Now sipping... www.leffe.com/ Not bad at all, but rather dull after the Leinenkugel Summer Wheat... I think that might be the best beer I have ever had. The Leffe is smooth and tasty with a very creamy head.

I may very well share that sentiment...
What the F are the rest of you waiting for? If Laura and I can agree on it, you know its good.

Selection #3 of tonight's random 6... www.anheuser-busch.com/press_room/beachbum_blonde_052407.htmlI had to buy it because it was called beach bum, and unbeknowst to me it turned out to be an Anheuser-Busch product... indubitably the best thing I've every tasted from their breweries. It is very light & spicy with that hoppy kick that IPAs have, only lighter. Goes really well with the chicken parm pizza I ordered for dinner... (Very nice, but not even in the same stratosphere as the Leinenkugel...)

I fell asleep last night before I got to try another selection, but with dinner tonight I tried a nice ale from Canada... Very smooth and light... nothing particularly special, but I enjoyed it with my dinner. It went well with the chicken I marinated & grilled (see the food thread.)

Now sipping this Vermont creation... very light, sweet and fruity... a decent dessert beer, but there isn't much to it. It is very thirst quenching... maybe good for a really hot day when you are in the mood for one of those fruit selzer waters, but you want some EtOH content? www.harpoonbrewery.com/

What, do you have a fridge with nothing but beer in it? Where the Hell are you keeping all of this beer?

Well, there's only one left from the six now, soon to be none!
In my first post yesterday, I stated that I bought a mixed 6... and it really is not that hard to fit 6 beers in fridge full of food, even if there's already a 12-pack sitting in there.

OK, so I have had about 6 beers since opening day, up until Tuesday night... and today I had a really REALLY bad day at work, so I stopped for a 6 on the way to Dave's house...
First I had a:
SAM SUMMER ALE
All I can say is eh. Very mediocre.
Then I had a:
SAM CHERRY
I really enjoyed this beer, and I am going to go have another!

Cherry Wheat is my favorite of the Sam Adams varieties.

Little note about "Sam" Samuel Adams - he and his father were actually failed brewers. Their brewery went belly up due to poor management and their brew was hardly acclaimed.
He is much more famous as a patriot, he helped conspire The Boston Tea Party, served as a state-level politician, and a prominent writer of political essays.
I'm not sure what claims of ancestry the modern day Boston Beer Company (brewers of Sam Adams beer) makes in relation to the man, but to me it would be sort of like marketing a new expensive, luxury automobile and linking your auto engineering legacy to the great inventors of the Edsel.

Maybe Sam Adams is the Wally Amos of the beer world.

Saranac Pale Ale has won the Gold Medal in the English Pale Ale Category of the 2007 North American Beer Awards, beating the ever-popular Samuel Adams in this category. The North American Brewers Association announced Saranac Pale Ale the winner from among more than 1,000 entries representing breweries from The United States, Canada and Mexico.
At the Australian International Beer Awards 2007 competition, Saranac Imperial IPA won the only Gold Medal awarded in the India Pale Ale category, and Saranac Pale Ale won Silver in the British-Style Pale Ale category (no Gold was given). The AIBA is Australia's most prestigious beer event and has become firmly established on the international brewing calendar as a renowned barometer of quality and diversity in beer brewing throughout the world. The AIBA remains the largest showcase for premium beer and brewing excellence in the Asia Pacific Region.
Saranac Brown Ale was the regional winner in the Brown Ale category of the United States Beer Tasting Championship (Winter Competition). A total of 368 beers from 130 breweries were examined across 12 different beer categories.

Hey, how long do you think Saranac would be good for... like if it got forgotten about in the back of the fridge for a year or two, would it still taste good?
I just had a very Homer Simpson moment... I have a case of Miller Lite sitting out on my balcony, that has been out there since about November. I feared that it was utterly skunked and was lamenting at the game last Friday about how sad it would be to have to throw it away... you know, with the whole sin of waste not, want not... so I went with the suggestion to stick one in the fridge and test it.
I took it out and poured it into a nice frosted mug when I got home from work this evening... It looked ok... it smelled ok... and most importantly, it TASTED ok!!! IT'S STILL GOOD!!! IT'S STILL GOOD!!! WHOO HOO!!!

November?

November? I don't know which fact amazed me more...the fact that beer has been on the premises since November or that Miller Lite was in possession considering the quality brews Laura has been discussing.

Well, I very rarely consume beer at home, unless I have guests... and I haven't had many guests since Christmas.
As for the selection, I am actually quite a fan of the Miller Lite. I'll get a 6 of good beer here and there, when I want to sip one or two... but when I want to drink many beers, I find that the Miller Lite both tastes great and is less filling. It is also both economical and low in carbs... a good call.

I find that the Miller Lite both tastes great and is less filling. Oh damn...I thought hearing that on a TV ad was the last time I would hear that phrase.

Ah, I should have put my whiskey stuff in here. Anyway, looking for a quick intermission to break up the day at work, I just ambled out to the parking lot armed with my MP3 player (with external speaker plugged in) and a nice BACKWOODS cigar. Ah, a smooth smoke. Got these babies at the gas station - 8 sticks for 6 bucks. These are good for the short burst, when I dont have the time to puff on one of my fat stogies, but want the relaxing draw of a cigar. These are really good, although they turn heads and everyone seems to think I am smoking the greenbud.

I love Backwoods cigars. Tom, we've lit up a few sticks over the years on occasion. We should get a pouch of those for the next day we're out drinking.
It's like Big League Chew, for cigar smokers.

Wow, this thread takes forever to load, thanks to Laura's virtual 40 oz of Sam Adams summer ale and Miller Lite displays. Like nobody's ever seen a Miller or a bottle of Sam before.
Backwoods blows Phillies away. It's practically soaked with flavor and stuffed with tabak so it's flowing out at the ends...like a real handrolled, lumberjack smoke.

Exactly, BACKWOODS cigars makes me want the winter to come, so I can step outside, clear some snow off the steps so I can sit down and light one up, while sipping some of that biting whiskey.
They are indeed loaded with flavor. Passerbys dont even mind them all so much, as they smell like old man pipe. And whenever I am smoking them there are LOTS of passerbys all of a sudden who would not normally be passing me by, cause they think I am smoking the Jamaico or the greenbud.
I have not partook in any of the zany Honey flavors and the like, these regular dark suit me fine.

I've smoked the Honey Berry flavor a few times. It's alright, not as tasty as you'd think. I too prefer the regular or what I usually end up with, the Sweet Aromatic.
That Wild Rum sounds interesting...

I was not aware that you have started taking cigars to work. have you turned into those "smoking break" people? I despise them.
