Ive had about enough of it. But it pretty much nailed a day off tomorrow, though Im thinking 8 hours of work pretty much is evened out by 2 hours of shovelling.
They are even talking a straight up "snow-day" where we are paid to stay home. If not, Ill take some of the old PTO and not bother with the mess. Hell, if the snow hits 10, the LIRR may very well shut it down, as threatened, until they clean it up.
So how are you yokes shaping up for tomorrow? This one is NOT going to miss us.

I work from home, anyway, so I get absolutely nothing out of this. Not even a cool view -- our apartment is in the back of the building, so I get to witness the majestic scene of our building's parking area and the neighbor's rickety wooden deck. Not exactly a winter wonderland.

We are waiting word from above. It might be a forced PTO day.

We could be closing as well. They say getting in is possible, but getting home would be difficult.

I'm not down with modifying my plans due to reports of anticipated weather conditions. My approach is to deal with things as they happen.

Yeah, you cant fight Mother Nature. Unlike the other one, where we were hanging on the edge of the storm, this one is blanketing us for hundreds of miles on each side. Oh, and its already coming down here in Westbury.
Im off tomorrow regardless, Ill know in about 8 hours if its a paid day off or if I have to burn a day. But LIRR is already sheepishly admitting the evening commute tomorrow will see cancelled trains, so screw that.

Worst snow storm ever. We opened, and will likely be closed by 10am. Don't even get the benefit of extra sleep.

Why would you even bother opening? Do you people even look at forecasts? Yeah, forecasts can "change" or "be wrong" but where there is smoke, there is fire, and every single Goddamned forecast predicted the same thing for this one, which we have gotten all along.
Im not only home, but Im being paid to be so. Tomorrow may be a tricky one, this may not stop till the wee hours, when the Hell can we shovel it out?

Well, things had tapered down a bit just before 8, and I went out and pushed the shovel around. Cleared the driveway, set a nice passage to the street. Sure enough, the wind ripped snow back in there, and its drift city. Ill be out there extra early to shovel tomorrow, as its now closing in on 11 and still snowing.
Im taking tomorrow off, as Emmas school cancelled about an hour ago. So Ill be on Dad duty. It would be an aggravating return to work anyway, as we left Tuesday with a lot still to do, and more piled up today. Trains will probably be spotty, the roads are a mess.
So tomorrow I will finish up the shoveling, play some games with Em, and watch the NASCAR duels.

I am irritated by the weather this time. My mini-vaca was cut annoyingly short. We left AC a day early in attempt to beat the snow home, which we almost did - almost 5 hours on the road, the Parkway was horrendous until we got up around exit 120 & then it was just wet until we got halfway through Nassau & there was about a half an inch of slushy crap on the ground when we pulled into our driveway... the goal was to be able to dig out so we could get to work today. I figured that catching an 8am train for my training in the city would not be too bad... turns out my class was cancelled, so I made the call at 10pm that I was not going to the office today. It was looking a little too blizzardy with no indication of stopping & we were totally plowed in. So I blew a sick day.... better to be paid for the day than try to get there by 10 or 11am & get paid for half a day.

The last round of snow a few days ago wasn't so bad. The first 10 inches referenced in this thread were like hell on earth. You know how hard it is to get a mustang out of snow? It took a good hour to dig it out, and then the next night I got stuck somewhere on 12th st (a really nice guy helped push me out - only after i gently bumped the lexus infront of me=D
I want spring. NOW.

It's tough when the cold wind blows up your skirt.
I get so annoyed when I overhear people in the train or the elevator at work say something stupid like, "Can you believe we're going to get more snow?" It is February and you live in the northeast. It is not exactly a surprise. Douchebags.

Worse are the idiots who are doomsaying. Next week we may see a few days actually of the old "rain-snow mix" - but someone was scaring the meek here yesterday by talking about a "couple of feet moving in for Thursday." I have yet to find one source documenting that even as a possibility.
Yet people are running around here like the proverbial headless chicken.

Maybe we can all be paralyzed like the pussies in DC. Just another excuse to take our money and get nothing done.
