Hello All,
I have been in this league 4 or 5 years, can't remember off the top of my head but I have ALWAYS paid in FULL the day of the draft. I don't bitch and moan about daily roster moves, rule changes, trades, and other BS. I simply draft my team, enjoy the season, and have a good time.
This season for the first time I did not have the full amount on Draft Day. I was about 110$ short. I won a session early on which went towards what I owed and then I was still 55$ short. Got it so far?
Anyway due to my job and inability to get the money to Balls I fell into the dangerous area of having a utility player benched. Well guess what, it happened and I paid the price. The rules are the rules and I lost my utility guy for a week which was MY FAULT. I should have mailed Balls the money (which he offered) or got the job done some other way.
That brings me to this weekend. I asked Balls if it was ok if I send the money Western Union. Knowing I only had Saturday to get the money to him before I lost my 3B I got up at 8am Saturday morning and sent the 55$. I texted Balls "I just Western Unioned you the money please unlock me AFTER the softball game".....He easily could have unlocked me knowing the money was waiting for him, and if he left already for his day of fun, he could have made it a point to get to a computer or have someone get to a computer before midnight so I could make my fucking roster changes.
Well I talked to Tom and he rectified the situation and I thank him for that. But here is the email I got from Balls.
"Again, I am not on call 24/7, and was not doing fantasy stuff yesterday. Don't blame me because you took 2 extra weeks to pay and you decided to send Western Union on the day of the bleacher softball game, when everyone was out all day. You didn't even send an order number. I had to get it from Western Union using your phone number. It's not a pay at your convenience league. The fact is, when I locked you down originally, you got 5 extra days of points from your guys. So you got the benefit of a full roster, when you shouldn't have. It evens out, but if Tom wants to give you more points, it doesn't matter to me. Give me a number, and it will be added. But don't blame me because you didn't pay."
I DID NOT BLAME HIM THAT I DIDNT PAY, THAT IS MY FAULT AND I ACCEPT THE PENALTY AND RESPONSIBILITY, BUT WHEN I DO MAKE THE PAYMENT, AS THE LEAGUE COMMISSIONER IT IS YOUR JOB TO UNLOCK ME AND NOT BLAME IT ON SITTING AT A BAR ALL NIGHT DRINKING WATER WITH BOB FROM THE BODEGA IN ROW LL. I HAVE BEEN A GOOD MEMBER OF THE LEAGUE AND DESERVED BETTER. BALLS IF YOU DONT WANT TO DO IT ANYMORE QUIT!
Again thank you to Tom for clearing it up for me.

I do agree that Balls flubbed this one, and by not unlocking you yesterday it opened up a world of hurt, and screwed up your lineup and points to where I am not sure how exactly it will get fixed. But Balls needs to figure out a way.
I am very unhappy with how this was handled. I also did not know Balls was texted at 8AM and did not bother unlocking your team. This makes it worse. And, to be blunt, I dont need the commissioner here giving the longtime players in the league lectures. Balls, sorry, but no way you come out of this smelling like roses once that email of yours above is leaked. That just looks bad.
For now we will keep a tally of your points this week, and go from there. Capone, keep track in case Balls is once again too busy to run the league, and send me the totals applicably.

Fuck you. I did not "screw you over." You screwed yourself over. Pay your bills on time. Everyone else managed to pay their bills on time or were punished for it. You didn't miss ONE payment. You missed two.
The first one we let slide because the amount due was too small to bother with. But you have had since MARCH to finish paying this off. Don't blame me because you were the one who fucked up.
Don't give me this "due to my job" shit. For you to claim that you didn't have time to cut a check and put it in the mail over the entire first half of the season is ridiculous. For you to claim you didn't have time in the last TWO WEEKS to do that is ridiculous. And then for you to bitch when I didn't have time on a busy Saturday to unlock you the moment you paid at your convenience, is just nerve.
You asked me on THURSDAY if you could pay Western Union on FRIDAY. Then I get a text on Saturday, which I didn't see until after the softball game. What you are neglecting to mention is that the week before, you sent me a text saying that you put the money in the mail, and wanted to be unlocked. That was not a "can I put the money in the mail" text. It was, "I put the money in the mail" text. And then, when I said I couldn't unlock you until I received the money, you brought up Western Union. Why would you do that if you already put the money in the mail? Hmmm.
The text you sent had no tracking number. No proof. Just a text. And when I spoke with Tom on the subject earlier, it was agreed that there would be no unlocking until I had proof from WESTERN UNION.
And again, I was not online after the game.
I went out after the game with the group, got home, showered, and went out again.
I am too busy to keep your tally. There are a lot of other things I will do that are more important, like staring at the ceiling, or making silly fart noises with my armpit.
The fact is, when I locked your utility player down, he remained in your lineup for six days when he shouldn't have. So you are losing someone now for four days.
This is your mess, your fault, and you are going to keep the tally. I don't care what the number is. Make one up for all I care.
And you know what? I think this is my last year doing this shit. It isn't worth it for a few bucks that I earn by spending a day at the draft, and having to deal with this kind of shit, especially when I get thrown under the bus because someone else doesn't pay, and because of the absolute asinine rule that a player can't fix his own roster on a daily basis. If a player could fix his roster, this wouldn't be an issue at all.
You wanted penalties? You got them. Now you bitch about them.
To hell with it. Someone else can take over next year.

Balls, dont make this look like something you are coming up with. I already encouraged you to step down next year, as I have a replacement lined up already. So dont make it look like you are making a valient stand here.
Thank you for your service to the league.

Oh, and one more thing. Of course I signed off on the punishments, and yes, I pushed for them. Problem is, Anthony is being punished after he made the payment. Thats on you. So we'll rectify it.

And again, there was no confirmation number, and no time to actually get to Western Union. And you are the one who agreed that we needed something from Western Union too. When I got up on Sunday morning and went to Western Union's website, there was no evidence of any transaction. It wasn't until I got there, and called them on a hotline, that I was able to get proof.
I am not on call 24/7, and was not going to deal with this crap at 1am after a very long day and night. The only person to blame is Anthony. And you, for this stupid rule that won't let anyone edit their own lineup on a daily basis. That's something even I can't override.
I don't care what number you come up with.

Use your head here. I was not interested in him paying on a Tuesday, you picking up on a Wednesday, and unlocking him before you did so he could make moves. But at this point, you take his word for it, cause the other option is his lineup being shorted THREE players he should not be shorted. His two penalty players, and a DLd guy in his lineup he could not switch. Do you have a brain? Are you honestly thinking when he told you he went to Western Union that he LIED?? Yeah, tell him that...
You fucked up, bottom line. This is the icing on the cake, you are a terrible commissioner when it comes to dealing with the people in the league.

Again, I didn't have time on Saturday to deal with any of this crap.
I did not fuck up one bit. The only fuck up here is Capone by not paying his bill for two months. It's not like I didn't try to collect. He chose to be lazy and ignore emails and IMs, and didn't care that he was locked. I was not available when he snapped his fingers and says he paid. Tough shit. If he wanted to guarantee he would be unlocked by Sunday, he should have paid earlier in the week. I was at fan fest and the softball game. He's lucky I even got to it on Sunday before I spent the day at the Stadium. I got up early for that.
You are the last one to talk when it comes to dealing with people.

Balls what the F are you talking about. You simply walk to the Western Union counter, fill out the "Recieve Money" sheet that is available at EVERY window, fill out MY information and they hand you the $55!!!!! There is no confirmation code.
I was late making the payment, I was wrong for making you wait for the 55$, I was wrong for not sending it earlier, I was wrong for not throwing it in the mail earlier, and I ACCEPT my punishment and will always abide by the league rules, I never once bitched that I lose my Utility player for a week or couldn't get my DL guy on the bench. I have NEVER complained like Milton or any of these other guys about rules or issues. I simply play the fucking game.
Balls I texted you and told you I officially sent you the money. I realize you had a softball game and your life does not revolve around a fantasy baseball league. But when you take on the Commissioner Role (as unrewarding as it may be) it is your responsibility to FIND A WAY to unlock me when it could potentially cost me upwards of 50+ points. You do a good job and this is over, but I had to air the grievance.

Wrong. When I got to the Western Union, they specifically asked for a confirmation number. To get that number, I had to call Western Union, with all that information. It's called the Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN).
And sorry, but it is not my responsibility to act that fast when you pick the worst day of the week for something like this. Nothing in this league is a lock or automatic. It shouldn't be so shocking that I was unable to get to this on a Saturday--especially on the day of the bleacher softball game. That's a risk you take by trying to pay on a Saturday when I am not around. Had I been able to do so, I would have unlocked you that day. But don't blame me because that was not possible.
You don't have a grievance. But I agree--it's over.

Me and Milton sent money back and forth to each other for years and never needed a "code"
I did have a grievance, and you made a mistake

And again, I needed a code.
Not only that, I needed your phone number to GET that code. Fortunately, I had it on my phone. The only mistake made here was you being late. Had I had it to do over again, I would do it the exact same way. Next time, don't be 2 weeks late.

Idiot--if you could read, you would see that I already said I'm done after this year. Don't threaten me with not paying. I could care less. Don't pay a penny ever again. The bottom line is that the only person at fault for this mess is you. So you can tally the points, and you can stop whining about a mistake that you made.

msb. i need half an hour to read this thread, and i havent, but i read enough to know you are dead fuckin wrong. if the guy finally western unions the money, take him at his word and open up his roster on a saturday that you know you wont be around. the guy pays you in full every year and youve never had issue with him. the money was wired. you shouldve done the right thing.

Larry--I WAS NOT ONLINE ON SATURDAY.
I got the message that he did it after the softball game. But I didn't even get home until 1am, and sorry, but the last thing I wanted to do then was deal with fantasy shit. I'm not at anyone's beck and call. I got up early the next morning and took care of it. It's not my fault he chose to do this on a busy Saturday.
Don't worry about it. It's done. I'll be given a number by someone and add it to his total. And next year, someone else can deal with this shit.

Not really. If I had any stories like that from last weekend, they wouldn't be reported here Went to a birthday party for a girl on one of my softball teams. You actually know her from our fall team as well. I was home briefly, but didn't get on the computer because I was in a hurry. I just showered, changed, went right back out, and didn't get back home until 1am.

Still, no excuse. By then you would have seen Capone's text, and known payment was made. It would have taken you an extra 5 minutes to unlock his team.
Inexcusable.

Didn't have the time. The only thing inexcusable was doing this on a Saturday, two weeks late, and expecting instant results. He picked a bad day.

Fuck that. My arrogance, because I didn't have time for one day, a Saturday? Tough shit.
I don't give a shit if the winners give back or not. They don't have to, and I never asked for that. It's a very nice gesture and very much appreciated, but that never happened until Larry did it two years ago. A couple of others have since followed suit, and that's great. But it's hardly required, and I do not think less of anyone who doesn't. As far as I'm concerned it's their money, and if they want to tear it up, that's fine.
