Band has been around a long time. Maligned by many. Lots of hooey over the years with the vocalist slot. After recording an album a few months ago with a new frontman, they booted him out of the band, and have chosen to put that recording on hold. There was talk of redoing it with John Bush on vocals, but that has not moved forward.
Anyway, reason I bring them up - despite the fact that I am listening to them now, as I type - is that the rumor mill has JOEY BELLADONNA coming back to the band once again, in time for a "Big Four Tour" sometime this year, with Megadeth, Slayer, and Metallica.
That is the incarnation most remember fondly from early thrash days. I myself prefer the Bush era, with a more powerful straight-ahead attack. Belladonna is sorta campy to me, and way too flamboyant. The music is also more jokey. But this said, I too am wistful for the past, and would not mind seeing how this pans out.
Bush just saw a good release come out with Armored Saint, his main project.
So, if anyone chooses to hop in here, whats your take on Anthrax? Belladonna? Bush? Is this band even a factor anymore? Its been fun to watch the people on Blabbermouth arguing about this band. Going concensus is they dont "deserve their spot."

Belladonna had an awful voice, but he's also the voice they had the most success with. I like the older stuff far more than the more recent offerings. Bush is a better vocalist, but it doesn't sound right when he does the old stuff.

Well, its official now, Belladonna is back in. They will be doing the "Big 4 Tour" with Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer overseas, and they are also looking to do a new studio album with Belladonna. Another interesting crux is Belladonna is a good deal older than a lot of the other guys in the band, and he looks it. He just looks spent.
That said, its interesting, I am willing to listen to whatever Anthrax scrambles to put together.
