We were just listening to REO Speedwagon's "Hi Infedelity" on the car-ride in to work this morning. That was the first vinyl I ever bought. But I digress.
So, who's goin to this?
TWISTED SISTER, POISON, FOREIGNER, JOURNEY Songs Featured In 'Rock Of Ages' Musical - Oct. 16, 2008 Playbill.com reports that the 1980s-set musical "Rock of Ages" — starring "American Idol" finalist Constantine Maroulis — officially opens at Off-Broadway's New World Stages October 16. Previews began October 1.
Featuring a book by Chris D'Arienzo, the musical, press notes state, is "fueled by high-octane '80s rock — from the anthems that defined an era to the power ballads that lit up arenas everywhere." Expect songs by JOURNEY, BON JOVI, STYX, REO SPEEDWAGON, PAT BENATAR, TWISTED SISTER, POISON, ASIA and WHITESNAKE.
The producers describe the musical as such: "It's the late 1980s and the final countdown is on for a legendary Hollywood rock club facing its demise at the hands of eager developers. When a young rocker hungry for his big break and a small town girl chasing her dreams land on the scene at this infamous venue, how far will ambition drive them? And will it be lights out for the club and all the regulars and rockers who have made it their home?"

OK....not a theater guy but took the girlfriend to this show last night for her birthday....cheesy 80's songs are performed around a story of a small town girl and a guy from detroit(1 song) who are both trying to make it in show biz in 1980"s LA....the girls charecters name is sherri christian (2 more songs)...the show starred the greek guy who was on american idol a few years ago....part of the show is based in a rock club and the other part in a strip club...lots of scantily clad dancers in the production....the house band was good and the singing was OK....the audience was filled with lots of suburban house fraus who were chugging coors lite like they had a tip on an upcoming prohibition....you could see the performers getting a little pissed with the ladies in the crowd who thought everyone came to hear them sing....not a bad night out(1/2 price tix)....maybe the theater was a little too alcohol friendly....but we had a fun time
