TWISTED SISTER: 25th Anniversary Reisue Of 'Stay Hungry' Pushed Back A Week - Apr. 23, 2009
The release date for the 25th-anniversary reissue of TWISTED SISTER's "Stay Hungry" album has been pushed back one week to June 30 from the previously announced June 23. The set will feature loads of bonus material, including one brand new track, "30", that the band recently recorded.
The package includes:
* "Stay Hungry" remastered * Ten never-before-heard songs originally demoed for "Stay Hungry" * Five early demos of songs from "Stay Hungry" * One brand new song * One rare radio spot using "SMF" as the music bed
"Stay Hungry" bonus tracks:
* "Death From Above" * "Prime Motivator" * "Were Not Gonna Take It" * "Death Run" * "This One's For You" * "SMF" * "We're Coming On" * "Call My Name" * "Burn In Hell" * "Pay The Price" * "What's Love Without You" * "Our Voice Will Be Heard" * "You've Got To Fight" * "The Price" * "Stay Hungry" * "30"
TWISTED SISTER guitarist Jay Jay French commented: "A couple of years ago, while playing to 80,000 fans in Quebec after not playing there since 1984, it struck me just how important our album 'Stay Hungry' had become. It broke sales records in 8 countries and the videos made us international stars. Canada especially had gone crazy for the album and bought it at a much greater proportional rate against U.S. sales then any album in recent memory.
"We had just released our re-recorded version of it called 'Still Hungry'. While talking to our fans in Canada, it struck me how many still preferred the original 'Stay Hungry'. Maybe, as band members, we were just too close to the whole thing. Maybe we just weren't seeing it and, more importantly, hearing it through the eyes of the fans who had spent the last 23 years with their ears tuned in to the sound of the original record. I knew that in two years a milestone was approaching. In May of 2009, the 25th anniversary of 'Stay Hungry' would arrive. I started to think of a way to recognize and celebrate the music and the times which had become so important to the lives of not only our millions of fans around the world, but also to acknowledge the importance and relevance of all of the music created by the hard rock bands of that period. What became obvious to me was that just re-mastering the original record was not a reason to re-release it. The only way this could be 'special' was to locate any material that was recorded by us at the time and never released so as to make a truly great two-disc package.
"Much to the band's surprise, Atlantic/Rhino discovered a series of cassettes that comprised almost a whole extra albums worth of material. This original music was part of the 'demo' process used in making 'Stay Hungry'. These tapes were recorded in December 1983 at Nino's studios in Baldwin, Long Island along with all the songs that wound up on the finished album. I completely forgot that these tapes ever existed. The band barely remembered these songs ever being recorded. Most of the songs, upon fresh listening, are shockingly good. Remember, these are demos which means that they are unfinished versions of songs. Maybe some day we will actually fully finish and record some of them if you, the fans, yell loudly enough. Don't ask me why some didn't make the record; the politics of that question are too deep to get into. Suffice it to say, we are proud of this material and, to make the re-release really special, we also recorded our first new song in 10 years — a song called '30'."
Italian news blog Musica Metal uploaded video footage (see below) of TWISTED SISTER performing the song "The Price" (which originally appeared on the "Stay Hungry" album) at the first edition of the Rock Of Ages festival, which was held on September 13, 2008 in Milan, Italy.

If you don't know, it's this new rock supergroup with Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, Chad Smith, and Joe Satriani. All these guys are talented as hell musicians so I'm kinda curious but it definitely raises some interest.
Oh, don't get it twisted. I'm not going out to buy the album when it comes out. I just remember hearing the name of the band and the members involved. A friend/dude at a wedding I went to this past weekend (loves 80s metal stuff like Motley Crue) was asking me if it's something I'd go check out live.
Ummmm....... I don't think so dude.

I bought a radiator for my 54 Chevy from Michael Anthony's (he's a big gearhead) friend's "booth" at a car show in Temecula, CA...about 13 years ago. I asked Michael if he could get me one shaped like a bottle of Jack Daniels.

We have some New York Dolls fans on here, no? Reading my USA TODAY during lunch at work, and I see a review for "new" New York Dolls. Basically singer David Johansen and guitarist Sylvain Sylvain. It got 2 and a half of 4 stars. Says there are a lot of "Rolling Stones references" I guess in the sound. The platter is called "Cause I Sez So."

BIG Dolls fan.
Have seen them, since their reincarnation, many times.
The New York Dolls, for as pioneering as they were to early punk rock, we're essentially a more "over the top" glam/punk version of the Stones. David Johansen "borrows" much of his on-stage persona from Jagger.
But...GREAT, LEGENDARY band nonetheless.
They're just not the same without Johnny Thunders and Jerry Nolan.

ACCEPT Recruits Ex-TT QUICK Singer To Replace UDO DIRKSCHNEIDER - May 15, 2009 Guitarist Wolf Hoffmann and bassist Peter Baltes have recruited Mark Tornillo, former lead singer of the New York/New Jersey metal band TT QUICK, to front the new version of ACCEPT. Tour dates are currently being booked and a new studio album is on the way.
ACCEPT 2009 is:
Wolf Hoffmann: Guitar Peter Baltes: Bass Herman Frank: Guitar Mark Tornillo: Vocals Stefan Schwarzmann: Drums
Two audio samples featuring the new ACCEPT lineup are currently available for streaming/download on the band's web site (taken from a jam session recorded on April 26, 2009 at Shorefire Recording studios in Long Branch, New Jersey):
"Balls To The Wall": Audio Stream, MP3 Download "Flash Rocking Man": Audio Stream, MP3 Download
ACCEPT in 2005 completed a 25th anniversary tour with a touring lineup of original members Udo Dirkschneider (vocals), Wolf Hoffmann and Herman Frank and Peter Baltes, along with Stefan Schwarzmann.
In a 2007 interview with Lords of Metal e-zine Dirkschneider stated about the 25th anniversary trek, "I didn't see it as a reunion. A reunion, to me, is coming back together, getting to rehearsals, doing shows and writing songs together and eventually mak[ing] an album. That wasn't the case with ACCEPT. It was just for the fans and for fun. We had a great time together and shared a lot of drinks and old stories. But, anyway, when we got back together [in 2005], nobody was talking about a new studio album with ACCEPT. Even if you wanted it somewhere deep inside, you still had to wait for a magic moment to let it out. But such a magic moment never came, at least not for me. . . A real reunion, with a new album and a tour to support it . . . means that I have to start writing songs together with Wolf Hoffmann and that would be a problem. You know, it's easy to play the old songs, because they already exist. Especially for me it was easier, because I still do those classics with U.D.O., but for some of the guys it was a bit harder. But everybody did a great job on stage. I understand that people want a new ACCEPT album, but composing songs together would have been a disaster. That way we would destroy more than we would create. We have a good relationship now and it's best to keep it that way."
Speaking to Metal-Rules.com in 2005, Udo said, "I think that after doing all these [reunion] shows [to celebrate ACCEPT's 25th anniversary], [Wolf] was really thinking about doing something more with ACCEPT. The thing is that if he really wanted do something like that, why he never came up during all the shows and say, 'Hey, Udo, I got some new songs, do you wanna hear them?' or something like that. There was nothing. Music-wise, he was maybe thinking something and I was like, this is very hard to explain but I felt inside of me, 'Don't do it, don't do it!!' I think that this was a perfect way finish ACCEPT."
Udo added, "I think [Wolf] did lot of very boring interviews [after we completed the ACCEPT 25th anniversary tour]. When I read [Wolf's comments in the press about a possible new ACCEPT studio album], I was wondering what was coming up from his mind. I mean, when he started doing interviews, he said, 'I have no problem to do ACCEPT but Udo doesn't want to do it. There will be no real reunion because of Udo.' Still, it wasn't too long time ago when he said 'No ACCEPT — I don't wanna do it because I hate that business. I don't wanna be in music business anymore.' . . . I think this is some kind fear of him, you know. I mean, he knew that I was working with U.D.O. and we had a new album coming out and he know what I was thinking all the time. From my side, there wasn't [the possiblity of a full-fledged] reunion at any point and he knew that right from the beginning and now he's changing the story. . . He changed his mind. If he wants to, he can still do ACCEPT but with a different singer. [Laughs.]"
TT QUICK was a popular club band during the 1980s in the New York and New Jersey area and was known for the guitar work of David Dipietro and the powerful vocals of Mark Tornillo. Dipietro's skills were especially singled out as he had given lessons to both Zakk Wylde of the OZZY OSBOURNE band and SKID ROW's Dave Sabo.
TT QUICK disbanded and later reunited sporadically and released a few more albums, including a live CD from one of their reunion gigs ("Thrown Together Live") and a studio effort, "Ink", which came out in 2000

FOZZY: 'Chasing The Grail' Track Listing Revealed - June 12, 2009 FOZZY, the band featuring vocalist Chris Jericho (of WWE wrestling fame) and longtime bandmate/guitarist Rich "The Duke" Ward (STUCK MOJO) alongside bassist Sean Delson (STUCK MOJO), guitar virtuoso and STUCK MOJO guest player Mike Martin and Frank Fontsere (ex-STUCK MOJO) on drums, is putting the finishing touches on its fourth album, "Chasing The Grail", tentatively due before the end of the year.
Commented Jericho: "Well, 'Chasing The Grail' is almost finished and it is gonna blow your minds! It's heavier than anything we've ever done but we've also done some different types of songs that we've never done before, including a ballad and a 13-minute epic rocker that closes the record with a BANG! If you're a FOZZY fan, I guarantee you're going to love it and if you're not a FOZZY fan, prepare to become one!"
"Chasing The Grail" track listing:
01. Under Blackened Skies 02. Martyr No More 03. Watch Me Shine 04. Broken Soul 05. Let The Madness Begin 06. Paraskavedekatriaphobia (Friday The 13th) 07. God Pounds His Nails 08. Pray For Blood 09. Grail 10. Revival 11. New Day's Dawn 12. Wormwood
An audio sample of the demo version of the song "Martyr No More" is available for streaming as part of the new FOZZY podcast, which can be found on the band's MySpace page.
In a recent interview with Australia's PyroMusic.net, Ward stated about the upcoming FOZZY record, "It's one of the best records I've ever written and I'm really fired up about it. . . It's just as heavy, it's probably... well, actually there are moments on the record that are really, really heavy and then there's a couple of moments on the record that are a little more like... There's a couple of rock songs on the new FOZZY album that are similar to [FOZZY's previously released cover of "Eat The Rich"], real kind of AC/DC, barnburner rock 'n' roll songs. So there's a couple of those, and the rest of the album is you know, something you would probably find familiar to stuff we've written in the past. Then there's actually a 14-minute kind of prog epic jam! (laughs) The record's crazy. It's a bizarre record, because it is a culmination of all the things that we've done over the years for FOZZY and also MOJO, 'cause it's obviously the same cast of characters and it's a really good record. I really think "'All That Remains' is a good album, but I actually... and all people say this, 'Oh, this is our best record,'" but there is no doubt! I was laughing with Jericho on the phone last night about how good the record is and we're really... it's just in its demo forms right now, but just listening to the demos, it's pretty funny that we have pretty high confidence in the record. So, it's always fun when the record sounds good in demo forms. 'Cause, you know, if you're doing demos, and you're like, well just imagine if it sounded bigger in the studio. If you don't have to paint the big picture, just the pencil sketchings are good, then you know you've got something good coming. So yeah, I'm happy about it."
FOZZY released "All That Remains… Reloaded" on March 25, 2008 via BCD Music Group distribution. It featured the reissue of the "All That Remains" CD with new artwork and a bonus DVD featuring FOZZY live in front of 20,000 screaming fans in the UK.
FOZZY in 2007 issued a collection of never-before-heard demos, early mixes and instrumental versions taken from guitarist Rich "The Duke" Ward's personal library.
"All That Remains" was originally released in January 2005 via SPV Records. A video for the album's first single, "Enemy", was filmed in San Diego, CA in December 2004 with director/British filmmaker Paul Hough.
"All That Remains" was produced by Rick Beato (SHINEDOWN, CHARLIE MARS, INGRAM HILL) and features guest performances by guitar legends Zakk Wylde (OZZY OSBOURNE, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY), Marty Friedman (ex-MEGADETH), and Mark Tremonti (CREED, ALTER BRIDGE). Gold-record-selling rap artist BONE CRUSHER also makes a special guest appearance on the record.

SLAYER To Perform On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' - Oct. 21, 2009 SLAYER will perform on ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Wednesday, November 4 (which will actually air the morning of Thursday, November 5).
30-second, reduced-quality audio samples of all the tracks that appear on SLAYER's upcoming album, "World Painted Blood", can be streamed on Amazon.fr.
"World Painted Blood" is scheduled for release on November 3 via American Recordings. The CD will initially ship with four special collector's edition covers. Each of the four covers will display one-fourth of a provocative continental map illustrated with human skulls and bones; when placed together, the four images form a complete and grisly map of the world.
All four of the initial CD packages will include a special blood-red, see-through top panel with the map displayed beneath it.
"World Painted Blood" was recorded in Los Angeles over two time periods, during October 2008 and then between late January and March 2009. The CD was produced by Greg Fidelman, who's spent time in the studio with METALLICA, THE GOSSIP, THE (INTERNATIONAL) NOISE CONSPIRACY, SLIPKNOT and others, and executive-produced by longtime SLAYER colleague Rick Rubin, who suggested Fidelman for the project.

GRIM REAPERS' STEVE GRIMMETT Says He Was Being Considered For Singer Position In MAIDEN, PRIEST And SABBATH - Nov. 9, 2009 British heavy metal vocalist Steve Grimmett has told Classic Rock magazine that he nearly joined not one, not two… but three legendary bands. Grimmett, who made his name with GRIM REAPER, ONSLAUGHT and LIONSHEART, said, "When Bruce Dickinson left IRON MAIDEN, I sent them a demo. But never heard anything back from them, and then heard that Blaze Bayley had the job. But a while afterwards, their manager Rod Smallwood told me that I'd made the top five on their short list."
The singer also went for the JUDAS PRIEST gig as the replacement for Rob Halford. "I did get a letter back, thanking me for my interest, but they didn't feel I was quite right for them."
Finally, he was actually being lined up by BLACK SABBATH.
"Drummer Bobby Rondinelli called and asked if I'd like to join the band. I was committed to doing the second LIONSHEART album ('Pride In Tact'), but told him that, if they could wait, then I'd love to do it. But by the time I was ready, the original lineup was back together, so that was out of the window."

I could actually see him being an OK fit with Maiden. Priest? Not so much. And Sabbath had 3,926 people in the band at different times, so who cares?

ACCEPT's New Lineup To Make Its Live Debut In New York City - Feb. 12, 2010 Reformed heavy metal legends ACCEPT will debut their new lineup — featuring the band's latest addition, vocalist Mark Tornillo (ex-TT QUICK) — on May 8 at New York City's Gramercy Theatre.
"We can't wait to go out and play again," said bassist Peter Baltes. "Just because [former ACCEPT singer] Udo Dirkschneider isn't available to take part in the reunion doesn't mean we'll have to sit idle any longer. We feel Mark is the perfect fit. Mark is an experienced veteran singer who is aware of the ACCEPT legacy and his voice fits the sound of ACCEPT perfectly.
"Wolf [Hoffmann, guitar] and I have always been the songwriting team — most of the classic ACCEPT tunes were written that way; together with Deaffy, a.k.a. Gaby Hoffmann, as a lyricist."
ACCEPT has just completed recording its new album at Backstage Studio in Derbyshire, England with acclaimed British producer and SABBAT guitarist Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY, NEVERMORE). The as-yet-untitled CD — which will mark the recording debut of Tornillo — will include around 14 tracks and be released in the spring of 2010 via an as-yet-undetermined record label. Tentative songtitles set to appear on the CD include "The Abyss", "Locked & Loaded", "Shades Of Death", "No Shelter", "Blood Of Nations", "Pandemic" and "Teutonic Terror".
BLABBERMOUTH.NET in December uploaded exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from the recording sessions for the new ACCEPT album. The six-and-a-half-minute clip, which includes interview footage with Sneap and members of the band, as well as audio samples of the group's new material, can be viewed below.
Regarding Tornillo's addition to ACCEPT, Hoffmann previously said, "It all happened in minutes. Peter and I were working on some tunes in a studio in New Jersey. Somebody suggested we give this guy Mark a call to see if he would join us on vocals. So when he arrived we started jamming on some old ACCEPT tunes — just for fun. As soon as Mark started singing we looked at each other and realized the impossible just happened: we found a new voice for ACCEPT! The timing could not have been better! Now or never... We are re-energized and excited..."
TT QUICK disbanded and later reunited sporadically and released a few more albums, including a live CD from one of their reunion gigs ("Thrown Together Live") and a studio effort, "Ink", which came out in 2000.
ACCEPT 2010 is:

OZZY OSBOURNE Planning 'Black Christmas' Album, TV Special - May 18, 2010 According to an article in the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine (Issue 1104 - May 13, 2010), Ozzy Osbourne will release a Christmas album, "Black Christmas", late next year, accompanied by a TV special. Ozzy's wife and manager insisted with a laugh that she'd discussed the idea with him, but "he's trying to forget that it actually exists." The article also reveals that Ozzy will release deluxe 30th-anniversary editions of his first two solo albums — "Blizzard Of Ozz" (1980) and "Diary Of A Madman" (1981) — with their original drum and bass tracks restored (unlike the 2002 reissues of these albums, which saw the replacement of the original bass and drum tracks by Osbourne's then-drummer Mike Bordin and -bassist Robert Trujillo).
Regarding the sound of his new solo album, "Scream", Ozzy told Rolling Stone, You can stay in the Eighties or move on. It's a very heavy record. It's a bit of my SABBATH days. It's a bit of my solo days. It's a bit of the modern day."
The new album and tour will introduce Greek guitarist Gus G. (FIREWIND, DREAM EVIL, ARCH ENEMY). Ozzy parted ways last year with axeman Zakk Wylde, who has played on every Ozzy album and almost every tour since 1988.
Gus played over nearly finished tracks rather than collaborating on songwriting as Wylde did. "It's a fine line, actually, between thinking of the ghosts of past [Ozzy] guitar players and basically not caring at all," said Gus. "I just tried to be myself and have respect for Ozzy's legacy as an artist."
Meanwhile, Ozzy has sold the film rights to his best-selling memoir, "I Am Ozzy". "It has to be a brand new talent playing Ozzy," said Sharon, "because if you go the Val Kilmer/'Doors' way, it becomes too Hollywood."
Ozzy told Rolling Stone he was excited to hit the road and was already thinking about potential set lists. "I've got such a fucking body of work to choose from now," he said. I'd like to do some different SABBATH songs, and some different Ozzy songs." Also under consideration are full performances of the "Blizzard" and "Diary" albums as a way to celebrate their 30th anniversary.

The new Kanye song. This song bumps and he even samples King Crimson. Regardless of what he did to Taylor Swift the dude still brings it and he makes the genre so fresh. I'm looking forward to the new record. I always liked the guy on a musical level.

LOL @ "a salute to fat chicks." BRET MICHAELS' Backing Musicians To Appear On 'Whole Lotta Love' Tribute Album - June 15, 2010 Three additional musicians have been confirmed for the upcoming "Whole Lotta Love: An All-Star Salute To Fat Chicks" tribute album.
Guitarist/vocalist Pete Evick, bassist Ray Scheuring and drummer Chuck Fanslau (collectively known as EVICK) have submitted a new recording of the chart-topping POISON hit "Unskinny Bop".
Despite the fact that the song is not actually about fat girls, its title has led many to presume otherwise. Now, 20 years after reaching No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, "Unskinny Bop" at last lives up to its name by appearing on a tribute to larger ladies.
Evick, Scheuring and Fanslau also form the core of POISON singer Bret Michaels' solo band, touring the country as Bret's handpicked team of backing musicians. They appear in his music videos and on his solo albums, as well as being featured in all three seasons of the runaway hit VH1 reality series "Rock Of Love With Bret Michaels". Naturally, their primary responsibility is ably recreating the many Bret Michaels and POISON classics live on a nightly basis.
"If anyone has earned the right to cover a POISON song, it's us!" states EVICK founder Pete Evick. "We play this one year-round as the BRET MICHAELS BAND, so we know it inside and out. Even though 'Unskinny Bop' has nothing to do with unskinny girls, most people seem to think it does. As such, all it took was a few tweaks to the lyrics to make this song fit the album concept (without changing the heart and soul of the POISON original)."
Earlier this year, Pete appeared along with Bret Michaels on the NBC television program "The Celebrity Apprentice", a competition that Bret ultimately won. Evick also co-wrote the first single from Michaels' new solo album ("Nothing To Lose" featuring Miley Cyrus). Most recently, he was a featured guest on CNN's "Larry King Live" alongside POISON drummer Rikki Rockett, discussing the life-threatening brain hemorrhage suffered by Bret Michaels in April.
As previously reported, "Whole Lotta Love: An All-Star Salute To Fat Chicks" is a musical homage to the big, beautiful women who make the rockin' world go 'round. "Whole Lotta Love" will feature all-new recordings of popular songs praising the fuller female figure, originally made famous by some of the biggest names in rock and pop music. These anthems to abundance will be performed by renowned rock and rollers from yesterday and today, along with a select few rising stars. In direct opposition to the "no-fat-chicks" mantra espoused by some, "Whole Lotta Love" will be a star-studded celebration of large and lovely ladies.
Starting off the salute with a regal flourish is QUEEN's arena rock classic "Fat Bottomed Girls", sung by Phil Lewis of Hollywood warhorse L.A. GUNS. A favorite song from his youth in the U.K., Phil lends an appropriately British flair to this beloved ode to the amply endowed derriere. The track was arranged and produced by Paul LaPlaca (CHRIS CAFFERY, THE GREAT KAT, ZANDELLE), who also contributes lead and rhythm guitar. Keeping the beat is drummer extraordinaire John Macaluso (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, RIOT, TNT), with bass provided by Joey Bones and additional guitars by Robert Sadowski. Also contributing to the CD is CINDERELLA guitarist Jeff LaBar, who appears as part of Tennessee-based rock outfit RUFUS FONTAIN, featuring original JACKYL vocalist Ronnie Honeycutt, guitarist Tim Lewis, bassist Hayden James and drummer Shawn Hughes (NAKED BEGGARS, JOHN CORABI). The five-piece rips through a high-octane version of the AC/DC concert staple "Whole Lotta Rosie", showcasing LaBar's signature guitar tone and Honeycutt's patented Bon Scott rasp.
"Whole Lotta Love: An All-Star Salute To Fat Chicks" is scheduled for an August 31, 2010 release and is now available for pre-order directly from SplitScreen Entertainment. The first 500 pre-orders will receive a free instant digital download of "Fat Bottomed Girls" and a surprise bonus item upon delivery of the album.

MISFITS' JERRY ONLY Sings National Anthem At Seattle's KeyArena - July 4, 2010 Jerry Only, a member of seminal horror-punk band the MISFITS, performed "The Star Spangled Banner" at Seattle's KeyArena on June 5, 2010.
Commented Jerry: "The MISFITS have for a third of a century toured the world representing the United States of America. It was always a dream and now my honor to perform this song."
At the league's season championship bout, Seattle's Rat City Rollergirls set a new modern roller derby attendance record, maxing out the lower bowl of KeyArena with 6,885 tickets sold and over 6,000 people in attendance.
While classic roller derby routinely filled arenas, notably including Madison Square Garden, through its heyday in the 1950s and '60s, audiences of this size are a very new development since the sport's reinvention in Austin, Texas early in the decade, and more recently fueled in part by the film "Whip It".
MISFITS founding member Jerry Only was proud to be on hand to kick off the event by singing the national anthem for the packed house.
