Bobby Valentine returning to Mets? By Mark Miller
Back in 1999, when Bobby Valentine was managing the New York Mets, he got himself thrown out of a game protesting a call against Mike Piazza(notes). He went into the locker room and got himself some glasses and a fake mustache and headed back to the dugout, where he tried to hide himself in the shadows. He got himself a $10,000 fine and three-game suspension.
Well, Valentine isn't hiding now. After years and years as a manager in Japan, he's now returning to America to be an analyst for ESPN and says he wouldn't rule out being a manager for the Mets if the team's owners, the Wilpon family, ever asked him to do it again, according to the New York Post.
Anything has got to be better than what the Mets have done this season. "I followed it from afar, and I have some friends there that I've shared tears with because I think it's been a tragedy," Valentine said in a conference call.
