While this thread is dedicated of course to the current session, the true story right now is the tightest race for the top spot in years. How fitting is it that the race is between the two biggest rivals in the league. Two teams that just don't like each other, Tom and Larry, are fighting it out tooth and nail for that top prize. Larry is trying to win his second title, and Tom, the only original player never to win the league outright, is desperately trying to show that he is not the Chicago Cubs of fantasy baseball. Of course, the Cubs did win the World Series in 1908. Tom was there. To make a point about how terrible Tom's failure to win the whole thing has been, even KNOBLAUCH has won this league twice. KNOBLAUCH! Failure to win the league is a monkey on Tom's back, and this season could be his best chance ever. Bragging rights are on the line.
Less than 4 weeks to go, and these 2 teams are separated by just 38 points.
Meanwhile, Justin, who had been hanging around all season, picked the wrong time to have a Popsian start to the session.

And I picked the wrong time to lose Michael Young for two weeks and Carlos Pena for the season. Oh, well, shit happens. It would have taken a red-hot last couple of weeks to get into the top three, anyway. And every team deals with injuries. But minus Young and Pena, I don't see this run happening.

Lets not even start spinnin the yarns of our foibles, Nettles. If I had Brandon Webb all year, Id be winning this league by 100 points. If I did not lose Huston Street for the entire week last week, I would have won the session, and maybe would have been up there with Larry. Friggin Ibanez got me SIX points last week....he topped that last night alone, I think!
Lets play the game. But yeah, you are slowly losing your shot at a run.

really tom, enough about brandon webb. my #1 pick grady sizemore had an injury riddled season where i played him for maybe a total of 8 weeks. it happens to every team some worse then others. somehow ive managed to hold 1st place everyday since the all star break. if i get taken over by tom, he will make it be known that i "choked". hardly. i dont think my lead has ever been more then 200 points the last 7 weeks. this is the type of shit that makes it bittersweet to even be in this league. i cant wait to make tom cry in early october.......

Why would I say that the guy who has ran the table all year "choked?" Maybe Balls will do that, not me. It will be simply a case of the best team in the league overtaking yours.
You are already planning for me to take over first, I see.
No, I would not see this as a choke, but thanks for trying to put words in my mouth.

Another day, and Tom once again chips away at Larry's lead. Less than 20 points now separate the two teams. What will happen next?

A- i have not run the table the whole year. you would think the guy whose league it is would know this. justin ran the table on this league the first half of the season but since you were sitting down in like 8th place i guess you dont remember that. just another reason why people who are in this league dont even pay attention. if you dont beleieve that, go look at rosters. there is a team that has had a releiver playing in a SP spot. for like a month!!!! helloooooooo autopilot!!!! B- i wont take the time to look around, it may have been in email or text, but you stated very recently, thats its only a matter of time that i choke away the lead to you? choke away? choke away nigga? instead of lauding me for being a pivotal part in this crazy race, you put my shit down. typical tom malarky. C- way to steal my astros victory last night you tool. unbeleivable. you should play lotto cause everything you have touched this fantasy season has turned to absolute gold. and im still in the lead.......

The lead has been whittled down to just 17 points. But the momentum is all Tom's. It would take a string of losses to prevent Tom from taking over this week.

Its funny to see Larry falling apart - not just league-wise, but mentally. Hes becoming seriously unbalanced here with his rants. Funny how he enjoyed shooting at me when I was 300 points behind him (or even like, 4 days ago when I was over 130) but now he's running on his heels.
Here's where he may have problems. Today he has 3 batters eligible to play, I have 7, on this slow gameday.
Then tomorrow, with all his SPs burned, I have my turn at filling the slots, with Cain, Josh Johnson, and Hamels due to throw. Ill have the lead by the weekend, I would imagine.
Lets recap, cause Balls does not do it. Larry had FOUR starters going last night, and I outscored him by 4 points with just 1 throwing. He had a shot at making up ground (and he did his share, he got over 70 points) but I was right there.

how about being concerned about "recaps" when you are in 10th place and sucking serious dick. the only time you want "recaps" is when toms team is doing good. that makes for not a very fun environment for anyone else but tom.

hey tom. way to have a league that no one cares about. even its members. i mean seriously. a fantasy baseball league for bleacher creatures is so money its not even funny. but tom has run this thing into the ground. you have a 4 way for the top prize and the people up for the prize dont even care. could you have run this into the ground anymore tom?
overtake me today, tommorrow or never. its all the same, you still destroyed a very cool fantasy league with your rants and your dictatorship style. congratulations on nothing.

Yeah, and if I had Brandon Webb Id be winning by 200 points.
As to Pujols, reason I drafted him when I did!
I will admit to becoming frustrated that I have not been able to seal the deal. I get within 30, and a couple of days later you have me by 100 again. Now Im closer than ever, it would be my luck to blow it.
Ill let the people who bother to visit the board in on a secret - next year we will be doing what I wanted to do this year, clearing the decks. At least 3 people will be leaving our league and maybe more, and new blood is coming in, cause you are right - this league sucks.
That said, those who are involved - Larry, Justin, Walkman John - you'll like whats planned. We'll talk.

Another day, and Tom once again inches closer to the lead without taking it. But the feeling of inevitability still permeates throughout the league.

Especially cause I got 3 starting pitchers going tonight, and Larry is done for this weekend in regards to his SPs.
Tonight should be the night, I say that with confidence.

Today he has 3 batters eligible to play, I have 7, on this slow gameday. terrible recap by fuckin balls and tom yesterday. how can you fail to mention that with a HUGE advantage of 7 hitters to 3 hitters, you ONLY gained 6 points? thats a big blown opportunity my portly friend.

Tom has taken the lead, and all the momentum is in his corner. Larry has 2 starters going tonight. Tom has zero. Will that be enough for Larry to regain the lead? Or is Larry done?

Yeah, but after tonight Larry is going to have to sit back in the next couple when i pick up 2 extra starts on him. It all comes back.
Loving my shots at the first prize.

Larry's 2 starters put up a fight, and Tom's lead is down to 6 points. In theory, Larry should regain the lead tonight, since he has 2 starters to Tom's 1. However, that would mean that Larry had 4 starters in 2 days--and is shooting his load.
Cliff Lee v. the Nationals? Sounds like a recipe for points for Tom.
Meanwhile, Jose is winning the session.

Im in a good spot, cause after tonight, After my "one starter tonight" I have 3 pitchers lined up in the next two days (Cain, Johnson, Hamels) and Larry is done until just before the weekend when he squibs out a couple of extra starts from his also-rans (and i have one too)
So the advantage on paper is all mine. He also has one of his guys going against our Yankees tonight, and that usually does not bode well.

tom, the advantage always seems to be yours and you still havent won squat in your own leage for 9 years now, so what does that tell you. and balls, my team cant do a fucking thing to get recognition this year. i wonder when you pay me the $1,000 if either of you will give me a bit of credit at that point.
and LOL at my pitcher going against the yankees and that not boding well for me. ooooooo, the big bad yankees. yea, doc just shut them out with a CG performance like 2 weeks ago.
you and balls created a msg board to stroke each other off and i see your marriage is as gay and happy as ever in that respect. balls, go swallow now.

the advantage is not all yours because i will have more starts to go at the end of the session, that you WONT have. so yes, i will catch up on starts. so lets just let the pitchers pitch and see what happens when the smoke clears instead of declaring me dead (while sitting a whole 6 points out with approximately the same number of starts before the session is up) because toms pitchers will pitch before mine this weekend. you two clowns can slant everything toms way. what a joke.
i cant wait to get that $1,000. tom cant even hold onto 1st for a week. lol.

Oh don't worry--if you win, you will get your props, as you always have. I don't know who I want to win this league. I just hope whoever finishes in first is a sore winner. This league is in need of someone that will smugly rub his victory in the faces of those he beat.
We have three guys on top right now that are all quite capable of being that arrogant winner. I just hope I am not disappointed.

Come on now--no one is sucking Tom's penis. It's physically impossible. Tom is like the Chicago Cubs. When a team can't win a championship, or a game, I always root against them. Fear not, no matter who wins, you're all losers to me!
