On this date, May 17, 1998 my daughter Megan was Christened.... and David Wells pitched a perfect game vs. the Twinkies.

Ah, that perfect game....I was there. I should pull out the scorecard. I was there and almost left the game as it was starting, as it was freakin' BEANIE BABY DAY, and I was hung over, and it was loud and annoying. The kids were causing a ruckus. Funny thing is there WERE people who left the game early, after collecting their Beanie Babies.
Good day all around, with a happy family memory for you to boot, though you missed the game live!

Yeah, my timing has never been good. I had the opportunity to go to Yogi Berra day the next year, when a buddy of mine had his friends back out on tickets. I missed it because I had to work. The guy I caddied for lost his match, and I missed the perfecto.

Your timing was not as bad as that of Walkman John, who missed one game the entire season of the Cone perfecto.....and that was the Cone perfecto.

Wrong.
I missed one Sunday game in a four season span, and that one was the WELLS perfect game.
I was at the Cone Perfect game.

If memory serves, your brother was being ordained a priest. That was mean of God.
I missed the Wells game, but Lindsay was there. At the Cone perfecto, there was a group of four people who left after the 7th inning. We were all beside ourselves and I thought Larry was going to explode.

I managed to not only not be in attendance for Gooden, Wells and Cone--I missed them on TV as well.
I was channel surfing with Gooden, saw the Yanks were up 2-0, did NOT notice the zero in the hit column, and missed it.
I went to see the movie Deep Impact when Wells pitched his--missed the game. Went the day before though!
I was on a bus riding home from a road trip while Cone was pitching his perfecto--missed the whole game.

Hate to alert you to this, but the going story out there is you missed the game cause you were at the opera. No joke.
