I don't think Owen appreciated having his picture taken while making a head call.

I was so proud of him! Everyone told me I would have to lock him in a little room with his litter box for a week until he learned to use it. I wouldn't do that to him and he went in it by himself (with a little urging from Dad) without having any accidents on my floors!

Named after the deceased Hart brother?

While he was not necessarily named after Owen Hart, it made the name pass easy muster for me, cause thats the first thing I thought of. Owen also means "warrior" pretty much, and this one fits the bill, in exuberance. Likes to climb on things just to jump off. Loves the cat toys that you would imagine drive a pet crazy instead. Petulant, as he stood by his litter box - which was as clean as a used litter box is, this morning and meowed and whined until we scooped it out.
We'll have lots of cat stories...yes, we are becoming THOSE people.
I like having him around. We left him by himself today for the first time, realized a couple of blocks away i forgot our coffees, and went back. The dope was in the window, probably looking for us. When Dana and Emma left for that party yesterday, I watched him clamber into the window, watch them go, and seemingly mope for a few before he started playing with me again.

I was actually reading the Chris Benoit book this summer which had mentions of Owen Hart and that was when I realized how much I liked that name. I have been told that if we have a son his name has to be Thomas so I named the cat Owen. It suits him well. I was never a cat person until recently when I took care of a cat that won me over. Now I want to adopt every cat I see. We were actually going to adopt Owen's sister too but we were a day late deciding and somebody else took her. Probably for the best because he is quite the handful.

Couple more pics of Owen. Because he is so darn cute! His latest trick is to jump from the ledge of the bay window and slide across the coffee table.

Emma's little brother is ADORABLE!!! I highly recommend: Mine was an impulse buy when I ran into Stop & Shop for kitty food, and it REALLY helps decrease the amount of kitty litter that gets kicked out of the box & tracked everywhere...

LOL @ the little staircase there.
Yeah, we've been kicking around some roofed in litterboxes. Our kitten is quite fastidious, and loves shuffling around his box of sand, as it were.

The stairs actually serve to knock the litter off of their paws as they climb out of the box... and the roof tends to, uh, block some of the more pungent odor that can waft out before the litter absorbs it...

I definitely want to get him a covered box. The little box he has now is temporary. I followed the advice of people whom I believed to have cat expertise but they were wrong.
First, people told me that he would not be able to climb in and out of a bigger box so I had to get a small one. NOT TRUE. This little guy can climb onto anything. At two months old he has no trouble jumping onto my bed or onto the windowsill or climbing the curtains. Then there was the aforementioned bit of information regarding having to train him to use the litter box. My little genius cat was using it all by himself from the very beginning. He's a good boy. A total pain in the ass, but a good boy. I love my Owen.

He is adorable. And cats -- especially kittens -- are supposed to be pains in the ass!

I have never heard of training a cat to use the box... they just know. You CAN train a cat to use the toilet, but I hear it is extremely difficult.

Eh, I know a bunch of cat owners who had cats having "accidents" until they were continually plopped into the box and I guess realized that is their dumper. In fact, one of Dana's coworkers took the sister of Owen, and she is still going all over the house, and just now learning to use the litterbox on each and every occassion.
This has only happened after he has been told to bring her to the box after feeding, and keep her in it until she goes.

C'mon Cho, c'mon Laura. Did the Bible mention them getting begat of their Mom, looking for a litterbox?

Cats don't follow the Bible. You'll learn that soon enough!

I should get some for my cats now that they're older. I gave my first cat some when she was still a kitten and swore I'd never allow the stuff in the house again. She was crashing off walls and furniture like the Tasmanian Devil.

Weed allegedly does the same thing (per my brother, the pothead). The only difference between catnip and wacky tabacky is THC. My brother claims that he left one of his bags out one morning and when he returned that evening, he saw my cat's teethmarks on the bag.
