Hopefully this won't be a short lived thread.
I admit, I'm pissed off right now. I haven't had this lack of confidence going into the playoffs since 2000. Yes, they won the World Series that year, but they had the Mets to beat up on. That should have an asterisk because the opponents were wusses.
It's amazing how bad they played in the last month, yet still had one of the best records in the league.
I feel like the Rays didn't win the division--the Yankees mailed it in and let them have it.
I really hope they didn't seriously tank to avoid Cliff Lee. It would be very weak if that were the case.
The good news is that the Twins haven't exactly been lighting it up either. Hopefully they can take them out and win at home.

I have zero confidence, more due to the absolute and thorough lack of situational hitting and hitting with men in scoring position than to the pitching.

No A.J. Burnett. THANK GOD! Sabathia, Pettitte, and Hughes vs Liriano, Pavano, Duensing and Blackburn and no Morneau. We can do this!

Well, if they did it to avoid Cliff Lee may not be a bad thing. He completely shut down Tampa today! Past history says that we should handle Minny but again to go with everyone, I don't feel great. Looking at our order you see a good amount of sub .270 hitters. I really hope that each of these guys prove to be who they are. We shall see in a few short hours!

That's the problem. Most of the team underachieved this year.

I like that Greg Golson is a solid defensive replacement, but why did he stop at a pivotal point in Game 1, and re-enact a major moment in American History?

Can't tell you how happy I am that TB is out. Sick of them.
...although I look forward to Crawford in pinstripes next year.

Not necessarily. I'm guessing they'll pass on Crawford because they want to show they aren't getting every free agent. That said, you can thank the Seattle Mariners for TB's end. I guess you can also thank Joe Girardi for tanking the season to lose the division.

There is something seriously wrong with this planet when Balls is at a bar for the game and I'm home. Being broke sucks monkey balls.

Wow this series has been godawful.
They've been outhit, outpitched, outmanaged, and are on the way out. But they've played horrible since August 1.

True, Balls. They limped into the playoffs. Their series against the Rays and Rangers in September pretty much showed that they were inferior to both.
Good LORD, please win this fucking series!!!

If Hughes can pitch well, beating Lee is not impossible. The guy threw 120 pitches. He might become a bit more hittable in the 6th inning or so.
Losing Tex made me sick, though Cano should have been hitting third a lot sooner.

Lee hasn't pitched as well in Texas, right?
Hey I'm just looking for any silver lining here. But they have to get to Game 7 first.
I am extremely tense about this.

I'd be more hopeful if they could have kept the game at 2-0 in Game 3, forcing lee to pitch the 9th and getting him to @ 140 pitches. Considering 124 is his career high, maybe he would not have been as sharp in a potential Game 7. maybe a little more sore.....maybe, never know

It definitely would have been great to keep it at 2-0. That performance by the pen was putrid.

Game 7 is a non issue if Hittable Hughes continues to pump fastball after fastball in the strike zone. Not sure if the Yanks, Hittable or the pitching coaches are aware of this little secret that Texas......shhhhh CAN HIT THE FUCKING FASTBALL!!!! Jesus, if he thinks he's gonna overmatch these guys he's dead wrong and for all this hype on how great Hittable is in Arlington, ummm that wasn't against Vlad, Hamilton and a grown up Cruz. Let's hope A-Rod gets his head outta of his ass and contributes and the Yanks can force a game 7. To Loose 2x's to Chubby Journeymen Lewis would be flat out pathetic!!! Also, maybe Jorgie might take this off season to get in some type of shape to catch 45 games next year; it's like a track meet with that guy behind that plate and how many pitches does he just flat out miss??? THis Series makes me want to throw up!!!

Hughes' location was brutal in game two. If it's not any better, see ya. Let's hope it is.

I have been asked this question several times this week and I don't have an answer...
so if one of you have heard something about then please pass it along...
Why was Hughes warming up late in game 5?
Think it was just to mess with the Rangers?
Seriously - interested in the theories that will be out there

The problem with Hughes in no control, no bite on the breaking pitches lately. The big curve has been absent.
Hitters can sit on a fastball.

That shot of Lee Harvey Oswald always cracks me up. He looks mildly amused.
