lol @ cliff lee getting a sure win taken away by a rain delay. hows that feel tom? if you lose by 10 points, you can blame it on the rain (instead of brandon webb)

Well, things could surely be worse. I wont lie and claim Im not grumpy about that. But, in the end, with 1 pitcher jerked by weather and 1 pitcher totally spanked, the fact I only lost 20 points to you on the day, with 3 pitchers all throwing good games, is ok by me.

Wow, did Larrys starters really crap the bed to start off his week. In FIVE starts, over two days, he walks away with under 20 points from his starting pitchers.
Now its my turn, I have Johnson and Cain Tuesday, and Cole Hamels Wednesday. He had a chance to make a real run over the last couple of days, and got no help from his starting arms.
Its not over, by any means, but WOW did I dodge a bullet.

Tom pretty much said it all. He has a 45 point lead, but is poised to expand that if his pitching holds.

That has to be deflating, to have FIVE starters go, and walk out with 20 points. Now its my turn to not fumble this handoff.
PS - way for Justin to step it up.

Well, thats not what I needed.....judging by our starters this week, looks like no one wants to win this thing - Larry and I have had NINE starts, good for a total of around 20 or less points, with Cains -13 or whatever the fuck he got.
Larry had some good starts with no wins with them, I had a sure win delayed by rain, losing my pitcher, and I got shelled tonight.
This is ridiculous. I am praying that Hamels puts me back on track.

Tom's report is quite accurate. Despite having 2 starters going to Larry's zero, Tom manages to lose 24 points off his lead. With under 2 weeks to go in the season, just 21 points separate the top 2 teams. This is shaping up to be the most exciting race to the top spot in a few years. Remember, this session is also one day longer than all the others. Speaking of the session--pretty good start as plenty of people are in it that haven't been in awhile. Suzy--135 John--134 Larry--129 Pops--129 Jose--128 Nettles--120 Justin--112 Knoblauch--111 Neil--93 Evan--87 Tom--78 Laura--58

In what could be a league costing mistake, Larry left AJ Burnett on his bench, and 22 points off his score. Can't really kill him on it though given Burnett's inconsistencies in recent weeks. But still, that has to hurt.
Tom didn't get much out of Hamels, but he got a save and gained 18 points on Larry to extend his lead.

Well, I WOULD HAVE got a good deal more out of Hamels - 12 more points - had Brad Lidge not blown yet another save. Thats 11 on the year, and a few of them have hurt me bad.
I did what I had to do last night, not my fault Lidge sucks.

In case anyone is wondering, twice before, the top 2 teams have finished within 100 points of each other. In 2004, Justin beat Capone by 61 points. Our closest race ever was 2006, when Jose edged out Pops by just 33 points.
Tom currently holds a 45 point lead over Larry, and that lead is climbing.
Tom's pattern of just getting a small amount of points more than Larry is continuing, as the man with the gut of leisure bested the man with the big nose by 6 points last night.
Kudos to Pops for actually doing something he hasn't done in months--having a respectable session. Not winning of course, but at least he doesn't have 45 points through day 5.
Nettles--243 Jose--233 Knoblauch--203 Larry--185 Pops--181 John--177 Suzy--177 Justin--175 Tom--158 Neil--155 Evan--128

let me give you guys a REAL update since msb is busy sucking toms balls and tom is busy sucking his own balls. tom has missed huge opportunities to expand his lead and he has pretty much blown all his pitching. i have 4 starts before the week ends tommorrow and i am only 50 points out of 1st place. that number grew by a whole 6 points yesterday and 18 the day before, but tom has been blowing his pitching. mine is intact and ready to throw today and tommorrow. watch out for an overhaul at #1 very soon. and i love how balls and tom sleep on justin. justin is less then 100 points behind tom, lurking in 3rd place, ready to make a move. his pitching is getting hot and should lead to an unbeleivalbe 3 way finish for me, tom and justin.
i love how msb rides me for benching aj burnett, but says nothing about tom leaving derek lowe and duensing (on the twins) on the bench in favor of paul malholm. how did that work out for him? how about his decision to start erick aybar over miguel tejeda this week. whats aybar got for you this week? 3 points? nice move, you dunce. thankfully you have msb wrapped around your finger so he wont give us "true" updates to make you look bad. we could all celebrate today though, because i told the league the REAL story.
i love my chances. toms team is falling apart at the seams

While you have 4 starters going, I have 2.
Your pitching has not exactly set the world on fire this week, you got under 20 points for your first 5 starts this week. And now those guys come around again. Im not concerned. Whats going to happen next week, when my pitchers will have a numbers game advantage? It all adds out.
As to Maholm for Lowe / Duensing....Lowe and Duensing did nothing of note this week. Maholm has a SECOND start this week. That is why I did that, you know all about it, cause you keep doing the same thing. At least Lowe or Duensing did not get a 22 while on my bench, like Burnett did for you, and Penny did a few days ago as well.
I put Tejada on the bench cause Cecil Cooper had flat out said that he was going to sit 2 of every 4 games going into last weekend. Then he got fired. Would you leave a guy in the lineup that was only going to play half the week?

Again, no one is sucking Tom's balls. With his gut being what it is, such a task would be physically impossible. I would think one would need rollers, hooks, pullies, and various other contraptions that would be far more trouble than it's worth.
Unfortunately, the season doesn't end with this week, meaning that both of you still have starts going.
As for Justin, his team has not made a move in weeks. Statistically, it's possible of course, and I actually think it would be funny if he beats you both by 1 point on the last day because someone on his normal bench gets a walk.

since msb and tom SURELY wont give anyone a saturday morning update, i will. doc halladay pitched a complete game shutout last night. jake peavy pitched 7 innings of no run baseball. i am now in first by 3 points over tom. justin is only about 60 points behind tom. what a race! i have 3 pitchers going today and tom only has 1. i am about to expand my lead. a lead with only 9 days left to go. tom has coughed it up. how appropriate!!!

Yes, you are pretty much a one run team. Without Halladays 9 complete games, you'd probably be in 5th.
Justin is not only 60 behind me, but hes 60 behind you.
As to pitchers, I have 3 going tomorrow. Ill be fine.
If anyone coughed up, its you. 250 ahead of me a couple of months ago, 130 ahead of me less than a month ago. Leading me all year, until the last 2 weeks. So, if anyone coughs this one up, its all you. Im really not worried, things are settling into place for me after a bad week of ball.

hmmm. apparently with only one week left tom and fucking balls dont think its too important to update you all on this terrific 3 way race for the championship so please let me do the honors. i had a bit of a dud of a night with my 3 starters going, but i was still able to tack on points to my lead in the overalls. i am now 26 points ahead of tom and 101 points ahead of justin with only 8 days of baseball left. me, tom and justin all have 2 starters going on sunday. stay tuned to see if tom has given up first place for good with a little over a week left. or if justin could slide in there with less then a week to go to steal the league. or if i could hold this small lead after leading through much of the second half. it will all unfold in 8 short days. tom is sweating his little msballs off.

Indeed it is. And things are starting to shuffle into my favor. Monday i have Cole Hamels pitching, Larry has no arms loaded up. Also, Josh Johnson - who was supposed to have started on Sunday, was felled by the flu, so I still have him up and due. Early hope out of Florida is for him to throw Tuesday, and one more time to wrap the season on Sunday.
Justin is less of a factor now, Im not concerning myself with him, no matter how much Larry tries to steer things that way.
Despite all of Larrys bluster, I am content.

Well, Balls is obviously taking the Jewish holiday off (although that did not stop him from jumping on to change the board header) so here is the news you need to know.
Screw the session, we are talking the fight for the big bills here.
Larry is leading me.....by 6 points. To go deeper, I have Cole Hamels pitching tonight at home, while Larry watches. Could be interesting.
Justin is hanging around in 3rd, 111 points out of the lead.

So Tom has really done a good job choking in the final session, blowing a 72 point lead in the overalls.
Great -5 by Hamels last night.
Meanwhile, Nettles, who had a vice grip on 4th place for a good 3 months or so, has made way for Walkman John, who is threatening to have his best finish ever.
John--404 Larry--384 Nettles--365 Pops--364 Knoblauch--355 Jose--334 Justin--303 Evan--291 Tom--288 Suzy--284 Neil--276 Laura--219

since i mustve pissed in msb's cheerios this weekend, let me elaborate on this phenomenal race we are in. speaking of tom, i wonder why he isnt so chirpy anymore? maybe because his big advantage yesterday blew up in his face. baaaaaahhahahahahahahhaha.
in case you great fans didnt know by the shoddy report after a 4 day hiatus, i am in first place in the overalls with just 6 days to go. i have a 22 point lead on tom, but any advantages he has tried to lead you all to beleive are gone. his hitting must start helping out quick or else he is bound to sink soon. this because he doesnt have any pitching advantages over anyone right now. and he has lost his lead for going on 4 days now. ouch.
so i am in first with a 22 point lead over tom and a 133 point lead over justin. we all have 1 pitcher on the hill tonight. i have aj burnett, tom has josh johnson and justin has felix hernandez. cheers to another fun night of fantasy baseball for the 3 of us.

I have not lost my lead going on 4 days now. In case you forgot, the other day when you had TWO pitchers going I managed to jump ahead almost 15 points to close within 10. Enough with the revisionist history.
Your pitching has been pretty much crap as well.
Im not concerned with this definition of choking a 70 point lead, cause if you all remember, a couple of weeks ago I made up 130 points and passed Larry in 2 days. That was more a choke. This one had been Larrys to win for a while - he ran this league for a couple of months. I am making a strong showing, and still have outscored the entire league since the beginning of August, Im sure.
Im not really too worried, while i dont have a pitching "advantage" per se, I have some very good arms representing my team the next few days and would stack them against Larrys and Justins anytime.

Enough with the revisionist history. quit your fucking lying already. you lost your lead on friday or saturday morning and have never regained it. i dont care if i had TEN pitchers going on sunday and you still gained points, you have NOT sniffed first place in 5 days, and will likely never sniff it again this year. remember, monday night, you had 1 pitcher going and i had none. and i gained 18 points on you. wooooo hooo. that doesnt prove shit. but you were still in 2nd the last 5 days. get used to it.

Thanks to Robinson Cano, AJ Burnett did not lose yesterday, which gained Larry 5 points, and another day where he gains ground on Tom.
Tom hasn't done poorly enough to call this a collapse, but in the final session of the year, he has come up small. While Larry is moving along in second place in the session, Tom has blown 98 points in the last week and a half.
But we still have a hell of a race. 27 points separate the top 2 teams.
And Nettles is winning the session now. One day after losing 4th place, he takes it back with authority.
Nettles--446 Larry--425 Knoblauch--425 John--419 Pops--409 Jose--405 Justin--348 Tom--327 Suzy--317 Neil--317 Evan--306 Laura--275
