I don't know where that data is coming from but I see he popped out or fouled out to an infielder 3 times.

Well, I trust your stats John...but the data came from Michael Kay/David Cone.
Still...3? Pretty low. But then again, maybe that's a typical number for less power/more contact hitters.

I took a look at all hitters who had 150+ hits this past season and summed up their pop-out/foul-out to all infielders.
Here are the guys with 3 or less:
Michael Bourn 2 Joe Mauer 2 Joey Votto 2 Ryan Howard 2 Derek Jeter 3 Asdrubal Cabrera 3 Denard Span 3

I don't think anyone needs to "defend" Jeter. I think his first ballot HOF resume does that quite nicely.
