MINOR LEAGUE HOCKEY IS BACK IN DANBURY!!!
The new EPHL is opening their season in November... said to be A level, a feeder league for the ECHL and AHL with a mix of kids & aging veterans.

Currently 5 teams: Brooklyn Aces, Danbury Mad Hatters, Jersey Rockhoppers, Copper City Chiefs, and New Hampshire Freeze which will play in the league’s inaugural 2008-09 season. A sixth team may also play pending the completion of the acceptance process.
Informational presentations were made regarding league partners including Ballistik Hockey, ClicknPrint Tickets, LeagueStat.com, and Penn Atlantic among others. Discussions were also held on immigration, insurance, and sales matters.
Rules were discussed and adopted on various on-ice issues regarding player rosters and game procedures. Teams will open training camps on October 22 and the 50 game regular season begins on November 1. Schedules for both regular and exhibition seasons are expected to be announced in late July.
The top four teams at the close of the regular season will advance to the play-offs. The first place team will play the fourth place team and the second place team will play the third place team in best of three semi-final series. The winners will advance to a best-of-five championship series.
Games that end in a tie will be followed by a five minute 4-on-4 sudden death overtime. Games not decided in overtime will be decided by a three man shootout. Two standings points will be awarded for a win and one point awarded for an overtime loss or shootout loss.
Teams will carry 20 players on their roster and be allowed to dress 17 players for each game. Teams may have no more than four veterans (defined as a player that has appeared in more than 180 professional games). Visors will be mandatory.
NHL rules will be followed with a few exceptions. Notable exceptions include the reduction of the instigator penalty and that the goaltender “trapezoid” will not be used for puck-handling purposes. Tag-up off sides and automatic icing will be used.
As a new "A" level minor league, our goal for our inaugural season is to provide fans, sponsors, and facilities throughout the northeast with exciting, family-friendly professional ice hockey action. Our full-time professional players will suit up for member teams in markets in the northeastern United States . Each team will complete a 50 game schedule beginning Saturday, November 1
Our first formally announced member cities are Brooklyn NY , Danbury CT , Exeter NH , Rome NY, and West Orange, NJ. Watch for additional announcements in June once ownership groups have posted necessary bonds and completed lease agreements.
I am loving the new jerseys...
And I am totally loving the angry penguin of the Jersey Rockhoppers!!!
