The WWE thread is getting cluttered, and this show has enough going on that it should have its own dedicated thread.
Anyway, Striker did a great job on color tonight. I was happy to see, while browsing about, that that feeling is pretty much universal. When he called Colin Delaney's betrayal of Tommy Dreamer "Zbysko-Sammartino-esque" I needed to stifle a guffaw.
Evan Bourne has a sick moveset. Very fun to watch. And, reminescent of my early hop on the MVP bandwagon, I am happy to see my lonely support of Mike Knox is paying off a bit. He cut a good promo on Finlay, he has a good rawboned look, and his pending battle with Finlay should be a barnburn. Oh, and by no means am I comparing him to an MVP type talent, he has nothing like that in him, but he can be a useful hand.
I was very happy to see Chris "Braden Walker" Harris show up on ECW the fist time, although that quickly became disastrous. He had another sluggish showing tonight, hopefully he steps it up.
Morrison had some great lines during the Dirt Sheet. And Mark Henry is badass.

Didn't get to see it and I forgot to DCR it, but reading up on it, sounded solid. I don't hate either Henry or Hardy, but I've never been huge supporters, thought I have liked their work recently. I'm not excited about their match, cause odds are it's a train wreck, but I'm still interested to see if, like you said, Hardy can get that good match out of Henry, and he can step it up for Matt.
That said, I'm with you on the other things. Harris is sluggish and not really adjusting, I think, well to WWE system. It's suprising, but that's why he's on ECw and hopefully he can step it up. No suprise with the Dirt Sheet live, hope they do it more. Morrison and Miz, while great, are wasted on ECW. It's already known for those who watch SD, Morrison can hang with Batista, as well as the World Heavyweight Champ, CM Punk. Not saying he needs to be elevated to mainevent status overnight, but he can certainly do it. Miz too can hold his own. If anything, I would promote Morrison, keep Miz on ECW for the time being, and down the road switch him. But from a booking standpoint, start the slow push to the moon for Morrison ASAP.
And I forgot if I mentioned this in another thread, but they didn't want Bourne using the Shooting Star Press, feeling it was too risky. But they weren't happy with what he was using in Florida, so when they asked him to change it, and he suggested the SSP, they were still hesitant. So they made him do it on the pad, a la Tough Enough, and he nailed it perfectly everytime. I'm a huge Bourne fan, and I think all of us agree, as does JR, ECW is great for pushing younger talent, let them get their feet wet.
I'm mad at myself for missing the DVR.

I am enjoying the new ECW and it serving as a "breeding ground" for the new guys....it is fresh and gives everyone a chance..Also good for guys like Mark Henry who get lost on the big shows to step up and show off what they got in a featured role........

ECW gets its own thread but RAW and Smackdown have to shared. This is just so wrong.

I think this is why ECW ratings are increasing lately as well...

Jack Swagger is the man.
And I have always been on the Mike Knox bandwagon. He's rawboned, a remnant from back in the day.
And Ricky Ortiz, oddly, is growing on me. I have read that from many. He has a goofy charisma that sorta works.

Yeah, somehow I don't mind seeing him in the ring, even though he's is an incredible goof.

First couple of weeks, while I thought all along he had a quirky look, his work in the ring was so clumsy it was driving me crazy and he practically had turn the channel heat. But slowly he creeped into the conciousness. The Ricky-O Rally towel, his goofy mannerisms, it works.

The rally towel is fucking stupid.
I love the long beard on Knox. He looks like he's from the Yukon.
Swagger rules, great look.
Striker is awesome too.

Well, they went and did it. After decimating ECW in this last trade, they seem to have decided this is, indeed, the developmental program. Always had some of those elements, but now its head-on. I did not watch last nights- have it on the DVR. About 5 new people debuted. One, in what is being called the worst segment in wrestling history (a guy named Abraham Washington who is apparently sort of a Rock clone, interviewing the Bella Twins)
Look forward to see what is going on there.

Just watched it. That Abraham segment was the pits. He is not funny and count how many times he says "you know what I'm saying". Why not just have another match instead with guys on the roster. Vince can save a few bucks that way.. I like ECW being the "developmental" program as it makes it almost like a "different" program than RAW and Smackdown and I aam looking forward to seeing new guys and characters develop. Poor Shelton sent back to ECW. I don't understand it as he is a great wrestler, athlete and his skills on the mic have developed pretty well in my opinion but he just can't take that next step.

Well, before last night - where he was quashed - some thought ECW would be good for him, as he could be the centerpiece of the brand. Maybe a run as ECW champ, having the main event matches on the show week to week would boost him for more credibility when he went back to the other shows. But last night they took care of that in a hurry. Another loser is Christian.

Yeah. You know whats sad? He had high marks before he got up to the big leagues. He was known in developmental as a supreme wit, with great delivery and very entertaining. Much less scripted down there. Keep in mind he did not write any of these jokes that are failing miserably.

Have not seen it yet, ran the DVR. I heard from a few places Atlas was a hoot, and that he can actually save the segments.

Last Tuesday was the best Abraham Washington show yet......I actually enjoyed that especially the remark about this being ECW and not Raw and hence the coffeee mugs on the table have nothing in them (followed by the wink and OK sign).

I actually like Abe, but people are HATING him. Pretty much calling it all kinds of trainwreck television. Some go so far as to blame ECW's woes on Abe's appearance.
PS - Tommy Dreamer, who gave notice and is leaving the company (in fact - everyone thought his last night was last Tuesday) will be on hand tonight, and is begging everyone to tune in to see something big, and history-making!

RIP ECW.
They are finally putting it to bed. Vince came out last night, and in about one minute, said that in 3 weeks thats it for ECW, and a new revolutionary show begins.
Hearing mixed rumors on what it is. I am interested in the likely one, a show for the new people, a "next generation' sort of offering. How this will get better ratings than ECW, i have no idea....the reason ECW is going away is because the ratings have been in the dumper.
So we'll see where this goes.

Well at this point to does not really matter, as those 3 letters pretty much meant nothing for the past 3 years and Vince did what he wanted, no crowd will EVER chant ECW at a WWE event again,
from another board,
MORE ON WWE'S SYFY SERIES by Mike Johnson @ 8:24 PM on 2/2/2010
Sources in WWE just confirmed the ECW on SyFy series will indeed go forward under the name WWE NXT, with NXT standing for "Next Generation."
As we initially broke back in November 2009 in the PWInsider.com Elite section, one of the concepts pitched to SyFy was to build the series around an entirely new cast of characters with the tease being viewers could watch them debut and develop nowhere but on SyFy. One would think a lot of talents will be coming up from WWE developmental soon

And already the internet community is agog with possibilities like Bryan Danielson and Lo-Ki (Kaval) - Im into it, I want to see some new stuff, not the same old. Also, unless they keep some of the old guard on that show, it would be good to shuffle some of the talent around, like Christian to Smackdown or some such.

I would have liked them to keep the name, simply because it sounds like a fed rather than Vince being a faggot.
'And your NEW! NXT Champion.....'
Weak.

LOL @ Vince being a faggot, yeah the name is fucking terrible.
What i would have done, bring back the Hardcore and Cruiserweight Title to ECW, so you have those 3 belts being defended whenever on that show. The hardcore belt so you still have the gimmick weapon matches. The cruiserweight so you can see guys like The Karate Kid and the guy with one pant leg have some good matches for a 3rd tier title. At the least, it mixes up the pace on ECW. So Vince can still do his whole new thing but under a better name with some stuff people are a little familiar with. Hunter should have slapped Vince when he said NXT.

Nah, fuck both of those.
Just keep it the way it is, and put the young guys on it if that's what they want.
The way I see it though, by putting all the young guys on it, it may be hit or miss. Sure for us we'll watch regardless, but to the average Cena mark? Might not care.

Well, what I am hearing about the show is it will be a combo wrestling / reality show. Reality in that it will in-depth profile the up and comers, giving them a personality and building them from the ground up. Lots of the wrestling world is intrigued if this can be pulled off. The whole idea of the show (which will revolve around Lo-Ki (Kaval) and Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan) is for guys to compete for the right to graduate to the big shows.

The problem is that I would think that too many people who watched Raw and Smackdown simply didn't care enough about ECW to watch it. I'm not so sure that's so much because ECW was a lesser show, than it was that since it wasn't one of the big two, who gives a shit?
So a show where people compete for the right to compete on Raw or Smackdown, probably still wouldn't get much of an audience.
Maybe it's the timeslot, or maybe the WWE saturates the market with 4 hours or programming.
If they want to introduce new talent, do it on Raw or Smackdown.
Hell, I'd be curious if they did some sort of minor league WWE show. But I don't know if that would work either.
I would think this is good news for TNA, because odds are, the WWE isn't going to keep ALL the ECW talent, and that will likely mean new chances for TNA to get new people.
