Having cleared that up, I must say....
Not having Brent Musberger in the top 10, falling in way behind Jon Miller of all people....that's a crock of shit!!!!
Jon Miller SUCKS!

Holy Crap...Pat Summerall near the bottom of the list? Why don't you just tell me that Abe Lincoln was the 23rd greatest President while you're at it.

It might also be interesting to see a list of top sportscasting TEAMS.
Obviously, Allen and Barber, who were a team, and ranked #2 & 3 individually, would be #1.
Sometimes teams make you better, like Rizzuto and White.

And see, as much as I loved hearing Rizzutto do games, he was a clown...a character. Not a legitimate sports journalist.
And you might even say the same of someone like John Madden, Terry Bradshaw.
A lot of these ex-jock analysts made the list, and usually they are lousy and inarticulate....and there more for their name and to be amusing.
Compiling a list that would include Al Michaels AND Phil Rizzutto in the same discussion is stupid. Apples and Oranges.
I can think of only a handful of ex-jocks who have made the transition into serious sport journalists - Kubek (who is on the list), Joe Garagiola (also on the list), arguably Frank Gifford.

Outside of New York there is no love at all for Phil Rizzuto as a broadcaster, from anyone who has heard him. In fact, out of YANKEE FANS, there is no love for him.
He was simply a clown.

That was the latter part of his career. In his prime, he was actually quite good. That's probably why he made the list.

Well, I agree he was a clown Tom, but I respectfully disagree with your take that no one outside of New York loved him, as evident by this poll, voted on by the American Sportscasters Association.
Clowns can be loved too.

All the runner up's have argument to be on the list over Joe Buck. That's such crap to not only be 32 but on the fucking list at all. He's the worse announcer ever. He proved it with his no emotion, dead pan delivery of the Phillies winning the Series. He has no emotion calling a game whatsoever and I knew that when he called games when the Yanks were winning series.
That's a fucking joke, everything else is fine.

I'll take Marv Albert for play-by-play over Bob Costas and Al Michaels.

I dont like any of those guys. But if I had to listen to one, I would probably go with Michaels. Costas thinks he is some grand sage.
