I've had the pomegranate wheat, its a part of a lot of their specialty packs. Its not a new ale. I like it, but I dont think its anything that will help Saranac conquer to globe or anything.

about 2 weeks ago on a walk over to Barclay Rex, I picked up this Rocky Patel Sun Grown tin of Juniors. A friend had given me a few ciagrellos recently and I kind of got into them so I went to pick up some more. As it was, I left the humidor with these. I will fire one up tonight after work, when I'm walking down by Bowling Green and Battery Park.

What's the actual size of that gooner?
Is it close to a cigarette size, or is it still more cigar-like proportions?

it's 4 x 38. Not really a cigarello...more just like a small cigar.

I smoked two of the aforementioned Baccarat cigars (dog rockets) which sucked immensely, and one very decent Punch over the weekend in Las Vegas.

Watching Tuesdays Jeopardy, and one of the questions mentioned a Beer Garden in Munich that seats - 8000 people! Holy Hell! As Emma says when we pass Adventureland, "Mama, I wanna go there!"

The old Rock Ridge Saloon on Varick used to have troughs in the bathroom. With a $5.00 "all you can drink" from 5-10 PM on Fridays and 8-11 on Saturday Nights (Bud and Bud Light) it came in handy.
Many a night the cleaning crew would apparently show up and see people slumbering in them.

In preparation for a few upcoming trips and cigar smoking ops in the next few weeks, I stopped by Barclay Rex on Broad Street today to round out my selection of some of the sticks I'll need. I picked up the following: I've been smoking more and more of these Juniors or Bolos, as these are called. The size is perfect for a quick smoke around the pool or during a BBQ with lots of activity. Not too much of a time commitment and not too cumbersome in case a frisbee comes your way or you decide to take a few hacks with the wifflebat. I like em....and with Punch, you can't go wrong. I prefer the RP Sun Grown Juniors more, but since they're sold out everywhere I got these. I know I've shunned these before saying I thought they were not very interesting but I must say, I've been leaning towards darker smokes these days and this looked good sitting there on the shelf. Turns out, it's only a Brazilian wrapper and the rest is a Nicaraguan product. I'll likely be firing this up at Friday's pre-game tilt. The CAO Brazilia GOL! EDIT: While I'm at it I'll show you what else I've picked up for my travels: Got these on a rec. from someone at my office who knows his smokes (or so he says). Smoked one of these Arturo Fuente's so far and it was a little mild for my liking but still a quality smoke. I look forward to firing the rest of these up in er....Toronto. I split the cost of these with a Travel companion of mine. Too many brands to describe...nothing too unusual but all top of the line smokes. And of course....a 4pack of the Padron 2000. Conveniently packaged and always good for a trip out of town. On one of my upcoming travels, I am excited to be able to purchase some of the foribidden Cuban fruits we all love. No...not in "Toronto" but somewhere closer to Havana itself. I will update then!!

Padron 2000s (as well as 3000, 4000, and 5000s) are always a solid smoke.
One of my personal favorite every day smokes.

Thats quite the kit and kaboodle there. Gooner turned me on to the mini smokes. I picked up a tin, and have only had one to this point, but I echo his statements. I recently had a Famous house brand smoke out of a sampler I grabbed, and was surprised how good a smoke it was. Light and airy, as it were, a clean smoke. Nice burn, had a relaxing time with it.
Not sure what I am bringing up tomorrow, I may just bring one of my darker Partagas cigars.

Anyone ever smoke one of these Arturo Fuente Hemingways before? I've gone through about 8 or 9 now in varying sizes from the Short Story to the Best Seller, and it will really make u want to not smoke anything else. Easy to light Perfecto, even slow burn...and a really great flavor that gets better as the smoke goes along. Not exactly a cheap habit, but I just can't help myself choosing these over other smokes in the store.

Cigar time again. I just about stripped the humidor bare. Not keen on some of the samplers offered, Im going back to my old game of ordering 20 - 25 of a batch and sticking with them. I was looking to change it up, try a new brand, looked at some reviews around the range I was looking to pay this time around. I admit I stopped on this cigar cause of the cool wrapper with the leisurely scene on it. This dude is sitting there strumming a guitar with some chick splayed out for him. Here's the word... La Campiña cigars were inspired by the name of the quaint countryside inn where Arthur and Hal often stay in Esteli, Nicaragua. Spanish for 'countryside,' these relaxing cigars are handmade at Plasencia's Esteli factory using a medium-bodied blend of Esteli Ligero, Jalapa Viso and Honduran Jamastran Seco leaves rolled in silky Ecuadorian Connecticut wrappers. The smoke is smooth, balanced and creamy with accents of nutmeg, toasted almond, and hint of white pepper. BONUS - this pack comes with a FREE box of minis - NESTICOS - 25 of em. Nesticos are the world's first 100% 'Certified Organic' little cigars. Handmade with the same mild, three-year-aged, 100% organically-grown Nicaraguan tobaccos as the big PRO's. Perfect for those 'in-between' cigar breaks when you want a short smoke that's rich in taste, but also high in quality.

Tom, I smoked one of those Plascencia certified organic cigars when I was down in Florida. I will admit, certainly not an unsavory flavor but definitely nothing to write home about. Somewhat bland...however, in the little cigar size, it doesn't really matter. In those cases, you're just looking to get that recreational smoke in while lobbing a frisbee around the yard or taking the pooch for a walk. And of course...being free...it's all gravy. Good buy.

CHO which Rocky did you smoke? Funny, on Friday I was off from work and had a softball playoff game at 6.15, so I headed over to Barclay Rex on Broad Street for a smoke before the game. They have a nice lounge setup with TV's and leather chars and I smoked a box pressed Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 robusto. (the one on the right) I had never smoked a box-pressed cigar before but Tom always says he likes those and to try it so I did. I really enjoyed it and definitely plan on buying more. I also picked up one of those CAO Curly Head Criollo sticks. Was alright..nothing great. I'll stick with the CAO gold and Gold Maduro ones.

It was a rocky patel vintage 1992 - Churchill.
It was a really good smoke. I still have another one left.

Yeah, the Nat Store is right here. They do alot of their own brands which I'm not too familiar with but it's a great store. They've got nice accessories and supplies though. There is a Barclay Rex location on 42nd and Vanderbilt, about a 3 min walk from Nat Sherman which has a decent humidor but nothing great. It's just not a big store like the other locations. To be honest, if you want to go hit Barclay Rex, go to the 50th and Lex location. It's only a 10 min walk from Nat Sherman, the humidor is GIGANTIC with floor to ceiling smokes, and there is a lounge in the back with HD TV's. The Broad Street location which I go to most often is similar to 50th and Lex but sort of out of the way unless you are in Lower Manhattan. They're not always so nice but then again, it's just a cigar shop. They'll answer your questions and halp you out though. Cigar Inn on 2nd Ave and 55th is prob the best. The only freestanding 'Cigar Afficionado' Lounge in existance and another mega humidor. There's also a sidewalk cafe where you can light up and smoke. This place is a new-ish find for me but it's well worth the extra few minutes walk over there. Again, not the nicest people in the world but helpful when you ask questions, especially when you act like you want to buy a box. They also don't follow you around the humidor like you're gonna steal shit like they do at Barclay Rex sometimes. Check this out...pretty funny: www.holts.com/category.html?id=201290&trail=201628To be completely honest with you...These cigars aren't all that good. In fact, they may even be a tad below average. However, do yourself a favor and check out the prices - they're unbelievable! You could probably take an old newspaper and roll it up with dog turds, and sell it for more money than we're charging for these Bottom-Shelf bundles! Well, that may be a stretch, but you get point we're trying to make... These value handmades are the cheapest game in town! They're even cheaper than machine made brands such as Garcia Vega, Phillies and White Owl. Those domestic duds are made using homogenized tobacco, and carry a flavor and aroma that are close to putrid. Our Bottom-Shelf cigars are imported from the Dominican Republic and handcrafted from 100% all-natural tobacco leaves. Furthermore, their flavor and construction are pretty darn good when you consider the microscopic price tag. All in all, these Bottom-Shelf cigars are fine cigars for the money. Value nuts are going to go head over heels for these superfly 7-inchers. In fact, if you're a value smoker and you pass up on this offer, you fully deserve to be horsewhipped. Avoid doing yourself this grave injustice and pick up a bundle of Bottom-Shelf today! Both your tongue and your wallet will thank you deeply.

This thing I miss about working in the City is the ability to find cheap drinks during lunch. When I started working on the Island, I noticed that the only spots that sold beer during lunch came with a $20+ bill.
Recently, I found a watering hole not too far from my office that sells $2.50 Bud & Bud Lights all day everyday.

Had to work this Thursday night...the 10PM - 12AM shift....just got off. My job? Smoking a cigar, and drinking some beers!
It was nice. My family was sleeping inside. Full moon out. Crisp evening, I was out in sweatpants and a longsleeve shirt. Playing some vintage metal (Kreator, Whiplash, etc)
Should have done that a couple of more times during my vacation. One downer, there was a cool ass spiderweb right near the property line, with a GIGANTIC spider in there. My neighbor, who we get along with fantastically, took a broom handle to it just as I was settling in. I would have liked to have watched that huge arachnid as I chilled.
