Happy July 4th, hope the weather stays relatively dry, although I could give a hoot about the fireworks portion of the day. We have a barbecue to hit late afternoon. I am happy it wont be 100 degrees, like a few of the last July 4ths have been.
LOL @ Nick Jr doing a sly nod to July 4th in their own way, running episodes of "Wonder Pets" and "Dora the Explorer" back to back that simply have themes of CONEY ISLAND. And, speaking of which, I think at noon - more for hot dog fan Emma's amusement than anything, I think we will put on the silly hot dog eating contest on ESPN or ESPN-2 for a chuckle and a turn of the stomach.
So enjoy! God Bless America, love your land. I was just listening to John Rich (from Big and Rich fame) 's rollicking tune "Raising McCain."
Cheers all.

In all due respect, I wonder if he realizes.

I'm hoping the fireworks tonight will be better than the baseball this afternoon!

Odds are no, considering rain is in the forecast for tonight.

Why, Tom, I'm shocked. I've never heard you predict rain before.

And you know somethin? Im always right. Oddly, I predict rain when, guess what - its going to rain.
We just got back from a barbecue, and I am pretty damp, from some of that rain I predicted.

No rain here... and we have had fireworks blasting away in our neighborhood for almost 2 hours...

Laura, stop playing dumb, as always. I dont need to defend my prognostications yesterday. We closed the eve watching the fireworks show out of NYC, and umbrellas abounded...it was pouring. We ourselves spent the evening in Bethpage, in spitting rain. I think you are lying about a lack of rain by you, but whatever. It fucking rained, and I was right.

Our cul-de-sac closes down the street each 4th and throws a little shin-dig of a block party.
That was fun. My and me three year old son were eliminated in three straight rounds of water balloon toss (he has the hands of stone).
My 9 year old daughter thought it was funny for some reason to lead me to believe over the past few years that she was deathly afraid of ride her bike without training wheels...only to see her peddling around like Lance Armstrong on some other kids bike.
Later we watched the 104 year old Huntington Beach fireworks show on the beach, then lit off some fireworks (the legal kind) of our own.

Yeah, except they take a 364 day, 23 hour and 15 minute break every so often.
