WWE will announce tonight that the "second season" of NXT will kick off next week, continuing the Pros and Rookies theme.
A number of talents from WWE developmental, including Kaval (former ROH champion and TNA X-Division champion Low Ki) will be appearing in some fashion tonight. WWE creative was coming up with new names for a number of the "rookies" today. Kaval is coming off a knee injury, so this is finally his chance to really shine and make a mark on the WWE roster.

I had to raise a brow when they introduced Mike Rotunda's son as "Husky Harris" and Curt Hennig's son, who I have been waiting to see, as "Mike McGillicuddy." Why are they going with different last names or character tags if they freely acknowledged who these guys were? Mike McGillicuddy especially sounds dumb.
How can the next round of NXT be a success? The talent, aside from Kaval, and the 2nd generation guys who I always enjoy seeing, appeared to be less interesting. The party guy from South Beach looks like he can be one of wrestlings most annoying, which is not always bad. And Miz has a real winner as well in terms of annoying heels to mentor.
PS - kudos to Wade Barret, he was the standout and the guy I wanted to win from week one.

They are missing on a good marketable opportunity by not using the lineage. Joe Henning sounds like a good wrestler name to me.

Yeah, no one gets it. Whats even more baffling is that the clips showing these guys freely acknowledged who he was. Too bad for Hennig, just last month he was being talked about coming up to Raw to pal around with Dibiase and Dibiase's brother Brett (who has since been hurt) - now hes on NXT with Husky Harris and Eli Cottonwood.

The angle continues, thanks to www.pwtorch for this. WWE News: WWE continues NXT Invasion angle at Wednesday's FCW show with guest appearances by two WWE stars Jun 10, 2010 - 1:02:31 AM - Printer Friendly Page -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FCW House Show Report June 9, 2010 Melbourne, Fla.Report by Adam Mize, PWTorch Reader Here's a brief report on the FCW show in Melbourne on Wednesday night since it involves the NXT Invasion angle from WWE TV.
In the main event, Christian and Heath Slater were scheduled to face The Miz and Daniel Bryan. They announced Christian and Heath Slater, but only Christian came to the ring. In a funny aside, they played Christian's old music and he began his promo by thanking FCW for keeping their music up-to-date.
Christian recapped the events from Monday and said how disappointed he was with Slater. A "Cena Sucks" chant broke out and Christian said he'd have to disagree since Cena is the WWE champion. He then demanded that Slater come out and explain himself.
Slater basically said that he didn't get the proper advice from Christian, as evidenced by the fact that he only came in fourth on the show. He said Christian never had the right answers for him. As he was cutting this promo, Daniel Bryan ran to the stage and attacked Christian from behind. At some point, they took the "gang" arm bands from their tights, put them on and said to each other, "This is what it's all about," or something to that effect. They began beating Christian down and The Miz ran out to make the save.
The Miz said that he doesn't always see eye to eye with Christian, but the Pros have to stick together tonight. He played face the rest of the night and the crowd was actually very into him. Miz had the idea that the Pros should team up and teach the Rookies a lesson.
Christian & The Miz vs. Daniel Bryan & Heath Slater went to a No Contest. A nice match ensued, as Slater and Bryan seem to have taken well to their psycho heel roles. About 15 minutes or so into the match, the rest of the Rookies began to creep to the stage. They surrounded the ring similar to Monday and Miz and Christian got back-to-back in the middle of the ring. A funny moment happened when the ref pulled off his shirt and offered to fight next to Christian and Miz. He was quickly thrown from the ring and the Rookies beat Christian and Miz.
They began to rip off the ring aprons, throw stairs, and broke a glass vase near ringside (which appeared to annoy the agent, who I believe was Tom Prichard). They didn't do as much damage as Monday, but it was still pretty well-done.
The scene at the end was a cool one as Wade Barrett stood at the top of a raised stage and assessed the carnage as the other Rookies caused damage. The show ended with the eight Rookies standing on the stage and looking over the damage.

Sounds pretty cool.
It's a good angle, though the problem is that with only 8 of them, it's not like they can always overwhelm the pros. It would definitely help if some if not ALL of the new NXT guys join in.
The Miz actually has the potential to be a great face. Turns work best when the fans have the most extreme feelings. The more popular the face, the more the fans will hate him when he turns heel. The more the fans hate the heel, the more popular he will be as a face.

I dont really know if that is true in all instances. For example, see Randy Orton now. He is sort of in a state of flux. The fans cheer him, he is fighting no one but heels and teaming with John Cena, and he is not getting anywhere near the popular reaction that he did the heel reaction.
Also, cant find many more hated than Edge was, and his face run recently was such a colossal failure that they turned him back almost immediatly.
I dont think they should mess with the Miz, lots of his mannerisms and barbs work well when he incites the crowd. They turn him and he becomes Santino Marella.

They are doing something wrong with Orton. I also wonder if Cena is in the way.

Its not like they interact all the time. Orton is just not getting the hot pops, horny women aside.
His character is in flux since he turned. He was on fire before he did.

Awesome, thank you for posting that, Rob.
Love the beatdowns, love the menace. The sense of "realism" - everything about this I liked, including the Miz and Christan having to band together to fight this off.
My favorite NXT guys all along were Daniel Bryan (who was "released" from the WWE and wished well on his future endeavors today, storyline we're sure) and Barrett, but my third has become Heath Slater.

If Bryan is truly gone, this really hurts the angle. Plus, it's just wrong.

It looks like Bryan's firing was real, the rumor getting the most play is that Mattel complained to Vince about Bryan choking Justin Roberts during the Invasion. Because the kiddies could imitate Bryan

Yeah I read in a few spots that people are thinking it is legit due to the choking and saying certain things on the mic the past few weeks that he was warned about that weren't the "WWE way"........Guess for all the excitement this angle may be headed for the tubes before it starts..we'll see as getting rid of the most recognizable participant is not the best way to start....THinking TNA will jump on him since he is hot coming off NXT and would have some great matches there........

Eh, heres the problem with that. To what purpose?
The whole thing sucks, cause I believe it to be true. Oh, to go back to what purpose....if it IS a work, WWE is doing a cardinal sin in wrestilng, and working the staff, and the other wrestlers (unless guys like Cena are in it) - all the real sources are swearing this is a shoot.
Of course I hope like Hell Bryan hops the rail tonight and beats the crap out of someone.
But again, whats the purpose of making this a worked firing? Hell, as far as most fans are concerned, Bryan never worked there! He was fighting for a contract!
Oh, and in regards to him simply using the Bryan Danielson name, and thats the go-around, the firing notice on WWE.COM mentioned Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson) was released, not just the storyline name.

Ok, interesting stuff here. Poking around the wrestling blogosphere, and now a lot of people are leaning "work." Again, I dont see why this makes any sort of sense, but maybe they are doing a "loose cannon" sort of thing with Danielson. Problem is, they cant do the old, "he does not even work here!" gag, as by storyline NONE OF THE NXT GUYS WORK THERE. Also, this is key. For all the talk about a "complaining sponsor" - this has never been offially announced. In fact, NO REASON has been announced. On top of that, we have John Cena 'tweeting' about it.
Let me say this. I HOPE AND PRAY this is a work. So much of this angle will lose shine to me if he is not part of it.

Well, I heard a lot of other things that lean shoot, as well. Apparently he had been warned a few times to not say certain things, and he did anyway. Apparently he used the term "Jesus Christ " somewhere along the line, and it pissed a few people off . Also, some speculated when he went off on Cena during the angle he was "going into business for himself" and making himself the center of the angle. Thats the same sort of thing that used to get Teddy Hart into trouble.
One source I had read said he had a number of warnings over a few things, and they finally got aggravated enough to make an example of him. And of course the 'choking out with the tie' story was out there too.
Guess we'll find out tonight!

You guys are thinking too much into this. When has a contracted wrestler voiced any opinion, good bad or indifferent, on someone who was released, let go, fired whatever you wanna call it? When someone gets wished well on future endeavors, nobody still in the company says shit about it. Cena gets the shit beat out of him and doesn't want the guy who did it to be released? That doesn't say work all over it? Simplify it, it makes no sense for Cena to mention him if it was a shoot.
