Hey!
Let me say this, that Tigers / Twins tilt last night was the greatest non-Yankee baseball affair I have ever seen. And thats not homer talk, its just the Yankees have had so many legendary ballgames. But man, last nights game was high drama.
Missed a fair deal of it, lots of the time in the car doing family business, but settled in for the last heap of innings, and caught almost all the rest on the radio in the car.
What a game! Everything continues to break right for the Twins. Too many Yankee fans are laughing them off, but you dont win, what, 18 of 22? - by mistake.
Duensing goes tonight. Yankees beat him up a bit this year in a relief stint, but we all know how the Yankees handle these unknown lefty arms. But thats all for the Yankees thread.
Playoff baseball! Talk it here!

The worst team in baseball can beat the best team in baseball on any given night, and there are few things more dangerous than a hot team going into October. A hot team can beat anyone.
So taking the Twins lightly would be a mistake.
The Yankees have a pretty strong team in their own right, and should be able to take this series.
Like you, I missed a good chunk of that game. I was only able to catch a few innings, but they were some good innings. I wish I did see more but I was out. I've heard that there were a lot of chances on both sides to end it, but it just didn't happen.
Ultimately, I wanted an extra inning game. I'm glad the Twins used 8 pitchers in those 12 innings. That's what I cared about.

Yeah, but a lot of those pitchers are used to going longer and deeper, and were in and out after a couple of chucks. I really dont think "wear on the bullpen" will be any sort of issue for the Twins, Joe Nathan probably not able to go more than 1 inning tonight aside.

there are few things more dangerous than a hot team going into October. What scares me about tonight is one thing that is always dangerous for the Yankees is facing a pitcher they don't know. I could never figure out why that is.

Ill give you one reason.....the Big Bad Yankees dont have time to go over a scouting report before a game where they have not seen an arm. Why would someone who makes over 10 million a year bother to waste time looking into an unknown?

The Phillies, with Hamels and Lee, are a dangerous postseason team.
Not unbeatable, but dangerous.
Should be interesting to see how the NL plays out. Cho is right about one thing--revenge for 1981 would be nice. Ultimately, all I want is a championship, but if we could beat Torre and the Dodgers, that would rock.

And the Cards, with Carpenter and Wainwright, had that danger-factor working too. Did them no good last night. I thought the Cards were going to annihilate the Dodgers, so much for that early on in.
Lee and Hamels scuffled terribly late in the year - trust me, I know. And Hamels had a crap year altogether.

Watched the whole Dodgers game last night.
I thought Wolf's troubles in the first was going to set the tone for the night. That game REALLY surprised me!

I can’t STAND Chris Berman. He is so pompous and bloated (his body as well as his ego).
I think he is one of those sportscasters who fancies himself as part of the event, as opposed to just commenting on the event.
He is annoying to listen to on the Colorado/Phils game – and there’s probably a reason he was relegated to the LEAST compelling series of the 4.

Phils mounting a comeback.
I hope the Phillies SMOKE the Rockies.
I hate Colorado...I don't think they should have a team there.

I agree about the Rockies. However, and I know I shouldn't be admitting this in this kind of forum but, as much as I don't care about the Rockies, I like the jerseys. And I'm not a purple fan in the least, but some colors, no matter how gay, mixed with black a certain way, and it sticks out to me. I know they aren't the coolest looking jerseys, I admit it's a guilty pleasure jersey, but no matter how much the team bugs me for nothing more than existing, those jerseys have always been cool to me.
Watching the Cards/Dodgers as we speak. My dad grew up a Brooklyn Dodgers fan and followed them to LA, but due to Torre, Mattingly and Manny being in LA, I automatically root for who, ever is playing them. 1-1 now going into the 7th. I had a feeling this was going to be the best division series matchup.

Just heard on ESPN the Phillies and Rockues game 3 notes...Pedro vs Hammel, Rockies have the 2nd best home record in the NL and the Phls have the best road record. First pitch is at 9:37 east, and here comes the big news, forecasts have game time temp at 30 degrees with the possibility of an inch of snow.
Maybe because it happens very rarely, but I love baseball in the snow.
