Is currently at 25482. I dont think he can get a negative score, and he has zero votes. One vote can move him up 5000 places or so. I have no idea what importance this system may have. Maybe it helps him get a gig? www.thedjlist.com/djs/THE_DEVER/

I'm sure he can challenge someone on the list above him to a fight...that might move him up a few notches.

The Dever has absolutely refused to give this board the time of day I am not so sure people will be tripping over themselves in a hurry to help him out on this list.

Well, he needs to *make* a page for himself. I dont believe DEVER made a profile, but there must have been one person out there that knew him enough to put him on that list in the first place. It looks like it would be a positive thing to do if he is serious about DJing.

You're funny. I've just been informed by my spies that Evan has applied to be listed on this site. "Spies" = Evan. The funnier aspect will be if Evan gets one vote, he'll be ranked above THEDEVER. To give THEDEVER credit, he's been going at it for many years. People said he was/is good, but I only heard one night, one time at the halloween party. While its a poor sample to base a judgement, it was by far the absolute worst DJ I ever stayed in the room to listen to! Seriously. He didnt let any song finish, every segue was a trainwreck, no beat matching, no maintenence of key signature, yuck with a capital UCK. To say "horrific" is very nice of me. I swear if I cared even a smidgen, I'd invite him to one of the crazy burner parties I go to to grasp whats good. Maybe I'd be nice and post some links up for Evan, but I am rather lazy about board postings.

Evan and Dever aside...
When it comes to qualifying DJs, I just don't get it.
Let's set aside the fact that I find any kind of techno, house, trance music extremely repetitive, nerve-racking, and virtually unlistenable...and without any entertainment value at all.
I just don't get the concept of attempting to qualify and appreciate one's "skill" as it pertains to playing recordings of some actual musicians music. I do that every day in my car. Do I get any sort of artistic merit every time I pop in a Black Flag CD?
How do you RANK such a thing?

Y'know Chris, I really dont know. Its likely just a vote-in popularity contest type of thing, and maybe there are scales of 1 - 5 or some shit. Again, I havent signed up for it, so I dont know how that system works exactly.
What I can tell you, is that like you I once thought that a DJ was just a guy that lined up songs made by other musicians too. I've since learned otherwise. A really good DJ is in fact also a musician in the way that a symphony conductor is one too. Theres definitely a craftsmanship to it and when done right its so very much a brilliant form of expression on its own.
There's original music to be made with beat samples, guitar riffs, phat bass lines, all kinds of shit. I cant tell you how much of a particular DJ's work is original, but I can tell you that when they do it right, its rockability is self evident.

Hey, come to think of that, why dont YOU put a vote in for The Dever? Why would you recruit others to do it if you dont want to do it yourself?
As to me, I LOATHE these types of DJs. Just play the damn music. Its a joke amongst many that know me that I need music on when a party is going on. I dont even like being at barbecues without a radio playing. I even bring my little MP3 speakers to dinners at the family home.
But as to DJs dropping beats - eh, no thanks. I find them very uninteresting, and I rank them all # 25482.

If Evan is going to outrank Dever, all the voting has to be for Evan. Perhaps this will set up the inevitable battle.
