I could have sworn we had one of these. Oh well. So Dale Jr just punted Brian Vickers out of the way cause he's a moron, and he'll get away with it too. Idiot could not even find his pitbox today, Im surprised he didnt try to hit Vickers and miss.
Vickers has actually become my favorite racer. I liked him from when he started appearing on Speeds Monday racing fete, and I got weary of simply supporting also-rans like Michael Waltrip (who became so grating I dont even like him anymore) and David Reutimann, who simply rides around the track but stays out of the mix. I finally found a guy I liked who can run near the top.
Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised to go to the SPEED message board just a few minutes ago to see Dale Jr being absolutely killed on there. Also, a quick perusal of the stories of the day have most of the garage putting this one on his head. The idiot was even whining about the rule penalizing him for encroaching out of his pit, saying its time for that rule to be "reevaluated." He did have a funny comment during a caution later in the race today, telling his crew that if Vickers wanted to meet him in the garage later "to get his ass beat" he was down with the idea.

i missed the race yesterday, and i'm bummed about it
dale jr has only won 1 race in like his last 80 attempts. he shouldn't be bitching about rule changes. he should worry about winning races and getting out of daddy's shadow.

It was a decent race. DVRd it, and being able to skip commercials and just a bit of the banter during cautions made it a 2 hour investment, and not a 5 hour investment. Im still miffed about the Vickers / Dale thing. Vinny, you should have seen Dale whining about the rules and trying to defend his actions. He also had a run-in with Jeff Burton, I believe it was, who approached him during the rain delay to ask him why he was boxing him out like a dillhole.
Get this - we go to dinner at Pumpernickels, the German eatery, and Im like, "at least I wont hear racing spoilers." Well, so not only do they have the race on at that bar area, for the first time we have ever been there we are seated near the bar area. No prob, I cant see the tv from my seat, and the volume is obviously down. Well, some family sits next to us, and the Granddad has a view of the race, and is bellowing about it to his grandson, who could care less. "The race is on!" he says. "Oooh, Jimmie Johnson was taken out.....ah, it was not that bad after all." he goes. "Who are you rooting for? I have not seen his car at all in this race up there" he says.
Who woulda thunk it, racing spoilers at Pumpernickels.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Eh, not much of a soccer presence on here. What can I tell ya. I wont be starting a NASCAR thread either, as much as I would like to.

So Vickers, who I have been touting (and even put his car on top of the board a week ago) nabs the poll for tomorrow evenings California 500. However, an engine change will put him in the back of the field. He's running well, this will be a good year for him.
Two of my other favorite drivers and perennial also-rans will be starting in the top 10, David Reutimann and AJ Allmendinger (who was the fastest of the cars that needed to qualify on speed to make the race)
Race kicks around 6PM Eastern tomorrow, I wont start watching till around 9 so I have no commercials to worry about.

Ive liked him since he came over from the truck series. I even joined a fan thing online which got me some gear, and the Reutimann Racing mousepad housing my mouse right now.

I insist you do that very thing.
I was stoked when Waltrip handpicked Reutimann as the driver of his 3rd car a couple of years back. The team surely stumbled, but Reutimann got a rep as a solid driver, and a good character guy. I would like to see him exit the also-ran status - hes always good for a 26th place or so. But this year he seems to be running quick, getting into the game. It is funny to see some refer to him as sort of a young gun, when he's actually a racing vet getting near on 40.

Bristol today. I'll be watching tonight as Dana watches Twilight downstairs. I enjoy DVRing these things and watching them in half the times, as NASCAR broadcasts are pretty much half commercials.

So Danica is going to do it, or work towards it. While continuing to ride Indy next year, she is also going to run some select NASCAR Nationwide series races, and even some truck races. In all this she will be in cahoots and working with Tony Stewart. All to prep for a possible NASCAR career.
