I like the picture of Ernie Hudson for the top picture of the day. I went to college with 2 of his sons and ended up meeting Mr. Hudson in 1992. Damn I'm getting old.

Until I went to college, I just knew him as "the black guy from Ghostbusters." In fact, one of my classmates pointed out one of his sons and said "his dad is the black guy from Ghostbusters."

It's a shame no one remembers Winston as much, he's a great Ghostbuster.
And see the movie Tom, you'll like it. It's not overly hokey like the cartoon if you ever any of that. It's a comedy masterpeice. It's ghostbusting fun for the entire family.

Exactly. I'm glad there are people that recognize his accomplishments. For whatever reason, Zeddemore found himself riding a wave of popularity. A lot of people listed him as their favorite Ghostbuster, and in fact, there was even a SNL skit on it. Ernie Hudson himself is a very good actor, and manages to keep working.
In my research today, I learned that Zeddemore was originally supposed to be an ex-Marine who was actually the smartest of the bunch. He was supposed to have multiple Ph.Ds, but that was changed to make him more of the every man of the group. I think it was a good call, given that the 3 white guys were capable scientists.
And yes, Ghostbusters is a classic. While Ghostbusters 2 wasn't as good, it was still a solid sequel, highlighted by the scene with the Statue of Liberty.
Winston Zeddemore was the people's Ghostbuster.

OUTSTANDING CHOICE!!!!
Not only was he a great Ghostbuster, not only did he deliver one of the classic lines in cinematic history, "Ray, when someone asks you if you're a God, you SAY YES!" ....but he was a great warden at the Oswald Correctional Facility for Men as well.

I disagree with number two. Every bit as good as one. It was a totally different feel than number one and I can't judge them as sequels, I judge it as a totally seperate story. Plus, there's as many funny lines in two as there is in one.
You know I've met some dumb blondes in my life, but you take the taco pal. Only a carpathian would come back to life, now, and choose New York. Tasty pick, bonehead. If you had brain one in that melon on top of your neck, you'd be living the sweet life in Southern Californias beautiful San Fernando Valley.
Kitten, I think what I'm saying is sometimes shit happens, and who you gonna call?
And I can't even do Louis' speech in the courtroom, fucking classic. Two is every bit as good as one, another fucking gem.

Don't get me wrong--just because I don't think 2 was as good as the first, doesn't mean I didn't like 2.
Too bad Ghostbusters 3 never got off the ground.

Two was AS GOOD as One. The sometimes shit happens and who you gonna call line was brilliant.

Egon- I'd like to run gynecological tests on the mother. Veinkman-Who wouldn't
I could go all day. As for 3, it's going straight to video game. All the guys doing voices, new story, it looks pretty sick. I will be first on line buying it, Ghostbusters and Ninja Turtles made up 85% of my childhood, 10% wrestling 5% sports so anything Ghostbusters is fucking great to me. Plus, I wouldn't want to see Bill Murray fat and old with white hair putting on the proton pack. As long as he voices Veinkman I'm happy, I wouldn't want them to copy and pull a Stallone anyway, Ghostbusters are better than that.

I'd rather they follow the original plan and do the whole movie CGI style.

If old-ass Harrison Ford is worthy of a theatrical release of another Indiana Jones movie, if old-ass Sly is worthy of TWO played-out rehashes of old institutions, then certainly fat Bill Murray and Dan Ackroyd are worthy of a big budge Ghostbuster sequel.

They're worth it, but I'd be afriad it'd take away. With either CGI or video game they can look pretty good and still sound the same. Just cause they're worh it doesn't make it a smart move. Plus I think Bill Murray has to much pride to do some shit like that. Like nyou said, Stallone and Ford all re-doing 80's blockbusters, I'd hate Ghostbusters 3 to just be a follow the leader film and pull the same crap.

Interestingly enough, they are trying to lure Bill Murray to do a Meatballs sequel. Rocky Balboa and Rambo were both decent movies. I'm sure Indy 4 will be solid too.

Ernie Hudson is a lot like Sinbad and Will Smith - he's non-threatening, suitable for white-folk consumption. We whiteys don't mind seeing Ernie Hudson in movies commiserating and cavorting with the white folk.
It's the "too black too strong types" (Wesley Snipes) that turn us off - those are the kinds of guys we only really want to see play "street toughs."

Tom asked me to post his choice of African American of the Day. A very good choice I may add. Condoleeza Rice is the first black woman to ever hold the office of Secretary of State. She was also the first woman National Security Advisor. Way to go!
On a side note, to mark the halfway point of February, later today I will be changing the bottom pictures for the second half.

I admit, I'm in a quandry. I have a candidate, but due to necessity, he will be gracing the bottom of the page at lunch time. He is worthy of the honor, but I guess you could argue that being at the bottom is a greater honor. Given that tomorrow is a weekend AAOTD, I may have to take a request.
