What, like people 'round here are never inappropriate and politically incorrect? It's a prediction, not a plot against the government.

Its a dumbass prediction from apparently a dumbass.
Im not speaking against it as a "board moderator." Im speaking against it as a human being who is flabbergasted at the ignorance of anyone who is even thinking about that tonight.

Who gives a shit? Does it make you feel better that theres another idiot out there like you?
Why is all of a sudden a disgruntled white guy going to shoot the President, when a gangsta hood would not do it if McCain won?

It's a stupid thought, so the source is not surprising. First, it's absolutely impossible given how great our Secret Service is. Second, it would force many of his ridiculous ideas through Congress as badly as when they shot Kennedy.
The only deaths I'm worried about are the ones on our shores in a few years when we get hit again. Our only hope is that his terrorist pals call a truce while he's in office.

I'm by far from an elitist Balls. Unlike many of my liberal brethren, my political leanings have nothing to do with all of these red-herring social issues.
I'm not a tree-hugger, bird-watcher, Greenpeacer, million-man-marcher....I am not any of that.
As a matter of fact, I will go as far as to say that most of my fellow-liberals display a distinct lack of understanding of exactly how macro-economics works and comes into play with all of these little pet-issues. Economics is the parent issue....all other issues, socio-economic, environmental, humanitarian, are child-node issues...and frankly people don't understand that. As a matter of fact, many politicians (liberal and conservative alike) are elected by successfully diverting voter's attentions away from economics and giving these lesser issues the appearance (smoke and mirrors) of paramount importance.
Quick example - crime! Liberals love to preach about leniency, anti-death penalty, etc. Conservatives love to preach about stricter sentences and more cops on the street. Both sides are short-sighted. You don't fix crime by giving out harsher sentences or adding more cops...all you do is arrest more people, crowd more prisons, and cost the taxpayer's more money. On the flip-side, you don't fix crime by trying to "rehabilitate" rather than "punish" - you just give scumbag criminals more motivation to commit crimes via reduced fear of repercussions of getting caught. What you do is FIX THE FUCKING ECONOMY (whether that be via liberal or conservative economic strategies)....so MORE people have jobs and fewer people are motivated by crime as a way to make ends meet.
Same thing for the environment - Corporate America CAN'T make economically sound attempts to be more green, when other external economic strifes don't provide the financial freedom to explore more green methods of doing business.
And the list goes on and on....a healthy economy will provide more sensible solutions to abortion, welfare, social security, health care, THE WAR, etc.
I am not interested in all of the hippie-esque little side issues that fly around in our faces like so many gnats....leave that kind of thinking to people like FPY to contemplate along with discussions about hemp-clothing during hackeysack tournaments in college quad. Hippies who don't have shit, have lots of free time to complain about things. Professionally successful-to-moderately-successful liberals, as I like to think I am, have bigger fish to fry - the economy.
No, I didn't vote for Obama to show everyone that I'm enlightened enough to vote for a black man.
My voting patterns, historically, can be chalked up to one key concept - I believe that Supply Side Economics is detrimental to the overall good of our economy, and ultimately our society.
I think you could at least respect that, Balls ... that my liberal beliefs are based on one of many varying applied economic theories .... you and I just subscribe to different ones.

No argument about how the economy helps lessen crime, but at the same time, criminals should have harsher sentences. If you do commit a crime, you should pay for it.

That was just an arbitrary example Balls...I'm not disagreeing with you ... the bottom line is that the severity of sentencing, although important, tends to be less significant when the economy is good and fewer people are committing crimes.
A good economy propagates sound solutions to ALL other issues, social and otherwise, that affect this country.

We're going to see pretty soon how serious Obama is about change. Specifically, once he starts naming his cabinet. One name I'm hoping gets on the list is Colin Powell. I'm mad as hell at Powell for endorsing Obama, but that doesn't erase his accomplishments. According to the Post, there is a possibility that he would be Secretary of Defense. There's even talk about keeping Robert Gates, the current defense secretary, for wartime continuity. Both those picks would be good ones.
The Post is also speculating about John Kerry or NM Gov Bill Richardson as possible Secretaries of State. I don't know a thing about Richardson, but given that the Secretary of State is important in diplomacy, and given that Kerry is SUCH a pompous ass, I can't imagine Kerry being good at the job.

There is a lot of talk about Cabinet members from the Republican party, and other non-standard issue picks. At the same time, some "Kennedys" are being named as possibles too. We'll see.

Chris--NOT worrying about foreign policy is big reason behind 9/11. Already the Russians are testing us. Obama is a complete novice, and a naive one at that. If he doesn't get a stellar team behind him, he won't be able to focus on ANYTHING he wants to do.
And a stellar team, a team that really signifies that he truly is about change, would involve Republicans, especially someone like Colin Powell.

Obama: The Hot New Baby Name?
HOLLYWOOD, Florida — Barack Obama may have a "funny name," as he once said — but it might just catch on among the nation's newborns.
A Florida couple became among the country's first to bestow it on their child, even before most news outlets had declared the Illinois senator the president-elect.
Sanjae Obama Fisher was born at 8 p.m. local time at Hollywood's Memorial Regional Hospital to Patrick and Sasha Hall Fisher.
A hospital spokeswoman says it was the father's idea. But mom still got to watch the election, after 14 hours at the hospital.
Sanjae has two siblings, 8-year-old sister Shaniah and 4-year-old brother Shane.
In Arkansas, Benjamin Barack Kimbrough was born at 2:35 p.m. local time on Election Day to Walter and Adria Kimbrough. Walter Kimbrough is president of Philander Smith College, a historically black school in Little Rock.
In Maryland, a mother who went into labor Tuesday after voting for Obama named her newborn daughter for the Obamas' two girls, 7-year-old Sasha and Malia, 10.
Lakisha Brown of Joppa gave birth to Sasha Malia Ann Taylor at 12:36 a.m. local time Wednesday at Greater Baltimore Medical Center.
GBMC spokesman Michael Schwartzberg said Brown watched Obama's victory speech while she was in labor at the hospital. She says she was so struck by the love Obama showed to his daughters that she decided to name her baby after them.

So much for change. Obama's not only failing to reach out to the 56 million voters that didn't want him, he has the most polarizing democrat in the country on his short list for Secretary of State. After all, who better to make a foreign policy novice president look competent than a Secretary of State less competent than he is? Hillary Clinton.
He seems to be regurgitating Clinton era people for his transition. Looks like the socialist leftist wacko will be governing the country rather than the centrist who actually won the election.
