Heat Miser was the man behind the man behind the man.

Did you see....there's a new 2008 Miser Brothers special?
It was on last week...I DVR'd it.

I DVRd it as well, and although I enjoyed the repartee between the Miser Brothers on the original, I dont have high hopes for this new offering.
I may need to make sure I am knee deep into the spiked egg nog before we sit down to watch it.

I watched some of the new Miser Brothers Christmas last night. All I can say is wow. It is terrible. How can you write something that bad? The only interesting things were Mickey Rooney reprising his role as Santa at age 88 and George Iriving as Heatmiser at 86 (also, he looks like the Heat Miser in real life). Too bad the Snow Miser guy died in 1987, because his replacement is horrible.
I did not have high hopes going in, but apparently my expectations were not low enough.
This one can be filed next to Frosty the Snowman Returns (with John Goodman as Frosty) and Rudolph's Shiny New Year.

Yeah, I expected all along this would be a bomb of epic proportions, and plan on having drinks on hand when we do watch it. Actually, I believe its potentially on tap tonight, although Charlie Brown may muscle his way in.
There is a "new" Muppet Christmas offering on Wednesday, I am DVRing it. I dont have high hopes there, even as an avowed Muppets fan. There was a "new" one a few years ago that had some celebs appearing, and it was beyond bad.

How did the brilliance of Emmit Otter's Jugband Christmas get lost in all of this discussion?

All of a sudden I dont like the Heat Miser nearly as much.
We just did the Emmet Otter thing a couple of nights ago. An annual tradition that will continue until we are all dead. We have that version above, which sadly has Kermit the Frog and his homespun narrarator role axed out. What a fantastic offering the show is, and I love the Paul Williams penned soundtrack.

I loved what a hard sell it was to get Emmit to join the band.
NO WAY. COUNT ME OUT. I'm NOT in your band.
Why not?
Because to make a washtub bass, you have to put a hole in the washtub. No way am I putting a hole in Mom's washtub.

I love the chilling shriekly sound effect when Emmet hammered the nail into the washtub (which went in quite crooked, by the way)

And how was Emmet expected to be excited about the prospect of the band when the only reason he was even recruited was because his Mom had the washtub.
At least they recognized the Jug Blowing talent of Wendel.
