Friggin Paul Dianno, touring the US for the first time in 15 years. He had all kinds of legal snafus keeping him off these shores. Not only does Dianno sing on two of my favorite albums of all time, he wrote the best autobiography I have ever read. Im one of the few who have followed him every step of the way, even through his "Down" soundalike phase. Hell, he even put a pop - synth rock album out in the mid 80s. He comes around here, Im seeing him. Only two shows have been announced for now, both in Virginia.

Nice of him to "borrow" Iron Maiden's font, too.

Yeah, he gets a lot of crap for that. Hell, he gets crap for having 80% of his set consisting of nearly 30 year old Iron Maiden songs.
But you know what? Hes earned it! He's the man!

He did have a great voice back when he was with Maiden. It's funny how Maiden had most of its success with a completely different voice (obviously Dickinson).

In what is a surprise to few, the tour has been "postponed." Visa issues, which are not surprising considering the man has been banned from the country for 15 years or so. He is still hoping to come around "sometime in 2009."
Dan the man knew something was up as he has been hoping to procure out tickets for Crazy Donkey, and the purchase option was mysteriously not available for the listed show. This has me glum, we were looking forward to this one.

PAUL DI'ANNO: New York City Date Announced - Nov. 19, 2009 According to the web site of the B.B. King Blues Club & Grill in New York City, former IRON MAIDEN singer Paul Di'Anno will perform at the venue on January 27, 2010 as part of his first U.S. tour in over 15 years. Support at the show will come from ICARUS WITCH.
When asked by Vue Weekly in a recent interview about the possibility of releasing a new studio album in the not-too-distant future, Di'Anno replied, "We did five new tracks in Germany last year — it's very industrialized — but we got in a bit of an argument with the record company and we told them to piss off, basically. So I kept them songs and a friend of mine where I am right at the minute in Salisbury down in Southwest England, has just handed me 16 pieces of music so I'm going to go away when I have a bit of time and see what I can come up with for that."

First thing regarding this is everyone in the world doubts this show will happen. Dianno has long been banned from these US shores, due to a myriad of arrests and convictions back in the day. Every single time they try to plan one of these shows, they fall through.
As to Icarus Witch, the band - another power metal outfit with a singer that is so shrill I thought it was a chick, but its a dude.
