The biggest professional regret I have is not continuing my career in the art industry. I spent a good chunk of the 90s working for a couple of different painting / poster / framing entities, including one that at the time was located 500 feet to the left of the desk i am in now, these past 9 years in telcom.
I enjoyed selling the stuff, cataloging it, all that. Grew to appreciate a good amount. Ended up taking a lot home, and my chintzy apartment walls would have classic nudes hanging up next to Danzig and Manowar posters, and New York Post Yankee back-pages.
I especially enjoyed paintings of landscapes. Hated modern stuff, hated a lot of the Spanish artists who would paint nothing but men and women sitting in sand around jugs. Hated Warhol and the like, enjoyed Delacroix. Heres my favorite piece of art right here, for no discernable reason (although the girl - hopefully of age - is pretty bangin')
Piece is from Pierre-August Cot, French (1837-1883). Was happy to see this old friend in the Met last week. Fact I had never been to the Met in my 40 years is simply a travesty. And as mad as the French get me sometimes, I enjoy French artists.
So, this said, anyone here like art. Post us pics of your favorite artwork. Of coruse I now expect to see a heap of album covers or bad JJ Walker paintings from Good Times, cause no one can take anything seriously anymore.
I will be posting art here, as time goes on, from stuff I remember, used to have hanging, or would like to hang on my walls now. We keep saying we are going to get some art for our walls, and keep pushing it off.
