And the final session of the year begins.
Reminder that this session is one day longer than all the others because of the last day.
We start off with the Biggest Asshole of the Year Award.
It goes to Knoblauch for having Carlos Zambrano on his BENCH when he pitches a no hitter. That's 78 points Knoblauch can forget about.
But hey, at least he had Nick Blackburn give him a -10.
Good job Girardi!
Anyway, Knoblauch got 18 points total.
Pops--80 Larry--79 Milton--49 Justin--47 John--45 Evan--40 Jose--39 Capone--36 Suzy--31 Neil--25 Tom--23 Knoblauch--18

No harm in Knoblauch not using Zambrano. There was a question he would even get the start, or how effective he would be. He's been hurt. No shame on this one.

There is always shame in missing a no hitter.

Could Evan make up another 140 points and steal the league?

Realistically, Evan isn't going to catch Knoblauch. It's not mathematically impossible, but it's unlikely.
However, we do have a very close race at the other end of the spectrum. Justin is doing everything he can to climb out of the basement. Only 18 points separates him from Milton and that goal.
Justin's team has been very hot/cold--mostly cold, but a final push hot streak can certainly put him in 11th.

The battle for the basement is heating up, as Justin pulls to within 14 points of Milton with 4 days to go.

And with just 3 days to go, Justin has moved into 11th place by 7 points.
This is going to be a photofinish.
A couple of things to note--
There is no Session 14. Sunday's games, as always, will count toward Session 13.
If there are any one game playoffs, whether they count will depend on Yahoo. In past years, Yahoo did NOT count one game playoffs. However, if that changes, we change accordingly.
Assuming everything is done after Sunday's games, unofficial final session 13 standings will be posted on Monday morning, and given the stamp at some point Monday night when I get to Excel on the home computer.
John--499 Evan--477 Pops--477 Jose--472.67 Larry--447 Knoblauch--412.33 Justin--402.33 Suzy--386.67 Neil--386.33 Capone--383.33 Milton--380.33 Tom--360.33

Pathetic, but I have to fight right down to the end. My only question is to whether or not to go with 4 or 5 starters on Sunday...

Balls, Im absolutely stunned that you did not bother to keep us informed on the day to day on this, the last weekend of the year, with last place on the line. Its obvious you and the league need to part ways after the year.
Inexcusable.

Considering several months ago, I told you on this very board that was happening anyway, I couldn't care less. Not my fault you led this league to Dullsville.
Should be interesting to see what the final standings look like tomorrow. Things are actually shaping up for a stunning ending. Or not. We shall see.

Balls, dont even act like you not coming back was your idea.
Any chance we can get the numbers by, oh, 10AM tomorrow? Or will you be too busy catching up at work in between posts in every other section on the board.

So here are the unofficial final standings. Should be accurate, but nothing is official until I take care of this at home.
Yahoo is NOT counting today's games, which is stupid. It's part of the regular season. ESPN rightfully counts it.
Kudos to Justin, who worked like a dog to get out of the cellar, and successfully banished Milton. Not only did Justin not finish in last, but he leapfrogged over Capone, and was pretty close to finishing in his familiar 9th.
Congrats to Knoblauch, Evan & Jose for finishing in the money, and to John for winning Session 13.
More final thoughts later.

Well, Milton was not coming back anyway, and will never be back, so I see this as poetic in a sense.
Good for the winners, although for varying reasons at least one of them will not be back either.

Nice finish for me, I guess.
But I'm proof that having the top player doesn't win you jack squat.
I had the best pitcher and best hitter this season, and I struggled mightily to finish 10th. Awful.
I partially blame the pictures of me in Iowa garb. I want those replaced in short order.

No problem. Get me a picture of approximately the same size, and I will gladly make that change. My only request is that you get a picture with some sort of smug look on your face. The more smug, the better. A winner needs to have some sort of arrogance.
