I say everyone sets up a Twitter account. Say hey for constant status updates! Pink was in Australia holding a baby wombat yesterday, and Baloo slept too much last night and is now very tired. www.twitter.com/sherifftom

twitter.com/joetee316I was thinking about making this thread the other day too. I also want to hear reccommendations on certain people that are funny to follow. I urge you all to check out Ron Artest and Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson. They are both too funny. Tom - I notice you follow Chris Jericho. Is he any good?

Jericho is totally worth the time. A cool thing you can do is click on a guy and go to his page, and read through a heap of Tweets. Jericho will go from talking old school hair-metal, to commenting backstage on a match he just finished with Mysterio. Hes also good for the late-night "having an egg sandwich at a gas station" Tweet.
Comic Brian Poesehn, who dabbles with metal, has good music posts, and clever remarks like, "I am glad the band Three Doors Down does not LIVE Three Doors Down." Ill have more recommendations when I go through again.
A cool thing is the Twitter app for Blackberries, where with a quick push of a key all the Twitters scroll up from the last time I checked, complete with profile pic and such.

Liz, you dont have a smartphone? I can add someone from viewing them on the Blackberry.
Another good thing about Twitter is real-time updates. I follow Nascar races from people on Twitter, and followed the baseball and hockey draft that way during the later rounds. I also follow people who real-time update wrestling PPVs.

I had to downgrade from my Blackberry when I was on disability but plan on going back to one in a few weeks.
I think the real time updates for various items (news, sports, etc.) are one of the best things about Twitter.

Well, you can access it straight from the web, which I would imagine most do. But you can download apps for your phone, that get you right on there. Let me know if you get involved, and want a recommendation for one.

It encourages more status updates. You can have more fun with it. Nothing more annoying than someone who updates their Facebook status hourly, elbowing their way into your regular series of updates. On Twitter, you choose who you follow, and the short bursts and concentration on status updates is more amusing.
Honest, I hated the whole idea of Twitter when it was explained to me, and laughed it off. Now I think its brilliant.

How does Twitter work? Send updates to your cel phone? You could have updates sent to your cell phone but you will want to be selected on which updates you want sent to you. Not selecting a contact or contacts will mean that you're getting everybody's update and that will kill your text plan. Here's an article that scratches the surface on Twitter. libn.com/blog/2009/07/01/is-twitter-the-news-outlet-for-the-21st-century/

last night i was checking it often for the start time of the game. it did it's job.
i've found that i started to follow some people (both real and celebrity) and wound up un-following them because of the amount of tweets. if you post back to back to back to back to back you are getting the boot from my list

Not selecting a contact or contacts will mean that you're getting everybody's update and that will kill your text plan. Dont misunderstand me....no way I would want any Tweets coming to my phone, per se....I dont need updates in that fashion. I am talking about Twitter as an APPLICATION that you click as if you are going to a website, and the new Tweets then show up and come in scroll fashion. I would not be "alerted" to a Tweet from family, friend, or the Lord. Hell no. I am talking about a quick app that lets you browse easier, and is cleaner / easier to navigate than going to www.twitter.com

I use Ubertwitter. Not sure if that is only for Blackberries. I cant recommend it enough.
I too have de-followed people who cant shut up. At the same time, there are some constant Tweeters out there who are funny as Hell that I am sticking with for now. The fun part of my Ubertwitter app is that after a few hours when I click in, it leaves me off at the last one I read and I just scroll up through what came in since.

Anybody check out the "suggester user" tab? Some guys cat keeps coming up whenever I go there. Why the hell would I want to follow the cat of some guy that I don't even know?
I will follow Ashton, Demi & Ashlee before I follow that cat.

My recent favorite Twitter post - from "yesmichaelkay" which is obviously a Michael Kay spoofer having a ball of it -
"Hey fans! Just installed new lighting in my pad - track lighting. Thats right folks! Track lighting, on the wall, looking up...See ya!"

JamesD86, I had created one a while ago and totally forgot I had one until I went to create one and it said my email was already used. Anyway the only people I follow now are Opie from O and A and Dana White.
I'll suck for a while until I can find my cable for my phone to upload pics so, just a fair warning it'll be just me bitching about shit.

I had never been able to do it when I was using Twitterberry on my Blackberry. Well, Twitterberry pooped the bed, and I switched to Ubertwitter. And with that, I have been able to upload pictures. The rest of the interface is pretty much the same. But I have had no error issues, and while it takes a while to upload the pics, at least they are uploading.
Switch to Ubertwitter.
