29 years ago today, in Canton, Ohio Thurman Munson passed away at 4:02pm. RIP Captain, you will always be my favorite.

Amen. RIP #15. The saddest day in Yankee history.

I second that. If only A-Rod played like The Captain...
Seriously, talk about a stand up guy. My next game jersey will have #15.

I love Thurman Munson. I was never one for the name and number on the back of the shirt shirts - not cause I am offended by "names" on the back of a souvenier shirt, but I just never ran with any.
I finally grabbed a Munson 15 a few weeks ago. Almost wore it yesterday, then showed up in the supermarket to see another guy walking around in the same Munson shirt. That would have been cool if we were both representing in the produce aisle.
Munson still stirs a ton of emotion from the fans. Love him.

That's amazing--YOU were in the produce aisle?
Thurman's death really was a horrible day in Yankee history. I wish I could have been old enough to watch him every day and remember him for what he was in his prime. But I was just a pup.

I actually need to venture to the produce aisle to cut across to the deli counter. Also, they hide my fruit cups in the produce section.

I eat a fruit cup just about every day, Monday thru Friday. Its my dessert, with my lunch at work. My favorite is the peaches. But I mix them up.

I love fruit cups also..... My son eats them, and when I steal one of his, I get yelled at.

My daughter tries to steal mine, but i have none of it. She simply wastes them, so no go for her.
My main crux with the fruit cups is the vacuum pack tops, which sees an explosion of gushing fruit juice if my pull is off.

On your lead, I just went and had one. You are right, I don't like the explosion of juice, and I pull very slowly.

I agree with whoever said that was the saddest day in Yankees History...although we were not there for Gehrig's speech or Babe Ruth's funeral in Yankee Stadium...but that was a brutal day for me....I CLEARLY remember the day he died. It is a vivid memory.
Of course, the day Mickey Mantle died was rough for me as well.
Speaking of name/number Tees...I just ordered my "54 Gossage / Hall Of Fame" tee.

Keep in mind the day Gehrig made his speech, hardly anyone knew he was not long for the world. The emotion was not there as we imagine it today, cause people simply thought he was hanging them up, and not hovering on the cusp of death.
