I'm surprised no one mentioned this since it was all over the news, I've never watched CNN as long as I did yesterday. But I'm calling that it's all a setup, I hope the family is taken to town for causing shit like that. Army helicopters, closing Denver Airport, these fucks should be sued.
Balls, if it is deemed to be a set up, what kind of legal shit can the family find themselves in?

I would think there could be some criminal charges if this is indeed a true setup.
It cost money to chase that thing. Misuse of police resources. It's a fancy false alarm.

What a wack story. Another one of those "I remember where i was when" sorta moments, as when this hit the office we were popping it online, and watching this stupid balloon sailing through the air. I sat there and watched it on and off for over an hour, a friggin' empty balloon. Im not as callous as many, and was hoping the boy could somehow land safe. And that landing was a safe one. Then, ooof, empty balloon.
So we had heard he may have took a fall. I take no joy in that. But after this mess, I kinda wish thats where the story went. Its an obvious hoax, Dad was in on it. As I said on to someone, George the Animal Steele promos had more credibility than this Dads speech to the press.
Paper estimating AT LEAST 2 million spent on the chase of this balloon.

That's what I thought as soon as it landed, and I can't get away from this notion, we sat and watched a run away weather balloon. It's the biggest non story ever, except if it gets proven it's a hoax.
But the kid fucked up, spilled the beans, so hopefully someone does real reporting and investigating and instead of not doing their job following an empty balloon, someone does their job and gets to work proving this asshole set the entire thing up and punishes him as far as the law allows. Maybe I'm mad that I want 2 hours of my life back, but a lot of resources were foolishly used and this douche bag, dumb fuck should pay for it.
And we can tell he doesn't have 2 million, he should go to jail for it then.

I'm just tired of watching this kid puke all the time. I was on the fence, leaning towards "Not a hoax" until the kid started puking. To me, it was like they programmed him: "Every time someone asks you why you said: We did it for the Show, Just barf" I love, LOVE, how the police played this. Publicly saying" No, no we don't think this is a hoax at all," just to build trust with the family while they privately suspected it was a hoax all along. We believe you 10,000 %, but we would like to ask you a few questions.....BUSTED

I think its more a guilt reaction if anything. Kids have a much more honest sense of right and wrong, I'm sure if it's a hoax he is realizing that it's not a good thing.
Apparently the dad is an 'iReporter' too.... go figure.

Sean, you were leaning towards "not a hoax" even after seeing the family interviewed? The guy was totally off, you could tell he was a friggin liar.
LOL @ a poll I saw today, with "68%" of those polled wanting the parents charged with chicanery. Who are these other 30%? They are just going to shrug this off?

yeah, I wrongly gave them the benefit of the doubt. Thought the 6 year old might be confused since they've been on a few reality shows before. I didn't watch the interview though, just saw the "we did it for the show" clip
