They closed the old shop on the corner of 5th and 42nd and moved 1/2 block away onto 42nd between 5th and Madison. It's right down the block from where I'm sitting. I'm not sure if that's the HQ but it's definitely a flagship store with with the full range available.

I've had 3 cigars in 3 days. Tomorrow I will be going for a four-peat.

wow, nice run. I got around to smoking that AcidKuba Kuba cigar on Friday afternoon. I'm glad I got that out of the way. I'm not gonna say I didn't like it, but the first 10 minutes of the smoke were pretty disgusting. Just this overpowering sweet taste that was on the wrapper actually was awful. It smelled pretty good but that's it. I also noticed when you first lit it, there were some sparks that flew. Just weird. After the initial shock, the weird flavor relaxed some and there was a pretty good cigar left for the balance of the smoke. Still, it was a little overwhelming and somewhat of a chore to get through. At one point, the chemicals actually started to bother my acid reflux condition.
That said...I will be sticking with a more traditional smoke for now on. I had to try this and I'm glad I did. Not for me though.

Yeah, today I capped it with one last Sancho Panza, I ran those 3 of the 4 days. As much as I enjoy that stick, I think its time to move on to another brand for my next buy. That will be made soon, Im down to a handful in the humidor. My other smoke was an Olo? Oro? I am too lazy to check right now. But I think that was on the label. Who knows where I got it, it was a smooth smoke, and a smaller stick. I did not have the time to really sit and imbibe yesterday.
Im not going to become a smoke all the time kinda guy, but I was trying to cap the old vacation. So I went at it a bit more. My next one will be next weekend. Hey, Goon, you know what I like? Baccarats, with the dopey tasty wrap. Sweet. I would guess almost gayish, but its such a damn smooth smoke.

Either of you try any of those CAO Sopranos cigars?
CAO cigars are pretty fuckin good...but that high-priced Sopranos line just reeks of exploitation to me. What... I'm supposed to think it's cool that Tony Soprano, who actually smoked unbranded nondescript cigars in the show, allegedly smokes these and I'm supposed to pay out the ass for a cigar with a Sopranos band slapped on it, that comes in bundles wrapped in some cheesy mafia themed case. LAME!
I guess this is what cigar smoking has come to though....they boom/fad of the 90s may be wearing down, but there's still a lot of pretense in naivety in the cigar industry.

Cho, for a little while i was reading Cigar Afficianodo, like some tool. The ultimate in pretentiousness. Yeah, I guess SOME cigar smokers are rich, but the whole mag was luxury golf courses, hotel suites with trapezes and tubs filled with champagne, $250,00 sports cars, all that jazz. I dont even know why I was reading it, I dont live vicariously through the rich.

They do have good interviews in that magazine. Usually some celeb or sports figure and the convo centers around cigars.
The El Duque issue was really good.

I've seen those CAO/Sopranos sticks in the catalogs and they even stock them at Barclay Rex in midtown. They're pretty obnoxiously priced, I think. The whole way it's presented isn't really my style either. I can see some guido idiot or someone who has never smoked a cigar in their life buying these and thinking they're cool but the whole novelty of the TV series coupled with no fascination in smoking a Brazilian cigar, just buries it for me.

Yeah, I agree.
I think if I were gonna smoke a cigar promoted by a TV series, I'd rather have an Archie Bunker model.

Romeo y Juliettas are pretty good cigars, but usually a tad overpriced for the quality you get. Today I found a couple of nice torpedo shaped RyJs for about 6 bucks each, nice ring gauge, etc. I look forward to firing one of these up:

So last night did things a little diffferent. With the Yanks in the 8PM ESPN slot, I decided to move it out to the backyard, where I flipped on Sterling and Waldman, bought out a handful of Twisted Teas, and had my Sunday cigar. During the day I passed, planning it for the night instead. Outside of yet another crap game by the Yankees, it was a nice night out in the back, and I can see myself doing this again for a night game here and there.

Same, I kicked back last night after a huge BBQ feast out in the Island. We shared some of my Punch Rothschild cigars and admired the construction being done in the yard and shared jokes about Chinatown buses.
So..on saturday, while up at the Fens, I shared some pre-game smokes with one of the other bleacher cigar fans who I was up there with. We lit up those Rocky Patel - The Edge Lite smokes. I was pretty excited to try them as they are rated high. After about 5 minutes, the quality was suspect, it was splitting open, and the wrapper was flaking away. I was not happy. I penned an email yesterday to the Famous Smoke to inquire about returns/refund policy and am anxiously awaiting a response. While I'm not expecting any miracles and will not take anymore risks on unknown cigars anymore, I hope that we can work something out. These were not 'premium' cigars as advertised. I'll be sticking with the RP cuban blends, Padron, and Punch.

I was going to say I was sorry you had a bad experience with them, as I referenced them. It made me sad. But they seemingly made it right. Im glad for that. Enjoy your smokes! I have another batch brewing up for order shortly, its time.

nah...I've bought enough good product off them already to know they are a class operation. It was a gamble I took on a 5 pack and it just wasn't up to snuff. I'll be ordering more Padron 2000 and 3000's soon, since I gave a few away to customers at a work event last week and they really enjoyed. Plus, I got my money back so it's all come out in the wash anyway....I'll just put it back into more cigars.

Cuban rolls record-breaking 43-meter cigarHAVANA9(AFP) – A Cuban cigar roller broke his forth world record, creating a 43.38-meter-long (142-foot-long) stogie that doubled his previous best.
Sixty-five-year-old Jose Castelar smoked his own 2005 record of a 20.41-meter-long (67-foot-long) cigar, and vowed to continue to roll record-breaking creations.
"I'm going to continue until I do one that is the length of the Malecon" he said, referring to Havana's famous 10-kilometer (six-mile) seafront promenade.
Castelar -- who has rolled for a Saudi prince, among others -- received a Guinness world record for his troubles.
Decked out in a traditional white guayabera, Castelar explained he learned to make cigars when he was 14 years old.
But the athletic-looking sexagenarian said he limits himself to smoking one cigar a day.

I had one of these marinating in my humidor for damn near a year now....I forget what I paid for it (I hope it wasn't more than 8 or 9 bucks). The wife and I moseyed over to Starbucks tonight, had some coffees and sat outside while I fired it up. I like the fat ring gauge- 60 or so. It was a bitch just to get the thing lit...might have to tone down the humidity in my box. Pretty tasty about 25% through, but got quite acidic toward the end even though I was careful not to smoke too fast.

What was your wife doing the whole time while you were making your way through a fat cigar outside of a Starbucks? Bless the woman.
