Larry, you wont have extra starts at the end of the session, believe me, cause my guys will be coming around again this weekend and late next week. Trust me, I did math, I have a couple of extra starts over you.
Hey, no matter - I caught you over the last few weeks cause my team is simply better. Not long ago you were 300 over me. A week and a half ago, you were up by 130. Now I am up by 6. I have all the momentum, even YOU can admit that. Its nice to have momentum with less than 3 weeks to go.
Balls gives me no credit. And he is simply giving news, that I am fighting for my first title here.

Cliff Lee's performance was big last night for Tom as he expands his lead.

yes, and I did that with Larry done for a couple of days, and me having THREE starters going in that time. (Cain and Josh Johnson tonight, Cole Hamels tomorrow against the same Nats team Lee shut out)
Larry had TWO guys going yesterday to my Cliff Lee, and I pushed points on him.
Now its time for me to make hay.

maybe balls should just give you the $1,000 now since no one has a chance to catch you and your magnificient run in first place for a whole 4 days.

Yeah, and in 10 days it will be a run of 14 days.
By the way, way for Zito to get you 26 on your bench yesterday. Im sure you're kicking yourself for giving him the pull.

an even worse comment was the one where you told me that i would be really mad if burnett had a good start when wandy blew the win in the great game he pitched on monday. yea, like anyone in their right mind would pitch aj over wandy. you are so clueless. no wonder why you havent won shit for 8 years in this league.

Larry, stop playing stupid. You and I already discussed this before. And my comment on Burnett applied to replacing him for PRICE, which you admitted to me was your move. Never once did Wandy come up. Stop twisting my words.
I also know why Zito was pulled, but you dance with who bought you....you pull your top starters to try and get extra starts, you will end up burned. Lets see if two combined starts from Penny or Price get you more than that 26 you got from Zito in one.
Yeah, Im so clueles Im going to win $1000 in less than a month.

It's really starting to look like Tom's ugly mug will be gracing the top of this section. Meanwhile, Pops' farewell tour continues, as he gets exactly ONE point last night.

I still get a shot at padding the lead as I have Cole Hamels tossing against the lowly Nats tonight, the same team Cliff Lee shut out a couple of days ago.
Last night was quite a ride...
I had a padded lead of what I ended up with, with Larry set up for TWO saves just after midnight. Would have cut this lead by 20. David Aardsma did his share, saving the Mariners game, scoring Larry some points. Now it was up to F-Rod and the Mutts. 4 out save, 5-4 lead against the Braves.
And the Mets lose! F-Rod blows the lead, with help from a HORRIBLE ERROR by David Murphy in the 9th, that may end up costing Larry serious change! At worst, they should have got out tied. But Murphy let a ball get between him and the line earlier in the inning, and then ended the game on a Buckner-esque goofy error.
I am glad I was not Larry watching that, or stuff would have been broken.

Heres another "fun fact" as we run towards the end of this show.
Larry put in David Price this week for the extra start. I cant kill him for that, he needs to pull out all the stops. But I would not have pulled Barry Zito, for example (2.34 ERA in his last 11 starts since the all-star break, never giving up more than 3 runs in a game in that span) for example. Dance with who bought ya!
Anyway, he got a win out of Price this week, but that second start.....NOT HAPPENING. Price is not set to pitch until Sunday now.
Zito got Larry 26 points in his one start this week, 8 more than Price did - and AJ Burnett is slated to throw tomorrow and due for a good performance.
Could have been worse for me.

i pulled burnett and zito for price and penny because my hitting has gone dormant in september. i need to make up those points somewhere. penny with his 2 starts actually replaced zito because there is no way i was throwing 2 san fran pitchers with their lack of offense. im sure tom appreciates that owning matt cain. then i pulled burnett and his horrible last 6 weeks for 2 starts out of price. cant kill me there. aj is like 1-6 in his last 8 starts. the worst i would do with price should be 1-1 since he had 1 road game 1 home game. he actually won the road game so i was out of the woods. until he got pushed back. tom, you are getting all the breaks this year. dont trip on your way to the top. im still on your heals!!!!
acknowledgment goes to tom on his pick up of that minnesota releiver who was recently stretched out to be a starter and who netted tom so serious ass points on sunday. incredible. takes balls to go against your horses and bench a guy like derek lowe. sometimes it works, sometimes it dont. give me props for showing the balls to try to take tom down and out of 1st instead of being conservative and trying to just hold on and preserve 2nd place. fuck that. im going for it all so second guess away!!!!

Larry, no way I am killing on you for what you did. You do have an extra start out of Penny, which combined with his last win may very well top Zito's performance. When you made the move, we both assumed Price had 2 starts, but for whatever reason you got the shaft there. PS - I would have pulled Burnett too....probably earlier than you did. Now watch him go out and pitch a gem on the left coast!
So while I dont think you made "stupid moves" they did not turn out as you hoped / planned. I am riding hot right now.
As to the Minny guy, I get another start from him tonight....so I have a shot to pad up again. I had been a little dissapointed with Lowe since I bought him in, I think he got me a couple of more wins than losses, but he does not go deep, and there is never a shot of a complete game / 40 point performance from him. Im tired of wins that get me 16 points.
You are a real pain in the ass, I wish we were closer to the end and I did not have you lurking behind me. Id say good luck the rest of the way, but why would I say that.

Tom has now opened up an 80 point lead in the overalls, so until Larry does something to make it closer, the excitement level just isn't what it was earlier in the week.
Back to session coverage. Tom's team sure is having a good week. The session is going to be between Tom and Jose.

I would like to win another session. It would be disconcerting to win this entire league, while taking only 1 session. And I still have a bad taste in my mouth from when all I needed was 12 points from Cliff Lee to win a session a few weeks ago, and he got me -12 instead.
I can open up even more points on Larry tonight if Deunsing has a good game. Larry's starters are burned till Sunday.

Ok, after Friday night I am 88 points ahead of Larry for the overall. That sounds good, but Im sorta glum.
Im going to finish 2nd for a session yet again! Im tired of this. Grrrr. I got Jose with one day to go, by 27. But he has 2 pitchers going - including that pain in the ass Carpenter, and Im burnt. He'll get me.
Oh well.

Tom squeaks by and wins the session. The win is significant. If Tom finishes in second place or higher, he will be in the black lifetime.
While Tom rising to the top is indeed impressive, let's not forget that Larry had a shit session. It was his game to win, but his team let him down.
Larry's team is one of the teams to watch in the final stretch. Justin is just 54 points behind him. Could Larry end up in THIRD? Or will he rebound and make a final run at the top spot?

Nice of my team to limp to the finish line like the 2007-08 New York Mutts.

Funny aside to yesterday's naildown by me. I scored all of SEVEN points. With that putrid performance (which included a negative 8 from Marmol) Jose needed to nail 37 points (with two starters going)
And he would have, even with a shaky performance by Ricky Romero. He had 8 SHUTOUT INNINGS from Carpenter, and only lost the session because of a BLOWN SAVE. Ryan Franklin cost Jose 12 points, and a win. Also, he had Florida's closer, Nunez, who for some reason was not bought in to save a 2-1 game (save went to someone else)
So I lucked out. If Cliff Lee did not give me a negative night a few weeks ago, I would have won my THIRD session. Score one for me in consistency.
Nettles, way to drop out of the money!
