Watch ESPN go into overdrive on this. Funny that ESPN won't mention he was also a cheater and no better then any modern coach.

Its kinda funny to watch the Twitter feed on this one, you would think the Pope died. Everyone has to make a speech (albeit in 140 characters or less)
Most call him "the greatest coach / manager / leader of any team in any sport in the history of the world" pretty much.

I dunno about any modern coach. I'd be curious to see what the Dean Smiths and the Coach K's say about him....

As I mentioned in another thread ... Coach Wooden dominated the college hoops scene for roughly 12 years or so. In a day and age when kids stayed in school, that's roughly 2.5 to 3.0 squads, with plenty of overlap in between. Nice run ... impressive ... HOF coach ... but he had the luxury of cultivating his teams and sending the same team out there night after night for 4 year clips.
What Coach K does is more impressive. He's strung together well over a decade of perennial title contenders with drastically different squads year after year. Not only does Coach K have to recruit harder, but he needs to be constantly drawing up new strategies to suit his revolving door of players.
Coach K, an ego maniac is his own right, would probably do the politically correct thing and attribute all of his success to Coach Wooden paving the way...but really, Coach K is better.

Coach K can suck an egg..... comparing the two isn't fair. It's like saying Connie Mack was not as good a manager as Joe Torre. Don't forget, Wooden didn't have half the technology to help him that K does, nor the private planes etc....

I don't think Joe Torre is as good a manager as Connie Mack
