I have chatted some in the past about my own quirky supersitions... like never having Yankees on my fantasy team, so as not to jinx their performance on the field & never EVER bench Ted Lilly... but today I find myself in a unique bind. Anyone else in another league? Dave had me in the wings, ready to draft if needed, for his buddy Sean's league. Different crowd, different format & a chance to show up the significant other, so why not I also get a good laugh out of the explanation of rules... Sean never says "It's that way because it's MY league, because I said so or because that's the way it's always been and THERE WILL BE NO RULE CHANGES." Sean says "Dave Brown's brother is the smartest guy I know & he made these rules/scoring system, so that's they way we will do it." He is not referring to TJ. Anyway, my other league is head-to-head & I'm going aganst Dave this week. We've been neck & neck all week. Today he has 2 starters going: Santana & Buehrle; I have 1, Gil Meche. In our league, I have 2 starters going today: Santana & Buehrle. Ordinarily, I'd be pulling for Meche to 8 shutout innings with a bunch of Ks for a no decision & hoping for Soria to put up a nice blown save, loss... which would be helpful with Soria being a member of Dave's bullpen... Who the frick am I supposed to root for? ?

Why root for anyone? I never understood this argument, or "connundrum" or whatever you want to call it. What happens on the field has nothing to do with you. Just set your lineup, and whatever happens friggin' happens.

I understand the dilemma. While yes, things are going to happen whether you "root" or not (kind of like real sports), that doesn't mean it doesn't present a problem.
I am in other leagues as well, but as far as who I root for, well....this league is worth the big money. So I want my team in this league to succeed above all else. Wouldn't change how I manage, of course, but I'll root for my team in this league first.
