.
The two fat girls I continue to insult, as Tom wrongfully points out, are the two people I think are the most talented and my top two choices. But hey, why let facts get in the way?
The others ARE interchangeable. Good, but not great. Those two are great.
And they are far better than previous losers like Fantasia and Paris, who Tom liked but are not doing anything big. Oh wait, Fantasia is on Broadway. That's where you find most top sellers. Oh wait, no you don't.
You are right about everything with Antonella though. I noticed the facial expressions. I also think she came off like a bitch with the Jennifer Hudson crack. But I will say this--Simon did pass on Jennifer Hudson. He did insult her. And while America voted her off, Simon didn't sign her, and he could have.
That said, Antonella came off like a bitch. And I even agree she's not as hot as some say. She's hot, but she's not exactly Lisa Wilson, Julia DeMato, or Katharine McPhee.

I love this show, and I'm not afraid to admit it, but I'm really not super impressed with anyone this year. I don't have even have a favorite yet.
I think Simon is right - a lot of them are so arrogant and no talent to back it up. Antonella should go for that obnoxious comment about Jennifer Hudson. Don't shit where you eat honey! They put you on the show because you look good, not because you can sing and if you're lucky, maybe you'll get a job on a soap opera or something!
I'm amazed at the balls of these people. They come out and sing like doody and expect to get props just because they're there. It's ridiculous.
Any of the following should go tonight because they're all TERRIBLE.
Alaina Antonella Hayley Sanjaya

Yeah, what is going on this year with the attitude? Even the comic Chris Sligh chose to make cracks in week one, but someone filled him in the next couple of day to where he blurted out apolgies the night of the vote. He escaped, but I think the repercussions will be harsh for those that are rolling eyes, snarling, or making snide remarks.
And when it is not the contestants, its their parents. The parents are making all kinds of funny faces and groaning audibly at the judges. Bunch of idiots.
Tonight we will be watching Friday Night Lights on the DVR at 8, then we will start working on Idol without the commercials. I will also have my book on hand to get me through the filler.
Nice to see ya, Rose. Enjoy your stay.

Oh yeah, we're definitely DVRing tonight's show. Watching the results show with commercials is the worst. Makes me want to turn the damn thing off and find out who got kicked off on the news at 11. And all that silly singing and dancing in between...ugh. Who wants to hear the ones who suck sing?! I can barely watch the winners sing!

Rose said doody.
I can't argue with one thing she said in the Antonella bash either. I really think that comment is going to backfire. When Sligh made his comment he had just sung well. Plus, he's funnier. Antonella's comment came off more as a nasty shot.
I would do the same thing with Friday Night Lights but I get home earlier, and will likely have watched it by then.

Find something else to watch at 8, then, while you burn Idol. Your Piper DVD, for one. If you watch Idol live, you are simply wasting time.

The best is when they start eliminating one person. All you really need is the last 2 minutes, when they actually eliminate the person. That said, I'm a big fan of the super cheesy commercials they film.

Hey! Break it up!
As to the show....uh, wow. The inmates have taken over the asylum. Get used to Sanjaya, folks, he is not going anywhere, obviously.
Sundance needs to grow up and stop blubbering like a baby whenever anyone else is eliminated. There are 16 people to whittle down.

Money well spent I say! But didn't like the haircut. I'm more of a fan of long hair.
As for the eliminations, I think Alaina had to go. She was the worst singer not getting any major press. Plus, she reacted very bitchy. I think a lot of these girls this season are bitches with very few exceptions. Simon eluded to that when he praised Dolittle.
One thing that truly sickens me is the crying that goes on. It's not quite as bad as last year, when they kept going to Paris, who acted shocked and awed despite the show being on the air for 5 seasons. But it's still bad. I agree that Sundance blubbering was lame. Man up.
Obviously Antonella is the worst singer left from the women. I wouldn't be surprised to see her go next week. She and Sanjaya are in danger of becoming the worst finalists ever. I think Votefortheworst, combined with people feeling sorry over the fake pictures, helped Antonella.
Sanjaya has the support of the hindus, and will likely be picking up the Votefortheworst endorsement this week now that Sundance actually sang well.
Leslie wasn't making the finals anyway. I was happy to see Haley have an easy time of it. I think she is the most underrated singer in this thing. She was better than Jordin this week.
That said, even if she makes the finals, she isn't lasting long.
Nick didn't deserve to go at this point, but in the end, he wasn't winning this thing either. I'd like to see Jarred get the boot next week. He's just not that good.

I know these people want to win, but the good ones are going to have careers regardless such as Melinda (who is NOT fat) and Lakisha. Neither of those two women need to worry about what life is going to be like after American Idol.
I think Blake is in that same boat, he can become a big pop star. He's cute, he has charisma and can sing.

I don't really get the Blake appeal. I do to an extent, since his biggest fans seem to be chicks, but he doesn't have some sort of super voice. He's more of an overall entertainer than just a singer. You're right that the best ones will have decent careers. Blake comes off like a boy band singer.
The beat boxing and scat singing is his biggest strength. I actually wish I could hear a complete version of his group day. Great work there.
Melinda and Lakisha are the top 2 singers. And I actually think they are the least bitchy of the bunch. This group of women is the most bitchy I've ever seen on this show.

Sounds like the delusions of a jealous man.
I myself think he is one of the top 2 or 3 guys in the competition. And he CAN sing. I'm not in it for the "skatting" or the "B-bop" and certainly not the "boy band appeal." The fact you pop boners over Chris Sligh and then try to chop Blake down at the knees shows you have some sort of agenda here. That, or you are blinded to singing talent even worse than we imagined.

Loved seeing Ryan ask Pickler what she spent her money on and then looking astounded when her reply was "shoes" and followed up with, "Shoes? That's all?"
Anyway, just caught up on my idol this weekend. I'll make my review short.
I think America was 2 for 4.
Sanjaya sung much worse than the little Filipino kid they sent home...that was a bad bad call. Nick Pedro was deserving to leave. Leslie was deserving to leave. Now while the other girl who did the Dixie Chicks song was by no means stellar, there were at least two other girls who were much much much much worse than her - Antonella and the girl who did Queen Of The Night being two that stuck out.
Was very glad to see Sundance return to form and liked that Paula said it was the best vocal they'd heard "EVER!" A little overboard, but I was glad to hear that he won them over. Of the men, I think Sundance, Jared (even though he didn't wow the judges), Blake, and Chris (not Sligh) are the best.
I still like Jordin Sparks best of the women, even though she's clearly not the best singer there.

So once again, the guys stunk the place up last night. I really find it hard to believe that out of 100000 people, these were the best 12. The judges should be embarrassed. Only 2 performances were decent, Chris Sligh and Blake. Blake is an overall very good entertainer, but when it comes to pure singing, he's not super strong. Chris Sligh was the best vocal on the night, but that's more because all the others were so bad.
The worst three of the night were Sanjaya, Jarred and Phil. Phil was usually better, but what kind of lame performance was that?
Holy crap.
The rest were average and unmemorable at best. Sundance went from one of the top 4 overall, back to subpar.
I can't get over the stupidity of their song selections. Blake is the only one who pulled off doing a song that no one knows, and that's because of his beat boxing talent. These people should be picking songs that were big time hits--from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.
And with their library, they should be picking songs that were in the Billboard top 5 or better. The reason those songs were hits was because people like them. They need to stop singing to their grandmothers or songs that "they like." If the song isn't well known, the performance gets boring fast.
None of these guys are good enough to pull off an unknown song.
I'm really considering going a vote for the worst route this year because the talent is so bad. Melinda and Lakisha are the only saving grace right now for this season.

Yeah, last night was just pitiful. The guys should be ashamed of themselves, and I am sure the judges are kicking themselves over this bunch of idiots. That said, its not all on the judges, I am sure a lot of these guys had strong auditions and are simply stinking up the joint when it counts. It happens.
Blake won the night. I am amused, Balls, at your penchant to constantly try to put him down. Not sure the reasoning there, but it seems to go beyond his performance on the show, in all due respect. He was better than Chris, who you seem to have an odd fetish for.
I thought Jared Cotter was ok. Not among the worst. That was a long list, around the worst. Chris Richardson was obviously good to, and the judges fawned over him. Sundance stunk, I was surprised the judges were cool with him for the most part. As Simon mentioned, he sounded like he was screaming most of the song.
Blake had an excellent song choice, and the song was not as obscure as you imagine. 311 had quite the following in the day. That said, the fact that the judges admitted to not knowing the song and still loved what he did with it shows it CAN be done, and if a singer thinks they can nail a song they should not worry about "Billboard Top 5" charts, and do the same tired songs that have been done on the show before, by better singers than they are.
Overall I think the prediction that only 4 of the guys should move on was ambitious, and it could possibly be less. The guys this year are an awful crop, and its these kinds of perfomances that can actualy start to take a lot of the shine off of this consistently solid show.
